Great squatting mate. In my squat workout this week, i managed a top set of 170kg for 2, then backed off with 2 sets of 150 and a set of 110. Keep those videos coming, great motivation! 💪💪

At 64 5'10 173 i just do weightless squats. High reps for a combined total of 200 plus. And my legs are sore for a few days. I don't have a rack at home and don't plan on getting one. Because of some upper body lifelong injuries i went to lighter weight, higher reps in most exercises. I still maintain what i have and am more then happy about it. Lifting heavy at 62 is what caused my injuries. And i want to continue to lift until i die.

200 squats in sets of what ? I am guessing 10 sets of 20 . I do weighted squats and goblets with a 60lb Dumbell . Sets of 15

Well done . You are in your own world of suffering in those last reps .

Awesome last set !! Do your workouts ever get rained out? Or would you just do them, rain or shine?
@cols-muscle-power2 ай бұрын
Cheers mate. Yes sometimes in heavy rain I can't train, I will postpone the workout. If I've started training and it's just light rain I usually continue 💪🏻

love a back yard, no nonsense workout. The form thing is real, if your hips move up faster than the bar its not great, no disrespect but having hurt myself at 40yrs and 42 years squatting i was gutted, that put me out for weeks/months and all the hard work wasted. p.s. kettlebell front loaded squat helped me gain some form/decent warmup. Keep at it fella.
@cols-muscle-power2 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark. Yes I agree if hips move faster than the bar not good at all. But watch again, I know I use a lot of back when I squat but the back is still in a strong position, arched and tight. The hips and bar move at the same speed. Cheers mate 💪🏻
@lalindrasilva20132 ай бұрын
Hips initiating the ascent is not a problem provided you have braced your midsection well and keep it tight. Low bar squats benefit from 'Hip drive'. Its a fine line tho.. from turning into a good morning.

Does it inspire you to lift more because you are filming it?
@cols-muscle-power2 ай бұрын
No mate, I just lift what I need to lift for the workout. I'm just filming to document my training. Not to try and show off,because I know there are many women who can lift more. I just do it for the love of it mate 💪🏻

@@cols-muscle-power I still compete in powerlifting at age 71 but usually lift better when in competition because people watching was the same when I did the martial arts and people watching, I am probably a narcissist. Have told a few friends about your channel some seriously good lifters and they all think your channel it is great and realistic about what we do.

@david-pb4bi that's great to be competing at 71. Keep it up, great stuff mate. You're right though about lifting better in competition I'm the same. You're not narcissistic though. Just the excitement and adrenaline. So pleased you and your lifting mates are enjoying the channel. Thanks pal 💪🏻

Excellent effort. I would strongly suggest that you use your footage to analyse your form. Your heaviest set has the best form but your lighter sets you don’t appear to be driving your driving your hips forward enough. I’ve just turned 60 and can no longer squat as I lost a hamstring in a motorcycle crash. At my best, I could squat 180kg for 20 reps with no belt or wraps and 265kg for a single again with no supports. Hats off to you for real world training but really analyse your form to prevent injury.
@cols-muscle-power2 ай бұрын
@sedulousdabbler5468 Thanks mate. Interesting! I will analyse that, definitely. Thanks for the feedback. Strong squat that mate 265kg very good. My best was 230kg💪🏻

Thank you. 1 set of 20 reps twice per week took my thighs to 29 1/2”. The set was so hard that I woke up feeling sick just thinking about it 😂
