The older model seems to be the crowd's favorite. Mine too. The original straight shaped hour hand, the date at 3 o'clock, the flat hi-gloss dial without modernized gimmicky wave pattern, smaller dial indices, narrower bezel with marginally smaller bezel numerals, the straight He valve instead of toothpaste cap-shaped one, the bracelet SEL which integrates seamlessly into the link rather than being 'slotted' under the SEL on the new model, 41mm case vs 42 on the new watch...the list goes on. For me personally there's absolutely nothing on the new watch that trumps the old model bar the updated movement spec. I stopped buying watches based on mov'ts alone, long time ago. Cheers!

@Sharon Plume Hey Shazza, go get your head checked by a professional. Anyone who responds unprovoked with such a nasty vitriol isn't right in the head. Oh and while you're at it do ask your shrink to up or change your current meds, the current ones aren't doing much for you. It's also good idea to stay away from posting online while being healed. Go be a good girl and get yourself fixed, we're all rooting for you. Cheers babe.

I had the old model and traded it in for the new one mainly because of the upgraded movement. However, the things that irritated me with the new model were the sharper bracelet edges which didn’t enhance the wearing experience and most importantly for me was the colour change of the blue in different lights. It looks stunning in low light as it looks a very deep blue but in sunlight it turns into a light china blue which for me looks really tacky and cheap. I also prefer the indices on the old bezel and like the way that it doesn’t have a 10 minute marker, to me it looks much better having indices through to 20. The upshot was that I have now sold the latest model and gone back to the previous model and admitted to myself the error in my ways 😊

Omegas should have updated the movement and added the see through case on the back, and it would have been the greatest Omega ever made. The older version had perfect proportions!
@whereRbearsTeeth4 жыл бұрын
The older version looks infinitely better. The only aesthetic improvement on the new one is the relocation of the date window. Omega should have just updated the movement and left the rest of the watch alone.

J B yea I’m liking the bracelet now. I liked the wavy dial as it looks very premium but I do see what you mean about knits leaving it as it is. The previous ceramic watch was very nice and keeping it the same makes it way more iconic
@jamescollett26254 жыл бұрын
J B also if they want to take down Rolex as the ceo says they do keeping the seamaster similar like the submarinars is a good way to go in my opinion. What do you think
@whereRbearsTeeth4 жыл бұрын
James Collett, I agree. And actually, omega has a much more rich history than Rolex. The problem with the brand is that they change their models too often, resulting in very few models from the brand actually becoming iconic. The countless special editions and and flooding the market just adds to the problem.

I have to say having owned both the newer design cannot be done justice until you’ve seen it in person. I was slow to jump on the bandwagon but it’s my personal preference now out of the two of them.
@Zeekism4 жыл бұрын
The older one is more proportion and more balance look. The newer is nice too just a little gimmicky on the skeleton hands. The wave is nice too but it kinda take away from the whole design as of the older one the skeleton hand pops right away because there's no waves that take away from it. Both nice but the older is just perfect in every aspect.

Great comparison video. I don't know what they were smoking when the made these changes. The old one is so much nicer. The waves are too prominent, the change from silver numbers to white on the bezel doesn't look as nice, and they made the controversial helium valve even more prominent on the new one (it sticks out more). And on top of all that, they took away the iconic seahorse engraved case back. Glad I have the old one.

The older model is for me aesthetically pleasing and the design oozes class and sophistication. The newer model sadly does nothing for me and looks imo like a copy of a genuine Omega.

I have had the new model for 9 months and recently bought the last version. I must say I prefer the older version by far. It’s just more classy and elegant. The new one has this wave dial (and I liked the wave dials of older Seamasters) that looks to busy and glossy. And then white dials on the bezel. the whole watch looks much kess elegant. Of course the movement win goes to the new one and the adjustable bracelet, but that’s about it. Old one wins all day to me.

Millenary Watches, do you think the new bracelet build quality is superior?? As far as function, the adjustable clasp is definitely an upgrade. But I think the build quality if the previous version is at least as good as the new one
@dr.emilschaffhausen46834 жыл бұрын
@@whereRbearsTeeth The bracelet on the new SMP is extremely well made. I've heard it compared to an AP bracelet by some collectors in terms of build quality, but can't comment on that.

@@dr.emilschaffhausen4683 Yea, and some seiko skx owners think that their watch is a good as a submariner. That's just about as absurd as placing a seamaster bracelet on the same level as RO bracelet.

I own the 42mm, I love it and it's perfect for my tastes. The feels positively more high end in every aspect, which is what it needs to be against Rolex and other competitors. Overall it has more mass appeal and has a certain completeness to it. That being said, the old one has everything that more nit-picky, small-wristed people tend to get excited about in the comments. It has the thinner case, smaller valve, applied logo and the seahorse on the back. It's the internet darling.

The older model looks classier. More boardroom to beach than the new one. I have a 2017 model and i added the adjustable clasp and love it. Its 41.5mm as opposed to 42mm..5 mm is little difference. 41.5 is good on any wrist. The new version looks tacky in a used car salesmen kind of way. Don't think it will age well.

C. chelious, I agree with you here 100 %. The new one is just tacky looking. Ten years from now the non wave dial will be the model that is more desired no doubt

@@chelious1973 curious where you found the adjustable clasp for the older version? I'm contemplating both of these right now, and the adjustable clasp is at least one selling point for the new one. I assume you could also just swap in the new bracelet, which I like the looks of more anyway, no? I know some people wouldn't like the idea of changing the stock bracelet but the lug width is the same, and by all accounts the new one is better.
