Frank Seaman's tape: lipsealtape.com/
This channel is part of the International Association of Facial Growth Guidance. A nonprofit organisation which aims to raise awareness of alternative orthodontic methods and ideas, which too few people are informed of.
The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.
Disclaimer; We regularly post discussions and debates from guests and colleges. The IAFGG is not responsible for all the opinions, statements or content of the material posted, especially that from guess lecturers.

This channel also acts as a forum to make openly, speculative suggestions, to find common ground with other professionals (in both related and seemingly unrelated fields), educated lay people and members of the public at large, to either support or detract on the information provided, but either way engage in the scientific process. In the pursuit of the truth it is normal in science to make speculative comments which may not have full scientific support, and we welcome feedback and discussion.
In general, the videos posted on this web site are not advertisements, and will clearly be labelled as such if necessary. Apart from educational books, the association does not sell anything or encourage anyone to have any form of treatment. It does aim to make people think, consider all options, ask questions and become fully informed.
Much of what is discussed on this site is not available from even the registered members, however a list of members is available on the web site, orthotropics.com.
Orthotropics essential means straight or correct growth. If your faces grows well it tends to work well. The concept is based on the Tropic Premise; www.watkinsden...
The underlying pathology of malocclusion and the related symptoms is referred to as Craniofacial Dystrophy;
www.nature.com/...
The association feels that it should be possible to prevent or at least minimise the level of craniofacial dystrophy through simple public health measures.

Taping my mouth with 3M tape every night has made a major impact on my health. I have been a mouth breather all of my life, I always had a stuffy nose, I woke up tired every morning due to poor quality sleep despite sleeping for hours and even had mornings with a gassy digestive system. Now because the tape is forcing me to breathe through my nose every night I wake up refreshed, am needing less sleep as the sleep quality has improved, I have a clear nose which means I can carry on nose breathing throughout the day with no problems and no gassy stomach issues in the morning. I have been doing this for several months. I notice a clear difference on the odd day I forget to put tape on or lose my tape. I am not yet in a position to stop using the tape as the mouth ends up being open at night but the tape is a simple solution.

@@zyzznatural2330 I noticed that mouth breathing led to dry mouth and poor quality sleep. I could sleep for 8 hours and yet still feel tired. Taping my mouth meant I was forced to breathe through my nose. Nasal breathing is the proper way and ensures greater oxygen intake and it made a massive difference. Better quality sleep, no longer feeling tired when waking up and no dry mouth

Why loan a $1,000 device to a patient just to determine if he's sleeping with his mouth open? He can record himself sleeping with his laptop's webcam: $0. Or you can lend him a $20 webcam. Or a more low-tech solution: ask a spouse or someone living in the same house to check. $0. These methods have the added benefit of being far more accurate than comparing sets of data from a device operated by a fumbling mouthbreather.
@ario9907
@ario9907 5 жыл бұрын
poleag the true purpose of keeping your mouth closed is to seal the lips so that the body would have no choice but to breathe out through the nose and that's just step 1, Step 2 which is the important part is to keep the tongue on the roof of the mouth in the correct posture and placement throughout the entire night and you can't see that through an external capture source.

Hello Mike. Thank you for yet another brilliant video concerning the topic of proper facial form and orthotropic principles. I have one question regarding how to maintain proper head, neck and spinal alignment while reading a book. I have considered getting a book holder to be able to hold the book at eye level, or I could stick to reading ebooks (maybe not so great on the eyes). What is the best way, in your opinion to counter the issue of having to look down while reading, as one's arms get tired as holding the book at eye level? And another question I have would be, what do you think of standing desks as apposed to sitting desks under the framework of orthotropics?

Hi,my father has a very strong chin,his lips are like those of a fish,and the chin still protrude over them;my mother,despite being a woman, has a strong chin too while I have an average or even bad one. The chin almost reaches the under lip,if I started mewing,how much time would I need to see good results? I'm 16 years old,three months left for my birthday. Also,when I mew should I kind of push ahead with my lower teeth?

A Real Religious Man I don't mean to protrude like in a underbite,like the Habsburg chin,but to simply push with my lower front teeth the upper ones. I was wondering about teeth position,how should they be?Should my upper incisors be over the down ones or should their "borders" just touch?I've read that the max of mewing can be gotten when in teenage

A Real Religious Man Thanks,well I'll see what happens after 90 days of mewing. I've read some experiences and people say that the hardest part is the first week because due to the sudden position of it

What do you think about anti-snoring chin straps ? Can we hope a similar effect than tape on mouth ?

This is the first day I ever realize what in the world was wrong with me. When I sleep my mouth is wide open with my tongue sticking straight out. As a result my lips are chapped and peeling badly. I also store. I am 60 and have been doing this for about five years and I noticed that both my parents stored loudly. I am going to tape my mouth shut do you not get my teeth worse and not to get such a dry mouth and horribly chapped lips. Thank you so much!

Is mewing good if you have crossbite? I mean i understand that i should push the upper part of my mouth with my tongue, but if my teeth are touching, am i just making it worse? My lower jaw goes to the right, so if i mew wont the muscles on the right side get tight and short while the ones on the left will get weak and stretched?

After getting invisalign and mewing for a few months I’ve realised I’ve stopped waking up with my mouth open! The other night I put a lip mask on and accidentally fell asleep. When I woke up 8 hours later it was still on my lips- and they aren’t particularly sticky. It had dried out on my mouth though which was painful to remove! I used to only be able to fall asleep with my mouth open

Literally the only point he is trying to make is that you chew hard stuff. You could chew your military boots for breakfast if you would like to.

I notice when I am trying to sleep or sleeping that my breathing slows and goes way deeper so I need 3-4x the volume of air as I do when awake, and I just can't get that volume through my nose even when it is clear, so I have no choice but to open my mouth or I start feeling like I am suffocating. Not sure if nose strips would help enough. It really is annoying, because then I drool all over everything...

So would the mouth tapping be something you’d need to continue for the rest of your life or would you eventually retrain your brain to keep your mouth closed on its own?
@sambbrooks
@sambbrooks 2 жыл бұрын
Presumably you would not have to tape your mouth shut once you have trained that muscle pattern of keeping your mouth closed.
