Wow ! You're explanation of that loneliness is my true experience. I've always been involved with people and relationships. But, after my divorce 11 years ago. I experienced extreme loneliness. I had a tough time with it. But, now after 11 years of being alone. I'm at peace with it. I've moved away from Christian dogma and into studying Sadguru, Tai Chi, and became interested in eastern traditional theology. Worked on my inner self with meditative practices and continued learning. My loneliness of pain after my divorce became a loneliness of Benefit ! Thank you !

There is a huge difference between being alone and loneliness. When one is at peace with oneself the only concern the external forces and one’s way of dealing , or not, with these.

Same happened to me. Check out Joel Goldsmith. He changed my life. I never noticed before, the bible has all the Tao, Vedanta in it. To those prefer the Biblical language, Joel is the one.

Rather than following a set of arbitrary rules or the conditioning of society, the Tao emphasizes feeling or experiencing the truth within. In the book Steps to Knowledge, a similar view of the spiritual path is presented. Here is an example. "The truth is with you. You can feel it, and it can shine into your mind and into your emotions if you allow it to... Sit quietly with your eyes closed, breathing deeply and regularly, attempting to feel the truth beyond the constant restlessness of your mind. Use your breath to take you deeper, for your breathing will always take you beyond your thoughts if you adhere yourself to it conscientiously. If something permeates your mind and you have difficulty releasing it, tell yourself that you will look at it a little later, but right now you are taking a small vacation from your mind. Practice feeling the truth. Do not think the truth. Practice feeling the truth." (Steps to Knowledge, Marshall Vian Summers)

I have a pen pal from Finland, and I'm from the USA. And what your talking about at 35:00, is exactly what she and I discussed and also marveled at. Two speakers of the same language often become caught up in, who can say the wittiest thing, or who can dominate the conversation etc. But when two speakers of different languages have a conversation, it can allow more truth to shine through, more exactness to shine through, and deeper levels of truth often come out of these conversations.

I just spent several hours watching Sunday morning television. I feel as if I have been observing the life of beings from another planet! The programs, and especially the ads, felt so removed from my life and experience, that I am finding it hard to establish any sense of human connection with the concerns and worries of the people I have been observing, Perhaps it is because I am old (I just turned 70), and have been going through an extremely stressful period, including a forced move, and a failing hip. I watch these images of people who seem totally consumed with wearing the latest fashions, driving the latest (and largest) gas guzzling cars, fighting desperately against the visual effects of aging, buying purely unnecessary junk to clutter up their living space, and all while war, disease, famine, violence, and social disunity are tearing their world apart. Like I said, it probably has a lot to do with being old. I no longer have anything to prove to anyone. I no longer am in competition for wealth, or love, or fame. I am the Old Boy now, just like Lao-Tzu. I am now invisible like a child. I no longer matter to this society, since I am no longer a spending machine. My job now is to maintain compassion for humanity even while shaking my head at it's folly. I do not want to be cold and unfeeling, but, my god, what fools these mortals be!

You will be surprised and pleased to know that this experience of the world is not necessarily the gift of chronological aging but rather a sign of spiritual maturity which in your case, is coinciding with your age. I have observed people getting well into their latter years and watched in amazement at how they still chased the desires of the world that you have described with no realization of the futility of such. I would say, count it your blessing.🙏🏽

I am an American living in Tanzania 🇹🇿 East Africa and I connected very deeply with this awesome analysis of Lao Tzu. I definitely share your sense of comfort in places where my language differs from others but my heart and spirit are connected with the oneness of the universe, with the Dao. In the Swahili language we say "Tuko Pamoja" often when greeting, which means "We are one". Thank you so much for spreading awareness about these important ideas. I think you would love the peaceful and highly connected vibes here in Tanzania. Karibu sana 🙏 (welcome)

This brought me so much joy. I have been struggling with loneliness as of late and have been trying to find a video to make sense of what I am experiencing. And to hear you speak of this journey, I recognize how I feel in what you speak, and it has almost brought me to tears. As a young adult, especially as you said "you belong", that it's just the current cultural ethos of society that, if you ascribe to, makes you feel different and odd. Thank you so much. This is my favourite video of yours.

this really resonated with me. thank you so much. just as an aside, regarding the aloneness those of us who on the path experience, I was never "confused" about it - I was sad. and still am at times. however, the spiritual path must be walked alone. my parents passed away long ago - my beloved mother when I was still a child and my father when I was in my mid-twenties. they would love me no matter what (just as you were talking about with yourself) but my siblings have never been close with me. my own daughter (only child) (born out of wedlock) drifted away from me after she hit adolescence and is not on the spiritual path. I am very alone - but at peace. you guys are talking to me in this podcast and I am loving it. thank you, Namaste.

