I have a second gen cayenne but really like the first gen Touareg with the tdi and cayenne both with low range. A little more aftermarket for the first gen as well like high clearance bumpers.

Yeah, in the video description I mentioned TFL and Driving Sports TV, since they both bought land to run their offroad tests. I read think they should make a cement hill like this.

If you ever do, let me know when you go and I’ll meet up with you. I’d be honored to capture to moment. One thing I really liked to see how the Outlander was able to restart mid hill and try again. That’s so important when out overlanding and adventuring, because it means you can get yourself out of a tough situation.

@@JonDZ_Adventuring will do! Though being out on the east coast, that'll take some time haha. And yea, I was really impressed by that, especially with a cvt. Definitely makes me more comfortable with the types of places I'm planning on going.

My first exposure to off-roading was near Bryce Canyon during winter with the family. Was in high school at the time, so wasn’t the one at the wheel, and we had the first gen Touareg V8 AWD. We thought it was capable enough but we got stuck in the snow in standard all terrains. My dad and I had to trek about a mile and a half to a nearby house where the owners were so kind that basically the whole family came out in snow mobiles and hitched us a ride back to help tow us out. Interesting but cool experience, no pun intended.
@JonDZ_Adventuring2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Any vehicle will get stuck once it high centers in snow and the tires get buried. A few videos back, my friends lifted Nissan Xterra sunk in 2 feet of snow. The recovery was exhausting (and cold). Then I slept in frosty 10F weather with numb feet (because snow got into my boots. It sucked 🤣.

Any remedy options for the SJ FXT crawl ratio? The new wilderness edition Subarus use a CVT with improved crawl ratio, is there any way to update/convert? (Mechanically ignorant question)
@JonDZ_Adventuring2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question, i many people have chimed in about this in the forums, but it doesn’t look like there’s an easy way. There’s just too much electronics involved. The SJ FXTs already have pretty aggressive 4.11:1 differential gears. 4.44:1 being the most aggressive available to Subarus. 14.3:1 in the FXT is pretty close to the Outback Wilderness 15.5:1.

What's your thoughts on Jeep Renegade? I just got a lift done and shopping to tires, really wanna make it an Overlander.
@JonDZ_Adventuring2 жыл бұрын
They’re proven. They’ve been taken to Moab and alot of other 4WD trails. My Honda actually shares the same transmission with 2018 and Earlier Trailhawk Renegage. We have a 20.4:1 crawl ratio. 2019 renegade Trailhawks are geared a slightly more aggressive 21.3:1. Jeep crossovers have hands down the best traction control system out of all the AWDs. People actually do beginner rock crawling with them, so to answer your question. Yeah, it’s a good choice.

@@timothyj.2937 different place. Looked like they used a telephoto lense and it appears to be roughly 20 degrees. this test here is 35 degrees. Even the Volkswagen Touareg in 4 Lo with, center diff locked and rear differential locked, still spun out a little at 10:01. Everyone was aired down here, this test is much more demanding and technical compared to Sarah’s test hill. With the right preparation, the right driver, and a bit of bravery, the Outback wilderness might make it. We just won’t know until someone tries it.
