Me and my friends took every single chanse we could geto play RuneScape. Funny thing that happend, so, we went on a school field trip to....idfk, Somewhere that had A lot of computers, our "task" was to look up jobs and such crap, but me and my friends all sat next to one another and said "fuck that noise" and started playing RuneScape, Several other kids, both from our class and other came by and saw that we were all playing the same game and got curious what it was, so we told them what it was, where to get it, even set up an account for most of them, so by the time our field trip was over, we had gotten about 20 other kids to start playing RuneScape, aaah good times.

My 15 year anniversary is coming up for my RuneScape 3 account and I've only maxed like 3 levels in that time. Although it hasn't been my main game since 2009 and I usually dip in for a month or 2 every year, grind a lot and not touch it for another year.

I distinctively remember annoying the hell out of this one guy... He had a female character with a pink ponytail, but it was a dude, I assume, because the name was John0John01. What did I do to this much higher leveled person, you ask? Well, of course I followed him/her around until they gave me 5k. I did this for about an hour. They kept saying they would report me, but I knew I wasn't doing anything against the rules. I just kept asking and doing spins. I got that 5k.

Something I really like about Runescape is that it's an ACTUAL rpg. You wanna be a bad-ass warrior? Go ahead. You wanna be a wizard? Go ahead. You want to focus the entire game on becoming the BEST baker in the world? HELL YEAH YOU CAN DO THAT! Wish more games allowed you to have that freedom. For most games crafting is just a way to make your character a better fighter and you need to be a better fighter in order to get the reagents. Sad

Try playing osrs ironman mode, you can only use things you find yourself. No trading. That way, you can fully garner that experience you're looking for

I think that combined with it truely being free is why it's lasted so long and is so loved. If you don't want to pay and/or only want to concetrate on 1 or 2 skills even non combat you don't feel held back from having stuff to do.Free games today often feel like demos and if you don't pay you either can't win or don't get much to do but Runscape felt like you got the game free and if you decied to pay it was like buying expansion packs. Also i seem to recall that most quests were aimed at certain skills and it was fairly obvious what skill you needed rather then every quest being combat based so you better level your fighting or magic and defense. So it really does have more freedom then most MMORPGs.

Honestly, the greatest thing about runescape was the players. It was fun having thousands of people to talk to and interact with, or playing with friends and then sharing stories of the game in real life. The players are what really made runescape such an enjoyable experience.

He's not making much of a hyperbole when he says the F2P content lasted him for years, if you're not familiar with OSRS then it could very well take you that long to experience everything it has to offer. That's one of the beautiful things about this game, if you know what you're doing you can speed up your progression by a staggering amount. Here's a tip if you get Ian's free week of membership: Do the Waterfall Quest. If you can manage to do it, you'll save yourself hours of early level combat grind.

You know Los Colinas has a riverwalk? I didn't until about 3 weeks ago... it is right next to the Alamo Drafthouse(the best damn movie theater chain out there imo) that I've frequented for the better part of a year, and the area is great for Pokemon Go. Point is: there's plenty of shit to do in Texas, you just have to look, and if you don't live near Dallas or a major city, then my point doesn't apply I guess... RIP. Now if you want a true endless hellscape of boring fucking flatlands and hicks, try Oklahoma. This game means so much to me. I love that you are advocating this dorky game. I feel ya on just having fun with it. Me and my friends spent so much time roleplaying and making cute foods and helping each other with leveling up. We weren’t high levels, but we have played for so long.. i need to start using “forever noob veteran” to describe it. We picked houses and pretended we lived there. Everything was cute and fun. I was you about 6 months ago, hadn't played in years and what I had played was barely scratching the surface but a buddy got me back into it and I'm so glad he did. Now level 96 with 176 quest points (loads of hard quests done) and have items I never even knew existed when I was younger. If your reading this and you're in the same boat as I was, give it a go. Push past what you knew about this game and you will find one of the deepest and most rewarding RPGs ever made, if one person decides to take my advice and go balls deep on rs then my mission is complete :)

DUDE. I have never gotten this much nostalgia over a video. I was a player mod in RS2 back in the day. I had 99 woodcutting. Made some of my first online friends. Spent around 6 years playing almost every day. All my stats were at least level 60. Pest Contol. Castle Wars. The crazy ass vampire questline in Morytania. Training fishing in Catherby. I honestly wish i still had time to play, RS is a truly special game.

While I didn’t play Runescape as a kid, since I was pretty young, I do have very fond memories of watching my brothers play it. My brother and I would sit in my oldest brother’s room and crowd around him at his desk while he played. I don’t remember any quests, characters, or much of the game play very well, but the music is still very fresh in my mind. I remember my mom being very concerned that we could talk to others on the internet, since this was the first time any of us kids had been able to do such a thing. Runescape was eventually replaced by Wizard 101 for our family, and at that point we were all old enough to play together. I’m glad I have a chance to actually play Runescape now. Great video!!

I didn't mind the Evolution of Combat, aside from it making the Runecrafting Robes that I had done some painstakingly annoying F2P grinding for go from being 'the best non-degradable F2P mage armor' to 'just cosmetic'. I'm kind of apprehensive about starting OSRS; I still have my original account from middle school in RS3 and the thought of starting over from scratch is a showstopper for me.

You can use the same log-in info to log into osrs, and you can buy bonds in rs3 to get membership on your osrs account since they’re technically the se account. Starting off as a member makes it much more enjoyable and faster to level up.

Man, seeing just the login screen from Runescape 2 brings back so many good memories. It, like so many others, was the iteration I got into the most and started playing. I'm fairly certain that I got into it very early on as well cause I remember pretty vividly when stuff like clans and duneoneering even dropped. I made a few friends there that I've unfortunately lost track of over time and I hope, wherever they are now, that they're doing well for themselves and this just makes me want to get back into playing again

The music and Sfx always catch me weirdly in that emotional nostalgia driven center of my brain. I had played the game for years and made some wonderful friends but eventually just fell off of the game. I played Adventure Quest for a long while, long before it was called Worlds and they only had a few servers with 200 max each. I grinded all the way to being a ninja. Wasn't worth it.

I think what keeps me coming back to the game is the goofy whimsy everything has like interesting/humorous dialogue/examine information, they aren’t afraid to put in things that may not necessarily fit like shirtless Sherlock Holmes or King Arthur, and the chatbox animations are top tier
