Video games have nothing to do w this. Movies and tv have nothing to do w this. Its a mental disability issue. Normal ppl can play the most violent games and be the nicest ppl. Ppl can watch the most gruesome movies yet never hurt a fly. I am that person. I played Grand Theft Auto at 7 years old. Ive never hurt anyone. I watched every horror movie imaginable from the age of 4 and up and I wont hurt a fly. I literally do nature photography bc I love to see the beauty of the world. Its not about the forms of entertainment its about a persons mental capacity and upbringing. Kids whos parents dont interact w them…

I hear you. For the well adjusted your observations could be true. For the sick in mind, I'm not so sure. Mental health is so poorly understood, we have examine the 'why'. What did you do to be so well adjusted? Why weren't you the 16 yo kid going crazy in a library? No excuses for this kid though. Bury him under the jail. Unfortunately my effort to find an explanation for this kid's actions that day have made me feel sorry for him. Teens often get wrapped up in themselves, and give little thought to consequential decisions. There were times in my own hormone filled young brain that i frightened myself with weird instances of physical aggression. Throw in a wildly overactive and completely inappropriate sex drive(for my 14yo self, anyway), and some disgustingly toxic social media that kids dont know to avoid. It becomes understandable why even normal teenagers these days have mental problems.

There have been numerous studies done to determine the correlation between violent media and violent behavior. In somebody without an underlying mental illness, there is zero correlation between violent media and violent behavior. Studies including children as young as 10 showed no significant correlation between the two. Any normal person would know the difference between right and wrong. You know murder is wrong. Just like regular people know the difference between reality and fantasy. They know it’s just a game or just a movie. Plus, if there was a substantial correlation between the two, then there’d be countless killings all the time. We would all be murderers for how much we grew up watching violent movies and playing violent video games.

In 2005, the Supreme Court of the US ruled that juveniles cannot get a life sentence without parole nor a death sentence. For this reason, this kid must have a chance to get parole. I doubt that he will ever get released, but legally he must have a parole hearing every few years. Kids who had been sentenced to death got a life sentence with the chance at parole every few years. I had a family member murdered in the 1980s at 19 by another 19 year-old in NY State. The murderer got a 25 to life sentence. After 25 years in prison, he was eligible for a parole hearing every two years. I recently found out that NY State released the guy who murdered my family member. I hate the fact that murderers get second chances. Once you murder someone your life should be over, because murder victims can never walk out of their graves.

i'd say the biggest factor with juvenile cases like these is mental health. at that age, your body is going through a lot of changes hormonally, psychologically, and physically. social status, connections, relationships, and general "coolness" might seem trivial to an adult but as a teenager, it's everything. if you're bullied, mocked, chastised, and ridiculed frequently in school, it takes a heavy toll, considered you're there everyday for years. then you have the pressures of social media - acting, looking, and behaving in certain ways, and constantly being exposed to and glorifying lifestyles and values that may be questionable or unattainable. and if you have parents who are neglectful, cold, controlling, and/or abusive, it's even worse. you have nowhere to go at school, nowhere to go at home. you feel like you don't belong anywhere, can't live up to all the expectations the world demands from you, and nothing has any purpose. that's pretty much what he stated in his video - that hopelessness and anger at the world. you combine those things with drugs, alcohol, and maybe a chemical imbalance in the brain, and your mentality is just not gonna be in the right place. it's all just a matter of time before something snaps. and then you have an irresponsible gun-owning parent who makes his firearms easily accessible, and now you have a motive and a means to do mass killings. addressing the more systemic issue of juvenile mental health will be an important first step in preventing stuff like this. if you're a parent, try to be a good parent - don't be abusive, controlling, neglectful, or hurtful - and instill good values into your kid. make sure they're loved, be cognizant of the pressures they face as a teen, that they can talk to you about stuff, and that they treat others with care and respect. don't perpetuate the cycle of bullying. schools should address any incidents or rumours of bullying more seriously, imposing suspensions or hiring more staff to monitor situations. gun-owners with kids should exercise the highest levels of gun safety so there's no unauthorized access. gun laws should have stricter background checks and requirements before a juvenile can obtain a gun, in the event they fail to get one from a family member. a bunch of stuff needs to happen together to mitigate situations like this.