I've never felt like I fit in, socially, politically, religiously. The first time I read Chapter 20 of the TTC, I felt like someone else understood what that experience is like. It's more aloneless than loneliness, I think, because I don't feel like I'm missing out by not going along with the crowd. Half my family won't talk to me, and the other half doesn't really get me. I just sit back and shake my head at a world that expects me to take one side or the other in its daily squabbles. I don't laugh at the frivolities they laugh at. I don't adopt their either-or groupthink views on hot-button social issues. It's like we speak completely different languages. Why, then, would I give in to woke cancel culture or any other ridiculous, ephemeral trend of the day? Just be yourself and let the spirit (whatever form that takes for you) guide you through this life.

The way of the tao and the way of the world are one and the same, if few people are mistics its because the game of the tao its to lose itself in order to be able to come back to himself . everything its part of the game but! if we were all laotzu from the begining there would not be history so remember there is perfect imperfection. hi guys , I have often felt alone throughout my life and I am at the stage now where I love been alone. But in other podcasts I listen to they talk a lot about the importance of community and how been alone is bad for our health and lonely people die younger ect , so I reach a point where I make myself go out and socialise and then don't connect with anybody in any real sort of way, I come home and feel depressed and drained and upset with myself for how things went. and the cycle continues like this. how far should we go with shutting urself out from the world and should I make myself socialise if it doesn't feel authentic? my partner is extremely extroverted and I'm very introverted so I also feel bad that I leave him to go alone to a lot of outings. sometimes I think I'm just stuck in my comfort zone and need to push myself more to socialise even if its uncomfortable,, but then I listen to something like this and it also sounds right to me.

You sound like you have some confidence by going out and socialising etc but if its a bit forced or doesn't sit right, then its just not in your true nature. And that is perfectly ok. You have a community here albeit online, you belong to the dao and when flowing with dao social interactions will happen spontaneously and will be pure and to the upmost importance

A lot of people walk around in a daze wondering if there is a creator or not they have to do a stop look at any tree any animal any leaf anything living who created that there is a genius behind everything we see I see creation and the creators work everywhere. these people who are adamant there is no God or creator it is very hard to talk any sense to them. Perhaps they need to live a few more lifetimes to realize that everything we have has been created a very bodies have been designed in such a way that when you activate the chakras your conscious level slowly goes up they have to find this for themselves you cannot convince somebody their beliefs that they grew up with as far stronger than an idea that you have just said. One needs to be without any beliefs in order to attain and latch on to certain perspective. But at the same time you have to be ready to let that perspective go and re-orient yourself. When people are ready people will come seek other people out with knowledge it’s best not to go seeking people to teach them something different. I have no confusion it’s very clear to me what we all need to do and why we are all here other people might not see what your perspective is you can try and part some knowledge to these people but never force anything on anybody they need to ask for a deeper understanding.

It’s not about what people think about you as what people think about you it’s the consequences of being canceled which makes no sense there’s a lot of ramifications that come from being canceled, if you have children then being canceled could be devastating to your family maybe not you maybe you don’t care but the people around you you have to think about but I look at it this way all of those social media sites TikTok Instagram Twitter I don’t bother with social media and commenting on somebody else’s opinion very badly aggressively does nothing except create strife because after all it’s only an opinion and if you are of fact it by somebody’s opinion then maybe you have to look within yourself and analyze the beliefs you hold so dear. Because no men should have the right to tell another person how to think and feel bad for saying what they did. We live in a society where they’re starting to teach children that the creator made them inferior that it’s OK to go under the knife to correct yourself by the way I’m not trying to lecture you I’m just ranting. And ultimately evil exists because good people do nothing even if you’re not in the location you can still communicate with other people pray for them a vibration of good permeates quicker and farther then the vibration of evil.

Do you see the flaw. The man made systems dominate. It can’t achieve the highest result because things that are dominated lose some of their potential. God or the dao or whatever is a good master and a bad servant but the master becomes the servant. we end up serving the things we try to dominate and so the rule holds true with the great spirit if you serve the will of things even humans but only if their will is one of service not of making something serve then god will nurture but god as a servant just like humans will fight against it.

Yes of course I am willing to listen but this does not mean I am willing to learn only to understand but not attach myself to any belief, yes the thoughts that you are reading out loud now it seems to me comes from a man trying to find his own way through life he has great wisdom of course. you will find the same thought patterns with many yogic teachings but not a aimless existence. to be aimless is to be dead and unfortunately if one is to be aimless in life without the goal of walking the one true path , that person will be walking this gross plane of existence for many lifetimes. I don’t know enough about Taoism but I want to understand where this person’s perspective is coming from I want to see the world through his eyes it seems he is bordering on being a monk or a bum? Excuse my ignorance.

As all actions you carry with you of course but you have created a deep karmic score when using energy to hurt other. Why is it the greatest form of evil but with also don’t know an evil action on someone you first had and emotion that wasn’t good that emotion turned into a thought that thought turned into a physical action and all of this is powered by your energy.

The beauty and value of loneliness and independence is we all have our own version of reality. We all can influence reality with free will for different reasons. If we have no separate individuality, how could we form a diverse collective? ☯️
