You've got plenty of creaks and pool, why don't you pump some out and put it through a reed bed, filtration system, it'll be available to even drink soon. Please read up on reed filtration system! Just a possibility I thought it may help you and your family! :)

I'm looking at a piece of property now that's got a good size stream running through it. I'm going to check back in the dead of summer and see how it's running. I'm fascinated with those hydro turbine generators. You can either pour the concrete for the spillway yourself or get the prefab kit. One kit you can go from 15kw to 70kw depending on your need and the water source you're using. They are pricey, ($60K) but that's for a unit installed. I can dig, I can form and pour concrete. The turbine itself can be from a few thousand to $10K for a big one. In the UP you'd have some seasonal challenges but I'm in California at low altitude, year round water flow. For these, you need a physical drop in elevation to produce enough flow to generate power you want.

There is no lift at the bodyshop. We have a frame machine but no lift. A lift in a body shop isn’t usually needed and just take up space. You have a happy Father’s Day as well! It my big 39 birthday too! One more year of being young! 😆

Our guardian dog doesn’t allow so much as a chipmunk to enter. We’ve had our chickens for over a year now and had never lost any to predators. Our cat is a beast also and will drag home full size rabbits! 😳 We probably should seal off the coop with some hardware cloth and such just in case one day something does slip through.

Trust me you all are going to love those raised garden beds. I just made six more raised beds to add to my seven. That german way of gardening to the only way to go. In the fall and winter just add all that chicken poop to the top for spring. And mix in the spring.

the water from that creek at your front door should work as 'well' as any well. i would try there if i were you.

Have your tried a ram pump? I'm not sure how far the water is from where you want to supply water. however a ram pump needs elevation as I understand. So if your location is flat.....oh well. Maybe someone might have a better idea.

Oh yes it’s crazy how they lived. It’s also crazy how people think these days just because you want to live off the grid they think you’re supposed to live exactly like the pioneers did. Why miss out on all the worlds great inventions since then right?

I was excited to find your latest video, Chad! I realize that you folks are busier than anybody knows but it was great to get a glimpse of the "goings on" up in your neck 'o the woods. Those bugs are terrible! We lived in southwest Michigan (not far from Benton Harbor) while I was in graduate school and during the summer the biting flys and mosquitoes were a real nuisance. I'm going to put your wish for a well producing good, clear potable water on my prayer list. Our Heavenly Father can make it happen for you!
