Someone who was actually competent lifted out the card first and quickly let go so only Warren was left holding the card. The actor simply tried to show the cameras the real winners as soon as possible. Nothing wrong with that. It's not like the actor wrestled Warren to the ground to get the card out of his hand..... he was probably full of adrenaline and didn't want Warren to keep holding onto the card and "owning" his (and Faye's) mistake for one moment longer.

The real story: the accountant for Price Waterhouse/Coopers (I assume at least a manager or junior partner) was taking a photo of Emma Stone just after she won the award. He then failed to dispose of the duplicate "best actress" card, and handed off that duplicate to the presenters (who also did not bother to question the fact that the wrong card was given to them). Anyway, I've seen people fired from big 4 accounting firms for doing far less than that stupid blunder. Take pictures elsewhere, that's not your job.

She was SO thrown under the bus - First, by Warren Beatty, who clearly saw there was a mix-up, but instead of having the presence of mind to say, "Hey, this is the wrong envelope", he just handed it over to Faye so SHE would be the one to read the wrong name - Then, by Marc Platt, one of the producers from La La Land, who said, "This is not a joke, I'm afraid THEY read the wrong thing." Did you see the look Faye shot over to that guy when he said THAT?! Reading the wrong thing was not the mistake. The mistake was that "They" read what was handed to them in the envelope by the company that was supposed to have had such a solid, foolproof reputation! Sure glad to know the bungling PricewaterhouseCoopers rep who botched this was pulled from Oscar duty! Unfortunately, so was his partner who was there that night, even though she had nothing to do with it.
