Oil Drilling Results in Discovery of Pristine Mineral Water, Historic Dillsboro, Indiana

The town of Dillsboro was established in 1830 and named for James Dill, a general in the War of 1812 and a local resident. The Dillsboro post office, established in 1837, was spelled Dillsborough until 1893.
In this video local resident Jim Deaton tells us many a story about this small town in Dearborn County, Indiana. One such story is about a company drilling for oil in 1900 that accidentally discovered a lake of pristine mineral water directly under the town which in turn attracted people from throughout the tri-state area to bathe in the spring.

The ownership changed a few years ago. The new owners decided to change the name to Haute Center. A lot of people hate the new name and still call it Honey Creek Mall. And we actually have a lot of shopping, even without the big name stores in the mall. There's not really any reason to go to Indy for shopping.

I used to make DL-66s when Ammbusher was still open. Good times. And the Dillsoboro fest is great, but Aurora Farmers Fair still beats them by far, and attacts way more and is the oldest fest in Indiana

No mention of the Nike Missile Base outside of town.... I know they like that small-town feel of the highway not going right through town anymore, but a lot of people think Dillsboro is only what you see from the highway.... I grew up 10 miles away and didn't know it was an actual town until I was an adult...

I went to school with the kids that the parents lived /owned that Nike base. And they didn't seem to have that much money I never did understand how and why they lived there.

Dillsboro is the crappiest town in Indiana. The elementary school has recently started stinking badly, I took my kids out of there. Also its the capital of sex offenders in dearborn county.