@@alisuhhhThis is one of the big differences between men and women. I mean, you have the option to run the opposite direction of the shooter, get the family to safety, and seek help, or, panic and make yourself a sitting duck in the same room as the shooter, and almost get you and your family killed in the process. As a man, that’s a pretty clear choice. One has significantly higher odds of survival, as well as getting help for others ASAP, which likely saved additional lives. And yeah it’s easier to say that when you’re not actually in that situation, but I do believe I would do the same. Just based on history and observation, I’d say you could take 100 different families in the same situation, and I bet about 90+/100 times they’d act the same way. That’s one reason why in emergencies, it was always women and children evacuate first. Because when left to fend for themselves, they tend to panic and get themselves, and possibly others, harmed. Men’s instinct on the other hand, is to assess the threat, if they can doing anything about it, and then do whatever gives the best chance of saving lives. Whether it be getting the women/children to safety, or sacrificially charging the threat in hopes of stopping it, or at least giving others more time to get away. Unfortunately, as society generally treats men worse and worse over time, largely taking what they do for granted, etc, this instinctual selfless behavior is becoming less common everyday. It’s also a factor that plays a big role in the motive for a lot of these shootings, probably including this one. And of course, there are exceptional women who would behave similarly selfless, but they too are less and less common as society makes them more delusional, misandrist, selfish, narcissistic, entitled, perpetual victims, girl bosses, etc. And just in general, society is skewing/deluding reality and values/morals. I could go on and on about this stuff, but I’ll stop there. Sorry for the rant.

@Office Bloke Daz, Missouri USA has no state gun laws. Here, even children can and do carry concealed firearms LEGALLY. You'll never see a mass shooting here, outside the Democrat-controlled enclaves of St. Louis and Kansas City where local Democrat prosecutors let violent gang members run amok for political purposes. Those same gang members know if they leave those enclaves, armed citizens here will put them down when they try gang behavior here, and local Sherrifs will give the armed citizens accolades for doing it, too. It's counterintuitive, but more guns = less crime. Look at Switzerland, too. An armed society is a polite society. Drivers here in Missouri wave as we pass each other on our 2-lane roads here. That shooter chose that target because it was a "gun free zone". Take note of how US mass shootings overwhelmingly happen in "Gun Free Zones". There are very few gun free zones in Missouri outside our court rooms. Even our school teachers can and do carry concealed firearms in Missouri. Citizens here go about their business armed. We have very few police officers and very low taxes. It's a proven fact today the average Kansas Chiefs fan has more and bigger balls than the entire Uvalde, Texas Police Department.

The nerds don't like to hear that though (I'm not sure Metalheads really care anymore)… Like gang violence is CLEARLY a product of hip-hop (poverty is the deeper problem, but hip-hop is a poor mans guide to gangbangin and slangin), but when you bring that up hip-hop fans will immediately start running defense. I like heavy metal and hip-hop, but I cant really relate to any of it. A lot of people form their entire personalities around just the music that they listen to. What might have a benign effect on you might bring another to ruin. Think The Catcher in the Rye only more prolific and influential.

@@prettybullet7728 I got off them because while they helped level the ups and downs of my bipolar disorder. I lost libido and became extremely irritable and aggresive. People have to be more aware of themselves. Good on you for being aware. I'm old now and just go with the flow

How about all these women who said they didn't need a man to raise children, and the kids are brought up in daycare and then straight into public school, no discipline growing up and mostly no male influence in the home. I guess the women's movement wasn't as successful as they had hoped. Have you ever seen kids in a daycare, they greatly outnumber the attendants and to get their attention they had to scream, and they continued to scream into adulthood. Think about it.
