WOW so much happened. One of my favorite toys decided to stay there, I met awesome people, learned how to make coconut milk (it's harder than I thought!), and felt so privileged to get to do it all. Would you try this?

Wow, that looks straight out of Jurassic Park! I've actually made my fair share of coconut milk while I was working in Dominica, as well as Coconut Cheese (a sweet dessert) in a similar process. That journey to Vaipo looks amazing, great video! 😊

Enjoyed video. It is a beautiful place and good job with machete. You are brave. I think you handled the cannibalism history with great understanding and care. I think the host was really appreciative being given an opportunity to describe his culture free of judgment and surrounded by love. His joy and pride was palpable. The hosts seemed like kind people who I would love to hang out with.

you use the sharp side of knift to knock the coconut. Use the opposite side and hit a bit harder. We done almost the same to prepare coconut milk.

Hi Kristin. Excellent video. There are levels to travel, and you have reached such an elite level that you can only match on a full time basis. Sorry to hear about your drone. Although you did not show it, I am sure you were quite disappointed as the aeriel pics would have been fantastic. Just one question and i am mirroring your travel and looking to buy a drone, what kind did you get and what was the cost. Thx!

I was disappointed. It always sucks when something you use for work bites the dust but c’est la vie! It was a mavic 2 pro but I just ordered an air to replace it. Trying to get it over to me here in French Polynesia!

If you haven't already read his book, Thor Heyerdahl wrote his excellent first book, "Fatu Hiva", a non-fiction account of him and his bride moving there and living "off the land" for about a year. Lots of reporting from the locals about the old days and cannibal feasts for the elites.
@DoubleGauss3 жыл бұрын
I was in Nuku Hiva two years ago. Since we arrived on a cruise ship down from Honolulu, we only had a little over half a day to get around while the ship was docked. Unfortunately that wasn't enough for me to explore and get a proper feel of the island. A few days later in Tahiti I made friends with a local who was born and brought up in Hiva Oa, the largest of the Marquesas. The Marquesas are truly enchanting. All of FP is but there is something special about this archipelago - maybe it's the remoteness.
@Bemytravelmuse3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience! Do you plan on returning?
@DoubleGauss3 жыл бұрын
@@Bemytravelmuse I would love to return to French Polynesia but not necessarily to the Marquesas. My attitude is it's a big world with lots to see and I would rather cover as many places as I can before doing encores. If I revisit a place, and I mean somewhere far away from home, it takes away from the opportunity to see some place new. So if I visit FP again it will probably be some archipelago other than the Society and the Marquesas.

Polynesia in general is probably the most beautiful places on 🌍. From Hawai’i in the north to down south in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and everything in between - Nukuhiva (Marquesas) Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Rapanui, Rorotonga, Aitutaki, Niue etc. Mana = Power/Strength You have to drink a lot of H20

10:30 ; You were having a hard time because you did not follow her instructions. At 10:00, she tells you to flip the machete and use the blunt side. But you were using the sharp side at 10:30, that is why you were not successful easily.
