I Didn't Expect To Find This On A Section 8 Apartment Tour This #section8 #apartmenttour was NOT what anyone would think of a Section 8 apartment and it's not much information at all on Section 8 apartments in #phoenixaz and definitely Not any actual Section 8 Apartment Tour. This is a really good informative vlog.

So like he said if your are homeless you can apply and if you start making an income or they FIND OUT they are making an income then they have to pay. I as a taxpayer would like each and every one of them to prove there income every other month. I know of quite a few that get caught. I know of one family the father and mother both work. But the mother gets paid cash. So they report only his income. Those are difficult to catch.

I used to work at a Section 8 office 33 years ago for another city In the Phoenix area. I saw so much fraud and rule breaking that prevented people like this young man (and those who were homeless or truly needed help) from getting in. Homelessness did put people in the front of the line though. Several of my high school classmates would have kids and get into Section 8 and NEVER leave. I have to admit, the houses in my city were not NEAR as nice as this housing community. I pray the city I worked in has upped their game and given deserving people an opportunity to feel safe and secure in a well maintained home.

I've seen bad section 8s. I had to use one when I was 18. I saw the roaches. There's nothing you can do as far as being clean enough. When they spray 1 unit, the roaches go into another unit. To this day, I'm terrified of roaches. Ugh. Then there was the crime... where I lived was not even in a city, it was more suburbia meats country. I was the ONLY mother who worked in the entire complex. That leaves tons of time to break the law. Im glad you put this out there! It makes me appreciate what I have now. But this truly is a nice place and I'm proud of Arizona for taking care of some of their people.

After experiencing what you, and I, as, well, as many others did as a child, you will have a unique understanding of pain and suffering on a different level, so you don't want others to have to experience what you had to as a child and everything else in-between. We lived in a section 8 community much smaller than that. It was all duplexes, each home had a nice back yard and front yard. There was also a community playground, small but nice and maintained. The city workers cut the front lawns every week and we just had to maintain the back yard. The house came with a laundry room that was in the back yard. Everyone got a lot and it was well maintained. Most section 8 communities are ghetto, but you do find some that are well managed specially hoes that the city manages directly with its own workers. And on top of that, if toilets clogged, or stove went bad, the city would replace it or fix it. We were only there for 3 years since we had an opportunity to buy a mobile home.

Very informative. As an educator who has worked closely with troubled teens, I commend this young man for opening himself and his home to you. He shared quite personal experiences. Personally, I would either refrain from or be mindful of such personal or even potentially triggering questions...even if it is public knowledge. With everything he has gone through, he handled himself maturely and you can see his growth. A blessing for him to be in this profession (he works in housing right?). There are such misconceptions and stereotypes with Section 8 Housing and its residents. While some may fit the bill, there are others who are good, hard-working individuals who care for their properties. And some S-8 Housing are beautiful. My advice to this young man would be to never refer to himself or the majority of Americans who are earning under the poverty line as "low class". Lower Income is more accurate. Words hold power. Wishing him all the best and to those who are dealing with their traumas head on in this life.

Big Super, you bring us real life in real time. I appreciate you showing us the valley and the real people who live here. Sometimes I just stay in my bubble and I don’t realize all the people out there living through some hard things. I love living in this valley and you open my eye to all that I don’t see, but is right in front of me

I work for Section 8 in Tucson and how you qualify is by 30% of your monthly adjusted income. Elderly, disabled and some families will often take preference when you are on the waitlist. Waitlist for Section 8 usually 2-5 years. However, if you are homeless and in need of a place, please contact your local housing authority and they can connect you with someone to assist you with a homeless program to house you sooner.

@@juanitar3741 You can move anywhere in the US with your section 8 voucher. However there is a 3-5 transition between your old county to new location to get paperwork and inspection completed. You must visit new locations in person and know what's required to pass housing inspection in new county. Make sure these requirements are done or will be done (in writing) before you move. New landlord/property management WILL require a security deposit and application. When renting the moving truck (if long distance) rent for 7 additional days, so instead of i.e. Oct 1-7 rent Oct 1-14. It's the same cost for long distance truck rental however if you need additional time at new location, it switches to daily rate $40-$125 a DAY.

Super thank you again for doing what you do. You take an apt tour and turn it into a testimony session. People are so comfortable sharing with you.. and you are not being nosy or judging . Its a gift.. You pick up on things "immediately" and ask questions. That is Your Gift!! God bless that young man , he's been through so much and yet still has a good attitude . and 25yrs old and house cleaner than some older women folk 😂😂

I am glad he found a pretty nice place after all the abuse he went through. I am glad he wasn't charged with arson and had somewhat of a happy ending and that people believed his story of why they did it. That apartment isn't bad at all. You get the stigma of low-income housing, but other than that, it is fairly decent. Places like this might be few and far between though. The pool is like a soaking tub, the grounds aren't landscaped or that nice to look at, but other than that, there are good amenities, and it is fairly spacious. We need to respect the poor and lift them up, not abuse them when many have suffered abuse all their lives. I feel like this man has a chance now to do what he wants. This is how money is supposed to be spent helping the poor, not throwing it to greedy slumlords.

WOW! In Canada 🇨🇦 here we call it subsidized housing and it's a minimum of a 10 year wait. Unfortunately some years ago, they completely demolished a few of these housing developments in Ontario and re-placed tenants all over the province! After demolition, condos went up...insane! For the subsidized units left, the government pays 70% while tennanta pay 30% of their income for rent
