Our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to weigh in. We appreciate all the support we saw in the comments for our new splitter and Joe's highlights of the prototype's features in his video, but there were a couple of concerns that we saw mentioned a few times and we'd like to address them. First is the speed of the cycle time. This will improve significantly on the final production model with some modifications we're currently making, and will further be improved by the unique stroke length selector on the TimberOX Summit, which allows the user to select a 12", 18" or a full 26" stroke for the auto-return to stop at. The second issue was concern about the ease of access to the fuel tank. Currently, a simple funnel can be put into the fuel tank, which the nozzle of the gas can easily reach through the slot you can see that we made in the side panel. The final production model will be even easier and we'll be sure to demonstrate this function in future videos, but rest assured we're not going to produce a log splitter that's difficult to refuel. Finally, one of the unique features of the TimberOX design is its large flat work deck that extends out to include the folding tray table. Unlike typical I-beam splitters where the split piece opposite to the operator would fall on the ground and need to be retrieved or have another person catch it, with a TimberOX that piece simply sits there until you are ready to split it. Since the entire deck is level, this allows you to load up several log rounds to process and easily slide the split pieces around, rather than expend energy lifting them. However, this precludes us from adding a log saddle to catch large logs coming off of a log lift, which is needed to protect the operator. Since we cannot add that safety feature to the design without compromising the aforementioned benefits of the flat work deck, we're not going to include a log lift on this model. That said, if you're familiar with our forestry tools, you know that using a LogOX Hauler to lift log rounds has been scientifically proven to reduce back strain by 93% and arm strain by 76%, and we will be including the Hauler Holster as an option directly on the splitter. We will be offering another TimberOX model that features a log lift later this year, but the TimberOX Summit is the perfect splitter for anyone who wants a fast, ergonomic, and high-quality American-made log splitter, but doesn't need a log lift and/or is mainly focusing on processing resplits. Thanks again everyone, we look forward to showing you the production model later this summer! Back in my day Dad bought them and we tried a lot of them. Lickety Spilt was junk, Mackinaw good splitter but slow and not great on hard splitting string wood. Didier was ok for a cheap splitter for a weekend warrior. We had a prototype we tried where the knife laid down between 2 I beams, good in thinking out of the box but it really life usage again only worked for straight grain smaller wood. The hands down best was a Prentice ( The ones that used to make Log Loaders ) later changed their name to Laffont I believe. Based model came with a 13 inch knife. If it wouldn’t split because it was to tough it would just sheer it apart. They had simple basic splitters up to actual processors. Really great in their day, don’t know if they exist anymore…. I like your attitude about firewood, good stuff.😊

A lot of cool add-ons. I like seeing things being pushed forward in the splitter world. Wonder if they will have a 4-way splitter option down the road or if that little wide part at the bottom of the wedge would prevent that. They make some great stuff!

I'll have to think about that. The wheel barrow at the end made a huge difference. I HATE picking up a log twice or three times. I use hydraulkics,, and will in the future as I age. My best tech in my life was A. dropping the tree, B slicing into lengths (16 to 24 depending upon need/use) and then C splitting it where it lay with a 6 pound maul. As required by the species,, exactly where it lay on its side,, or stand upright and split it. Pick it up once to load the truck. Another tech I have used often,, standard drag behind,, set to vertical, right in the middle of the cut lengths. Lift little,, operate on my knees and just push, pull, wiggle, roll the pieces into place. Only split pieces are picked up, or thrown up into wheel barrow or pick up. I don't move if I don;t have to. Splitter up on a 36 inch high table, operated from one side only. I have to pick everything up to get it on the splitter. I surely am not going to just push it off the end so I have to pick it up again

The out feed table could be a couple inches longer, so the wood could 'waterfall' into the wheelbarrow. And every Log ox splitter should have a 'cup holder' to hold the log ox round lifter. What tonnage is this splitter? Also, small concern is the handle is on the table and potentially in a location that can get bent when throwing a log on the table. Also, this splitter isn't conducive to splitting a 100+ pound log since it has no vertical split option and many people can't lift a log that heavy (and not sure the table can handle that weight). Neat product but probably not for me.

