Thanks for this video. It did not work for me, but here's something that did work on my NR-616. Hold down the BD/DVD button, then press the power button to cycle HDMI modes. Set it to Ignore. Now the analog inputs will start working again at least. I then used the headphone output that my TV has to run audio to one of the inputs and get sound that way. It's not ideal, but at least I'm able to use the receiver until I get a new one.

Mike - Thanks - this worked for me as well. Did you ever get a fix? My NR616 lost all sound on everything, but at least I have something

POS Onkyo. And then when you contact Onkyo and let them know the problem you’re having they act like they’ve never heard of any such issues with any of their models even though you can find countless forums and videos regarding the exact same problem. I don’t know how Onkyo stays in business. I’ll never own another Onkyo receiver. They run hot as hell even at idle with no input.

The liquid, I would guess is superglue? I saw on another video, a silicone type adhesive was used. It’s standard ,non setting .i bought a little heat sink from a local computer shop and it was $7 for 3 little ones. I used the biggest and it’s the same size as the chip. It had a peel and stick on it. I think a large one might work better but it’s working now. See if it overheats!

This is not a super glue. This is liquid for soldering smd components

I believe it is some kind of thermal paste or heat sink compound. It helps heat transfer to the heatsink better so the DSP chip won't have a bad connection to the motherboard anymore. The receiver will no longer lose sound because of it.

Hello, I pasted the chip but I still don't have sound, do I need to heat it up more?

I have a little sound in the speakers, after I warmed it up, the speakers appear on the screen, I saw on the internet that it heats up and then the sound returns

what if it's just a bit of heat getting to the metal caps. I would like to see someone put pressure on the chip with a clamp to prove their point before i trust this urban myth. heat also restored capacitors temporaraly.
