Just a tip, not sure if you know, but you can build the recommended improvement by clicking it's icon above the tile instead of always going to the left hand menu 😊

Yup - I know this one (pointed it out in a video somewhere). I've noticed you do need to be standing on the tile, though. Would be nice if you could just click it with a worker selected and have them move their and start.

@@UnstableVoltage yeah, since you normally have your character centered on the screen the popup that results typically runs over the area you need to click. Veterans of the game will move the screen before mousing over the suggested icon BUT it would just be easier if we could do it your way :/.

Terrific game, glad to see this play through. i have read that Rome is a good nation to start with because of extra moves and military. The fun is in being dragged in multiple directions at once. Build military? Build shrine? Build settler? Attack or defend? As expected you can't do everything.

Wide vs Tall is always a choice to be made in 4x games. I am a tall player myself but I've found this can hurt me on getting victory points. So what do you think? Does Old World favor Wide or Tall? And that brings us to families. We are limited to 3 but do you always go for all 3? I'm still learning and experimenting but I have this idea. Focus on a resource or two and get to the 2000 resource cap as fast as you can. You then overflow and get money that way, which can be used to buy whatever you need. Best way to do this would be to use 2 families, 1 for the training which overflows to orders. And the other for resources. Oh, also an idea for a video. Civilization tier list. Base it off the civ bonuses only. A leader tier list could be a different vid. Lastly best family to start with per civ? Or in general?

I'm not sure how viable playing tall is. The biggest disadvantages to having few cities (beside the fact that cities give you VP) is you have fewer "factories" to produce units. Certainly, you could boost up one or two cities to produce huge amounts of yields, but then city maintenance costs are going to rise quickly. Population costs gold upkeep, and every tile improvement without a specialist costs upkeep. If your city culture is developing or higher, there are stone, iron and wood upkeep costs for population, too. As for the families - having more families does give you more characters to interact with (can be a good or bad thing), but generally gives you more options, more choices for generals/governors. I also believe you start to get some penalties (via events and such) if you don't have 3 families. Having more cities is also potentially safer if you get attacked, as your other cities can keep pumping out military units. My personal view is that playing wide gives you more options. In Old World, due to the limited number of city sites, there's only so wide you can go anyway.

since Old World dictates where you can settle (unlike Civ where you can settle ANYWHERE you like as long as it's like 5 tiles away from another city center) it basically pigeon holes you into playing 'tall' ofc you can still have 30+ cities (still seeing how viable that is when it comes to Orders and all, you never have enough! Especially when that means war with your neighbors and you have MORE neighbors cuz your defense lines are stretched so large!) but each city is, by design, 15+ tiles away from each other. I wish roads were more efficient, my units sometimes prefer to walk over flat terrain over roads imo even dirt roads should be preferable to flat terrain for wagons and such, it's just better on the wheels. I'd also imagine tall is viable in this game as it's basically just a Civ 5 mod xD

@@UnstableVoltage lol my deffinition of wide v tall probably differs from yours xD by wide I think of tightly packed cities and tall I think of more spread out.

Hi, at around 27 minuts in you were choosing between 2 option for your new ruler. Did you mix up discontent with wisdom in that choice? While none of the options were bad, 7 wisdom and the science boost that comes with it are not to be scoffed at. =)

How do you adopt a state religion? I have seen a million things referring to adopting a state religion but NOTHING that tells you how to do that. So frustrating

After playing over 30 hours of Old World, i have to tell... its quite a good game, Musci is sooo good, graphics are not bad, controls are good, BUT it gets to a point whne it gets boring :,( it doesnt advance in time like Civ or the other one i forget too XD... sorry but it really feels like an unfinished game for me, I LIKED IT but I wouldnt recomend it (buy it in a sale if you like it) regards.