I pay 1200.00 for a 12 logger (4'x4'x8') cord truck load of logs (ash or oak). I get an average of 2.5 face cords (4'x 8'X16") of firewood from each loggers cord after processing. In my area the best we can get is $80.00 per face cord delivered. 2.5 face cords x 12 = 30 face cords. 30 x $80.00 is $2400.00 minus $1200.00 for the logs leaves $1200.00 gross profit. I think the placement and angle are such for egromics. I can attest that it felt very comfortable for my arm and shoulder to operate at that angle

Good Day my Friend Joe. That is quite a Machine. That is the kind of Splitter that is right on the Money my Style. Big enough to Split my Firewood for myself. I can use it and put it away in the Garage. Still might sell Bundles but that is down the Road aways. Do I contact Log Ox to find out more? Super Machine. Keep up your Great Video's my Friend. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

Very nice! I like the table and height but the reset of the knife after each stroke is a waste of time and gas and energy and money. Modify your design to split both directions. I have done this with mine. Also a log lifter is a must for us old people who have bad backs. Thanks for the video. Jim in Chile

What is the price point on that unit ?

Does the channel where the push plate ride collect and hold debris??
@ohiowoodburner6 ай бұрын
It seems to clear on the end of the stroke. As much as I ran it it was not an issue but also I didn't run logs that had a lot of chafe

I agree. That was a big deal for me to have a good splitter

Yes, good work height ,unless you have big rounds to lift

??? Price / possibility of fueling issues / possible issues with the handle??? If they are going to be made to order then 100% offer added options. Let this or something very similar be the starting base. Foot pedal and log lift would be great options especially if they can be added at a later date by the owner!!!
@jakebredthauer51006 ай бұрын
Foot pedal may be good. I know they will never do it. It is too innovative. They will claim it is a safety issue but I doubt they have any statistics to back up that claim.

Yes, could see the handle operation placement a challenge when lifting big rounds onto table

Fueling is with a funnel. I understand a log lift will be on the next model that will have a log cradle

Need to relocate the gas tank. Or get a fuel filler tube to it, like how a vehicles filler tube is ya know. But its pretty good for what it is. 2 folks in a small back yard operation would make some wood quick. Id put it right outside my wood shed for bundle wood making for sure, replitter type machine right on man
@ohiowoodburner6 ай бұрын
There is a port in the table for a funnel. Fueling isn't that much of a prob but that is the trade off for a compact design
@frontyardfirewood6 ай бұрын
@@ohiowoodburner i guess a funnel will dummy proof it enough, 🤪 i would know about being a dummy. I was all state my senior year! Hahah, Its heck of a compact design that is the truth.

to me, the oversize table on the working side is a negative - it makes you reach further to line up the rounds, and I get some heavy rounds. I'd also make the runoff table long enough the ram won't bump the wheelbarrow. I'd also put a couple triangular pieces that could sit on the runoff table - and guide the wood into the wheelbarrow. it's good they're thinking of new ideas, though - and a splitter that can be a table when it's not working is a new idea.

Fuel is best with a funnel. There is a relief cut into the table for it.

I look at a lot of people that make a living (like you) splitting wood. Storing the finished product like you do is not the run of the mill splitter. The other split wood sellers just pile the cut wood in heaps. Not only does it look crap but it also takes up a lot more space. Other times I have noticed wood stored like your wood is stored is at home steeds.

Looks difficult to access the fuel tank for filling.

I heat with firewood and I have a couple friends with log splitters that I can use but it's alot of bending over picking up logs. Once you learn how to cut up your logs, and then learn how to split with an axe and or maul it just doesn't make sense. Log splitters are so much more work and noise. But I burn wood to save money, not spend it.

G'day Joe, I wanted to come to the best firewood expo on earth but the Aussie dollar is only a little bit better than the Ugandan Shilling ATM, so I would have had to sleep in your shipping container and sing for my supper ! which means I may go hungry 👍. PS do you know the pressure of that hydraulic ram ?

@ohiowoodburner6 ай бұрын
I understand a log lift will be on an upcoming model with more of a log cradle.
@jimsnipes12036 ай бұрын
It's backwards, you should have the wedge moving. Then the pieces that need to be split again don't have to be moved so far.
@poonamdayal90882 ай бұрын
Be sure to add a log lifter to the final design ! Log lifters are a game-changer! I'm willing to work hard but because I don't do it often, my body is not conditioned for the extended demand required. Downed trees are often cut into rounds but then no one has strength to lift and chop! I see them in neighbor's yards all the time.
@jimdessenberg37616 ай бұрын
I like the splitter it does need a log lift though
