Thanks Steven, sorry I couldn't make my usual midnight video slots 😂😂😂 Its certainly an impressive Meccano structure and though its not normally painful, there is a certain amount of aches and discomfort as my leg gets used to all the pins and wires passing through it. Very sorry to hear about your accident Roger. That looks like a horrible break. However even us Oldies heal, eventually. I broke my collar bone last August it still aches but the main thing is to do the daily pysio and some to make good progress. I'm sure you know that & have the self determination to carry it out. I can feel your pain. I lifted a big lady 18 months ago and she lost her balance and my back was not test to her weight. Been recovering for 18 months, but it was only 7 months of no riding.,but even that is still limited to less the 4 hours a day with many breaks. Heal yourself an I, along with many others will be here when you get back. Maybe put together a recovery video as you progress.

Good to see ya Rog..., still alive and breathing! Yep, it could of been worse!! Keep your head up and your spirits high (not the liquid ones). I know from my own experiences, that it will get a bit frustrating every now and then, and I was thankful that my wife was there, and stuck with me through those irritable, if not obnoxious periods I went through, i'm not a good, or a patient person! Things do, and will get better, and legs do heal (as mine did). Patience is now the number one thing to master in your life, as well as being able to accept the help from others (particulary the wife). As things progress, i'm sure you'll gain a little more independance with the use of a wheelchair. That will help tremendously. I wish you both success, hope and courage through the next few months, and hope to see you back in the Man Shed soon, the riding will have to, unfortunately take back seat for a while. Regarding mobility, the cage is known as an Ilizarov frame and the idea is that it allows you to actually walk on your leg - eventually - when I get used to putting some weight on it. I don’t recall if you mentioned it, but which motorcycle were you on at the time & how badly did it suffer? Don’t know if you know of Lee Johnstone, the road racer, but he had a similar injury at the NW meeting last year. He has a channel, he has done vids on his recovery. Thanks for that Martin, I'll go and find Lee Johnstones channel later, that could be a big help. I was on The CCM Spitfire bobber and it came out of it OK. My leg took the full force of the hit and the bike was pushed out of the way. Just suffered a scratched silencer, foot peg and a damaged bar end mirror that are all easily fixed. Cheers Rog

He has been in the Orthopaedic clinic at Northern General Hospital on two occasions when I've been there. The first time, he had a film crew with him but I had no idea who he was. Small world.

UK traffic, I saw it last year, after experiencing the aggressive german, earlier decades french, and totally stupid spanish and portuguese driving, and in recent years the other forms of italian, romanian, bulgarian, greek, …, thai, moroccain, …, usa No, not all drive the same, they all drive very different within those countries and between them. But the violent ignorance of a few, prominent type of UK drivers caught me with surprise, as I have seen rarely any other losing his last consciousness in the last moment. I learn UK speedsters do not brake, they don’t care what they hit. Everywhere else hitting is not part of the “bully sport”. A friend of mine was hit by one “smart ass” last year on our trip (with his model-styled wife and dressed-up kids in the back). He thought he could just force his way with his overpowered SUV through a tired biker that was slowly moving. He was well padded at his hip and the shock wasn’t too hefty, still he was hurt and the bike damaged, rideable, but could have gone very very wrong. All he was interested in was to move on fast even after the accident. I wish you all the best getting healthy and rid of all the metal again, a tough job and process, though.

The external cage is impressive isn't it. Its used as a better alternative to pinning and plating of the bones or when that isn't practical. The bikes fine. Thanks Nicholas. Slow and steady is what everybody keeps telling me so that's the way I'm playing it. To be honest, I had four weeks in hospital without any alcohol and since I've been out I haven't really been bothered about it. I'd rather have a cuppa tea now though I did have a bottle of Bud last night as a treat😊😊😊😊

Thanks for the comments, made me chuckle 😂😂 I was out on Al the CCM Spitfire bobber but he escaped with just a couple of minor scratches. Unfortunately, my leg took the full force of the hit and Al was pushed out of the way. Cheers Rog
