I'm so thankful for the ministry that comes from Lisa, Joe and Jim. I just started the video and when I heard of Lisa's vision to include therapy for those who want therapy but can't afford it, it was an aha! moment. I am one of those people. I had been asking God for therapy for months, but just don't have the money for it right now. I am in tears because I realize just in this moment that He provided it for me through the therapy and theology videos. 😢 This is yet another reminder of God's faithfulfulness and His love towards me. So thankful! I wish I could perceive His love quicker!

Its not just for people who can't afford but more importantly for me, at least is linking therapy with God. Because of my abusive childhood & dysfunctional marriage, I was angry with God for not doing anything & the church for keeping me from therapy due to bad doctrine & my trauma filter. With help from my therapist & your program, I'm now seeing God through attachment theory & I'm seeing scripture differently so seeing Him in a true light & I'm coming back to Him. I still have an issue with the church still but I know most people are just clueless about mental health.

If we would just look at everyone passing us by as image bearers, but a broken humanity (separated from God because of sin), then we as followers of Christ would be led, propelled, to share the good news with them to see them reconciled to their right place with God. Knowing who God created them to be. Image barers. Sons and daughters of the most high. Loved. Embraced.

Loved the parts where y’all were vulnerable and shared your own shame scripts. So encouraging. And omg, I’m the same way with the NIV version. I’ve gone thru stages where contexts I’m in either prefer NASB, ESV, etc (and I really love the passion translation, just waiting for it to be finished), but NIV has a special place in my heart. All the others are hard for me to get into, but I know and am comfortable most with NIV

This podcast is huge. Thank you all for being vulnerable and even showing us what a shame script looks like. I think our shame scripts cause us to be a self fullfilling prophecy. My husband said he was always invisable growing up. But he is incredibly closed off. So then he never shares anything at all. He is so quiet and never contributes to the conversation which makes him invisble even at home with my kids and in our marriage. My kids always talk to me and not to my husband because he seems closed off which makes him feel invisable.

Y’all probably don’t take requests but I was curious if y’all might consider discussing any issues related to combat veterans? Post traumatic stress/moral injury? Of course these concepts apply to non veterans as well. 🙏🏻 My dad, two brothers, and my husband (WIA) are all combat veterans with about 14 deployments between them. They all suffer deeply. Their combat experiences and experiences with friends KIA and those who have committed suicide have only increased my passion to serve veterans. I am currently a counseling graduate student at Liberty. There just is not enough readily available information/resources (although it is increasing) for them - especially counselors with a firm foundation in Christ who are equipped to help them with their unique experiences. You guys have both theology and therapy behind you which is already 2/3 of the way there, I had to ask! :)

I just have realized that I am living in trauma from my childhood and I am 44yrs old and still am not only stuck living with my parents that created this trauma but I am having a very horrible problem with drugs. My father who has narcissism qualities and he stopped talking to me and has ignored me for years unless I do something wrong. And my mother has always said that he loves me. Omgosh no he doesn't. But I just have learned about narcissism and complex ptsd and also how I have borderline personality disorder. Just learned about it like a month or 2 go bc of a trauma bond relationship that I am in with my last relationship. I can't even get it out what I want to say. However I'm so depressed that I can't get out of it. Please pray for me.

its interesting the analogy to dust (which makes us feel insignificant, small and even dirty) vs God's breath (which gives us meaning, purpose and a future). I sometimes still struggle with self-condemnation, and carrying the weight of shame, and it's still a journey reminding myself that God created me in His image, and came to redeem and restore me.

These videos will be all the help we can get (which is still limited because wounding happens in relationship so deep healing and wholeness really only comes in relationship as well).

I'm a covert narcissist, and its hard to see the goodness of God sometimes. I deal with shame, but I'm not quite sure exactly why. How do you reconcile "You are good enough," with the fact that we are sinners that are not good enough? I thought the point of the cross was to say, "You aren't good enough. But God is good enough for you." I'm not asking to start a fight. I'm genuinely curious, because I have a really hard time with shame. I'm affraid of becoming arrogant
@Tass30302 жыл бұрын
I too am afraid of pride. I’ve never heard anyone admit they are narcissistic. That’s a little confusing for me as I’m told narcissist don’t know they are narcissistic. Anyway, I was shamed and abused my entire childhood and then also in marriage and in church. Every time I start feeling good about myself I sabotage it with all the shame thoughts and mostly I say to myself “ who do u think you are, don’t be so prideful, sit down and shut up”
@smjrose313 Жыл бұрын
The idea that so many people have about, "Well, you're a Christian, so you should be nice," is really flawed. We are to represent God to the world. Do people really think God was "nice" all the time. If He didn't agree with something, He spoke up and was blunt about it. He didn't sugarcoat or fear hurting someone's feelings. He spoke truth...THE TRUTH, in the hopes of saving a soul.

Wow, I really needed to hear this. I’ve realized about myself that if I view someone a certain way I will speak to them a certain way and it’s not always kind. This has made me realize what I need to change within myself to treat people as Christ would based on the value He has already given them despite how I feel about them. We are not just dust and broken off bone. We are image bearers. 🤍🤍🤍
