Three Entangled Seals Found At Local Harbour

An unusual rescue where local fishermen and lazy seals watch the OCN team attempt a three-seal rescue at the harbour in Walvis Bay. Did you think we just use nets to rescue seals? Nope. Different tactics came in handy during this call-out. That last seal was certainly a test of our patience - we will be back!
FAQ: Do you use specialized tools to cut the plastic off seals? No, we use leatherman tools, and they are not specifically designed for OCN. Leatherman actually sent us these tools and we appreciate their support. 🦭

the title had me thinking three were entangled together, but this was so much more illuminating. I now love harbour seal rescues. It's full of visual stimulation and stealth and intrigue and the seals seem to be of a different ilk. Maybe they are, if as Naud says 6:40, they are stronger. That seal tho 3:05 just sittin' there like he has no worries in the world, bein' all temptin' like. Beautiful picture of a strong seal. Good job, as always, but more importantly beautiful bit of footage.

I just about died laughing when you snipped the first packing strap. Also the generally comical situation of them just not wanting to escape down the rocks and you two lurking about with the new umbrella hook tool. The seals' gestures and reactions, just hysterical to watch. I'm glad no one fell down the rocks! And I think the reason Seal #2 was "so strong" was it wasn't a pile of loose sand but rather a bit of sand with something hard below. That's what it looked like. Great work in a novel situation.

Difficult and creative rescues. Thank you for your persistence in trying to catch that badly entangled bull. You could see how deep the line was. I know team OCN will keep trying, you all are the best.

This was a thrilling episode. Lucky not being hurt because it was a really difficult rescue. Next time that big bull will have the strap removed, take it for sure. Thanks OCN team

Try putting someone on the opposite side for the seal to watch and worry about. It may help you get much closer before it knows you are there.

I'll be honest, I had a little giggle to myself when you cut the strap off the first guy just laying there minding his own business. He looked around as if to say "who goes there?? What's happening?"🤣🤣 good job team. I'm so used to the dramatic beach captures with a net and the seal protesting. You really are making such a difference.
