Once a year.... fish in its traditional way
During the end of September, the tide calms down the sea paving way for fishing....so the little kiddos, youngsters and the elder men has nothing except visiting the beach early and returning late without missing even two chances of laying the net for fishing. When they return each one holds a bag full of many fish.
We ofcourse never miss the fish curry during this season.
People too wait for fish caught from laying the net. Out of it... Sala Fish is the most delicious if you could
dry the curry well. It goes best with a pol sambola and the taste could even over ride a king meal. Pannawa is the same... mostly flesh and better with frying. Since we often have it the same way this time is altered with a poranu for frying the fish. The rest is.. Thora fish, well made for kids. Even our younger son could dismiss about three slices. That is only three kinds... rest are.... Katuwallo, Karallo, Pulunno, wiwwalayoo, karallo, spraths, Jilawo, Kalawo, Paraw, Shrimps, Kumbalawo, Anjilawo, Hurullo, Wenganawo, and likewise there are a variety of kinds. So I wish to visit the beach and bring you many more...

It's delicious fresh from sea without refrigeration fishes of all kinds. Cooking in a traditional ways with locally produced spices and herbs, hard to come by nowadays except in fishing villages such as yours. The lady who did the cooking is very skilful and handled the chores well and hygienic.
