One of the things that I don't understand about the Alien movies from 3 onwards is why the company goes to such effort to find Xenomorph samples when there has always been a giant crashed ship full of alien eggs still sitting there on the planet. They've known about it since the 1st Alien and it wasn't destroyed when the colony exploded in Aliens so it's still there with thousands of eggs for anyone who wants to go get them.
@banhammer39043 ай бұрын
It would make sense that they would want to keep the Engineer ship a secret. If they sent another crew out there to unwittingly become impregnated (the plot of Alien), someone else might find out about it and capture the bioweapon for themselves. They don't want another Ripley trying to blow the whistle.
3 ай бұрын
@@banhammer3904 And well in the novels other companies do learn of Xenomorphs and start doing snatch and run jobs with their special operations teams. Never big teams, always expendable and if they succeed they get an egg and have a place they can sneak back to when they want more. But once you got one, as long as it becomes a Queen you don't need to go egg hunting around the Galaxy after that.

They wanted Alien and Aliens with a smidge of all the others in their film. Bad idea, really, since it's difficult enough to make a film but then to add more genres to the product calls for way more talent than these people have. Both the first and second are different styles of movies, a horror, and an action. Melding just the two of them together is very tough, but then to do it with an addition of other films that came later, with the problem of being in said "franchise" is absolutely the thing that they couldn't do.

There were NO jobs, and I went from being a Senior IT Project Manager to unemployed with ZERO hope of getting a job, because companies all put their projects on hold or cancelled them, and everyone was in the same boat. Pretty crappy time. It’s a shame that a majority of people still don’t know it all started with the good intentions of government who decided the reason some demographics of people don’t own homes is because banks won’t give loans. People still blame “the banks” and not the people that pushed the behavior. Now we have another economically inept presidential candidate saying the reason prices have been out of control is because companies are ALL “price gouging,” and this candidate will “fix” the problem through price mandates. If you think 2008-2009 was bad, wait until you see what happens when government’s answer to the inflation they created is price controls. A policy with well documented consequences. Terrifying consequences on the scale of the entire US economy where inflation is out of control. It’s like trying to fix a windshield crack by pounding it with a sledgehammer. I think to be allowed to vote, you need to at least understand the differences between a price-coordinated economy and a centrally-planned economy. Buckle up. We might be in for another ride.

Hadley's hope eventually gets obliterated and no origin of or evidence of the Xenomorph ship is ever found again within a thousand years. I know you guys didnt like the new Alien: Romulus. I thought it was good for what it was. Originally it was only going to be on HuLu. My only wish is they for once let a man survive and be the hero.

42:42 Holy crap, has SWT finally come round on Rebels/TCW? The man sees sense more and more each and every day. Also, for anyone wanting a film that feels like a REAL Alien film, OtaKing (the guy who made that old TIE Fighter anime music video years back) has an Alien fan film titled Monday. Highly recommend giving it a view

that's like Burger King introduced a new burger that a small minority enjoyed , then corporate discontinue the item , removes it from their menu ..but then simultaneously blames customers for not having an open mind and calling ignorant for not trying new things to thier main consumer base
@Itchyknuckles3 ай бұрын
It's more like Burger King started crapping on the buns and called it The New Whopper and would blame the customers for not buying it and called the customers bigots for pointing out that the product isn't a Whopper anymore and just crap on a bun.

@43:40 They're using a cloud storage solution to serve up video, like every streaming service. Costs on the cloud are broken down by compute, movement and storage. Compute is a minimal, or at least so spread out amongst all videos that one show won't make any difference, so the real costs are movement and storage. Storage is cheap. Not as cheap as on your own computer maybe, but still really, really cheap. Movement is the big ticket item in streaming, but for a corporation even that is actually pretty minimal. You could be moving terabytes per day every day and still only rack up charges of maybe $15k/year. There's some flexibility in the numbers, big customers and those with good negotiators get bigger discounts but still, it's not going to be an enormous cost if your revenue is tied to data movement. And that's the biggest tell that they didn't yank The Acolyte for the direct cost of leaving it on the platform: the biggest cost of that would only be incurred if the videos were very popular, which would mean they would be making money on it, or at least as much money as they make on anything in the complex accounting of streaming platforms.

The Critical Drinker is the main channel where he goes live (usually) every Thursday around 5 pm EST, subscribe to that and have notifications on and you’ll get notified when he goes live! Then all of the Open Bars get re-uploaded onto this channel a few days later!

44:00: To what Nerdrotic is saying. It's not the storage, storage is dirt cheap, it's the CDN and balancing fees - the cost of bandwidth every time it's watched, that's the very very expensive part that keeps most video platforms from rivaling stuff like KZbin, because it's not just 1 server, it has to be mirrored and ready for fast distribution essentially anywhere where it's available, which means many servers. But usually if nobody is watching it, CDN costs for it should be low. But I guess it's also a matter of what it's compared to. 1 GB is 1GB, so if somebody is watching that that's a worse viewing experience for somebody watching a good show that may have many more viewers.

He doesn’t even know Star Wars that well, go watch Star Grift and you’ll see he’s actually really dumb and forgetful of things because he’s just started inserting his own canon and viewing the movies how they are in his insane reality. It’s why he’s taken so long to notice how bad it is. He is an actual grifter who just wants to sell his fanfiction and Chinese dropshipped lightsabers

Alien Romulus is currently at $226,815,007 on a budget of 80 million so it’s now made a profit kinda
@chindleymuffin2 ай бұрын
It's more than made a profit, when most movies spend half their budget on marketing. So in this case it's definitely made a profit, twice over from my basic grasp of maths. I would say that there's definitely going to be a sequel green lit for sure.

I actually disagree with drinker for once. I will die on this hill: iron man 1 was amazing. Solid 9/10 for me, especially with how desperate marvel was back then and how much of a gamble it was.
