In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. I'm glad people are still playing Shogun 2, I just got the game a week ago or so and have been loving it. Though I'm sure a lot of people have moved onto TW: Warhammer, Shogun 2 is still amazing despite the age.

I love Warhammer as a series, but I do prefer the historical settings more. I know it's a long way off but when Shogun 3 comes out I'm going to probably buy a new PC almost solely to play it. Though another setting would be cool too.

In your first battle you mentioned wondering where the enemy's Yari Samurai went, in case you're unaware the faction symbol above the general's portrait is the highlight all button, which I find very useful for finding routing units

Thanks man, appreciate the support! I stream from time to time, but I do it on KZbin rather than Twitch, mostly to keep my audience together. I'm not really planning on playing much more Rome II, I did a campaign or two in the past and didn't like it too much. Did a bunch of campaigns with the Divide et Impera mod but only finished 1, the Armenia campaign, really enjoyed that though.

I can't explain why, but the Mori campaign was the first I completed and ever since it has been my entry point to a new difficulty level - don't get me wrong, I can fight navel battles just as well as you (in the sense of: I can't fight them at all - sorry if your skills have changed in recent months and I haven't notices yet) but something made them feel just way more easier to me then other clans...

My skills haven't changed, I never really fight them. I don't think I'm terrible at them, but I wouldn't say I'm great either. There's much less skill involved to be honest, anyone can do them with some success especially because the AI on naval battles is pretty poor.

Is it worth going Bushido for early Wakko Pirates? They won't benefit from weapon upgrades, but they can still wreck early game infantry and help with early expansion.

what’s the thinking behind seeing +1 melee attack for the general as bad after the level up?

It’s not necessarily bad, it’s just not very good. Your general spends a handful of battles in actual combat, once you get other cavalry units you don’t really need him anymore for fighting, and once you get stand and fight, you just want him using that all battle. There’s level up buffs that give al sword units +1 attack or all yari units +1 defence, those are far more exciting in comparison than buffing a single unit that shouldn’t even really be in combat with 1 stat.

In my mori campaign I found an easy way to "betray" Ouchi. Since you start with the special monk building if you rush zen you can start spamming level 3 monks. You create a rebellion on them which is quite easy with 2-3 monks. The problem with this ally scum is that they are going to betray you as soon as you leave your capital undefended. So it's a way of solving it without losing honor or relations.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Might be a good way for me to take them out actually. Even later in the game. Haven't recorded that far yet, but I'm now at a point where I'm not sure where to go. I don't want to go east, I'd prefer taking the west first, but that means having to attack the Ouchi who are also allied with the faction to the west, can't remember their name, the Shoni or something.

Since you are getting done with your various legendary campaigns on shogun, are you thinking of maybe doing some campaigns with mods? I have played with some that give yari samurai spear wall, others that add korea into the game, things that tweek the blacksmith. It could be a fun direction to go after you are done with the uesugi

Probably, not sure which yet. Lots of people have been asking for Korea or the increased provinces mod. Might do Radious, Maybe Darthmod. No real idea yet, but it probably will be an overhaul mod, something major.

Someone asked me to do a Pirate Challenge, only loot, only use Peasant/Pirate like units, Wako Raiders, Ashigarus etc. Would be pretty difficult though, everyone would hate you, honour would be about 0 right away etc.

I haven't watched a ton of your videos (yet), but I have yet to see you use the delete button in battle. If you didn't know, it locks the camera onto a unit. If you did know, why don't you ever use it?

Not sure why I'd ever want to lock my camera to a unit, seems like a poor decision in a game where having good vision is one of the most important things.

Specifically for showing off the units as they march. Not useful for most people in a battle, but if you wanted to talk about a unit and keep the camera on them, it seems like a good thing. Also good for watching cavalry run down routers after a battle.

Why are the Uesugi the hardest? I always thought it was pronounced Ooo-eh-su-gi.

APStyle Guy i think it's mostly because their home province has 3 vastly separate entry points other clans can attack from, so you either need to build three separate armies or pray nothing happens while you're gone. also the uesugi rely on warrior monks, which are pretty late game and take awhile to train

Something I've never been able to gleam is the difference between Warrior Monks and Samurai. It just kinda seems like you have to invest more for marginally better units. And yes, watching Takeda Fire Cav is bliss.

I wouldn't say any Warrior Monks unit is only marginally better, and even if they were, in the late game if you can afford it you'll want to field the best armies possible, what else are you going to spend money on. Bow Samurai aren't even on the same chart when compared to Bow Warrior Monks. The difference is insane to the point of ridiculousness. There's a reason I talk about Bow Warrior Monks so frequently. Naginata Warrior Monks are different. They're hard to compare to any other unit which makes them so valuable. They're great on the flanks in offensive armies. They'll beat just about any other melee unit in a 1v1 and on the flanks they can easily take out cavalry too. Those are the only real units that matter. I never bother recruiting any hero units, and the other Warrior Monk units are exclusive to the Ikko Ikki and Uesugi.

Domination campaign is pretty lengthy, and I'm a defensive player as well! The only one I'd say is the hardest is the Short Campaign. Super stressful.
