I loved this! And having a way to reach your “interviewees” on the web is so comforting...knowing that if I have a question later I can look them up. Keep these coming! Especially if they are as knowledgeable as this dietician.

She's so eloquent and knowledgeable with a touch of humour. Love her! I wanted to log into her dispensary, unfortunately they don't ship to Canada. Too bad, I would have loved to have access to her recommended supplements. I would love to hear more about children's supplementation.

I agree. I've been supplementing with DHA from algen since a few years now. Converting ALA to the long-chains can be problemetic/insufficient. I use 250mg DHA every other day (male adult). I do use other supplements to my vegan diet as well. Going vegan is not so easy as some would like you to belief, but it can be done in such a way that it is even more healthy than the average omnivore diet.

This was a helpful video. I wanted to share that you have to have a healthy balance as I was using a popular vegan B-12 spray and when I had blood work done my B-12 was way too high. I went back to just my vegan multi vitamins and a few other supplements.

I was wondering if maybe you can get a RD to come onto the channel to talk about fat intake. There's such a strong fear of fat and oil in the vegan community and I've lived on a 5-7% fat-diet for years because I'm so scared to gain weight again. However, my doctor tells me I need to up my intake because I might lose my period if I don't. There's so much conflicting information and I don't know which side to choose if that makes sense. X

We definitely recommend listening to your doctor and consulting a RD too. Like you said there so much misinformation out there so it can be confusing but we always recommend listening to the recommendations of the experts who know your specific medical history ☺️ Great idea for a video though, we will definitely add to that the list. Thank you!

Let me first off say, another AMAZING topic and approach taken with this video to provide people within the vegan community (and people who are not apart of it) some light to the confusion behind omega’s! 🙏🏼 Second, Hannah your lip gloss was so f****** poppin’ in this video I couldn’t even concentrate on what you were saying! 😂 I love you beautiful women. Thank you for doing what you do. I’ve really gained so much confidence in being vegan when I started watching these videos. I think a good question to be answered by a dietician would be how a vegan’s caloric intake is going to differ from non-vegans since absorption rates are stated to be not as high.

Fish are a science experiment. The oceans are running out of fish. It's great to know that we don't need fish to be well. I never liked the taste of fish.

Why do they often recommend supplements for b12 but not talk about the b12 in nutritional yeast? I don't get it.
@someguy2135
@someguy2135 3 жыл бұрын
The problem with relying on fortified food like nutritional yeast for your b12 needs is that ensuring adequate levels would be much harder, if at all possible. I figure a supplement is easier and more certain. If you want to avoid supplements, I would look into duckweed, aka water lentils which is the only plant source of b12.
@avabearden9867
@avabearden9867 3 жыл бұрын
@@someguy2135 I looked at the nutrition facts for nutritional yeast and 1/4 cup contains 290% of my recommended daily intake. That seems fairly easy to accomplish for me. And thanks for the water lentils idea!
@someguy2135
@someguy2135 3 жыл бұрын
@@avabearden9867 You are welcome! You may have a hard time finding them, but I understand they are used in at least one vegan protein powder. I don't remember which one. That is a lot of nooch! I tend to just sprinkle it on, but if you use it in cooking recipes, you might use enough. Live long and prosper!

Why should we be vegan if we need supplements ? We could just do easier and eat animals products. Really curious
@dayrodriguez9619
@dayrodriguez9619 3 жыл бұрын
because of the ethical implications of eating animals... most factory farms don't treat them right. lots of documentaries out there on it. plus, animal products have cholesterol and saturated fat, which have both been proven to lead to heart disease, amongst many other health complications.
@TheVeganView
@TheVeganView 3 жыл бұрын
It’s not just vegans that benefit supplements ☺️ And if you listened to the part where she was talking about fish, it’s actually better health-wise not to eat animals. Plus the animal agriculture industry is very cruel and it’s seems unethical to kill an animal that doesn’t want to just because we like the way they taste. Hope that helps you see where we’re coming from 💚
@someguy2135
@someguy2135 3 жыл бұрын
@@dayrodriguez9619 I agree, but I would add that even animal products that are not from factory farms are not ethical. Our taste preference or convenience does not justify killing sentient creatures. Another problem with animal agriculture is the environment. Animal agriculture contributes more to climate change than all transportation combined! That was the conclusion of the expert panel set up by the UN. They urged a switch to a plant based diet ASAP to avoid irreversible climate change. Grass fed beef causes even more climate change because those cattle need more time to get to slaughter weight. Other environmental problems from animal agriculture include huge levels of wasted fresh water and land as well as run off from manure which pollute our water and creates ocean dead zones. Links on request.
@someguy2135
@someguy2135 3 жыл бұрын
@@dayrodriguez9619 One more point to support what you said about health. Vegans have lower rates of several chronic diseases, like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and some types of cancer.
