Great video! I have two questions:- 1. How do I safely remove hard watermarks or spots on the side mirror? I am not sure if cerium oxide is the best option and I fear that it might damage the color of the coating or something. 2. After a snow wash (including washing the windshield using the snow wash shampoo), do I still need to use an ammonia free glass cleaner to clean the windshield? Thanks in advance.
@OSRENOfficial Жыл бұрын
Hey Brian, 1) If your side mirror is tinted, there isn't much to do as you can't dissolve with acid nor polish it. We briefly cover this topic at this timing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3mcaqCHadClpZI If it's not tinted, this is at own risk, got to work fast, use a acid cleaner to dissolve and rinse quickly. Just to reiterate that this also has its risk, hence practice this at your own risk. 2) Entirely personal preference. if the regular wash with shampoo cleans the exterior window spotlessly, then there isn't a need. If not, go through the glass cleaner for extra clean surface. Mostly you will want to clean the interior glass with ammonia free glass cleaner.

The coating hydrophobic has one downside; if your car is covered in dew in the morning you will have a challenge getting it off with your windscreenwipers (at least i do everytime) but if it rains, you can drive 60KM/h and faster (ofcource) without using the wipers... it is really cool and less distracting while driving trough bad weather.

@OSRENOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Hey, we don't recommend polishing side mirrors. reflective mirrors are made with glass and silver or aluminum. By polishing it, we risk ruining the coating of the mirror. Sometimes, acid-type cleaner might help, but it comes with risk too, perhaps slightly less risky than polishing. Got to proceed with caution and at your own risk.

have you tried the finest steel wool wiht just water? It seems to work the best.
@OSRENOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Actually we did, it's showcased on our Malay infotainment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2S2Xmmog8uViNE and the risk is not worth the recommendation. Off-screen we tried several cars' windows as well. And we noticed that on the side windows is easier to scratch with the steel wool 0000 method. It varies from car to car and we concluded that different manufacturers in different countries might produce different specifications of glass. Hence it's not something we feel comfortable recommending. Many have also suggested using acid. And we've seen countless detailers crying over the blurry windscreen that is caused by it. This happens easily on windscreens that are lightly scratched with wiper scratches. But if the wool method and acid work for you, it works for you. This is also an alternative that one might consider that doesn't involve any risk of scratching or blurring the window.
@phwualoha12 жыл бұрын
@@OSRENOfficial I used 0000 grade steel wool and it worked on my 2000 Lexus window. The 0000 steel wool is still very abrasive so I advice only use light pressure and keep spraying the surface with plenty of water. Try it on a inconspicuous area first.

@OSRENOfficial Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, we recommend emptying it out and refilling it with RO water/distilled water without washer fluid. Generally, we do recommend washing the car once a week for good car care practice. However life does get in the way, but ideally not once a month. This gives opportunity for stain and mineral deposit to form on the surface. In tropical weather like ours, there will be rain almost every week. Hence, we practice weekly wash whenever we can.

Becareful with Local people advice you to apply pot and pan cream cleaner to remove the watermark. It will spoil the windscreen surface. The worse effect is when driving night time, the light from incomming car will become like stars. This situation will disturb your view and may cause accident.

I have the same problem with my windshield. I think because of so much stains the wiper stutters or skips when i use it. Question is where can i buy that product. I am from the Phlippines.

Will this method work on a PolyCarbonate sun roof as in a SMART car?
@OSRENOfficial Жыл бұрын
we don't recommend this on polycarbonate surface. It will likely scratch the surface

Acid based cleaner will remove it quick and easy. Wash well once done.
