This is a powerful commercial regardless of which watch was first. Kennedy was a charismatic and powerful speaker, and Omega captured that and will now sell more time pieces.

It's the first and only official watch to be worn on the moon and that's a great achievement for Omega. Other companies may claim that their watches had been worn by astronauts but the one that was chosen by NASA was The Omega Speedmaster Professional.

It was an older model that was given to him by a dear friend for his inaguration and was worn by him during such ceremonies. There is no evidence that it was his watch of choice or that he wore it past that event. Omega purchased the watch, which its now housed in its watch museum. He was known to wear a Cartier, which I believe he wore to Dallas the date of his assasination. It is also documented that he reject a Rolex Presidential watch that Marilyn Monroe tried to gift him.

Realistically, the astronauts could have probably "Mississippi counted" the burn sequence and made it back....but it's nice that the Speedy gets the credit.

A Rolex GMT-Master and a Waltham Chronograph. Although the Speedmaster was the 1st watch on the moon.

Kennedy also wore an omega, I dont think it was a speedmaster but it was a gold omega he was given as a gift.
