I remember seeing the monster ball as an 11yr old and being so touched when she performed this. The whole show was something that you had to be there to really experience and completely changed performance art but that specific song has, to this day in my mid to late 20s, always been a moment that’ll stick with me forever. My little mind was in absolute awe of this woman, bare in mind at the time I’d only listened to the fame in full and the week known tracks off the fame monster. That show was my first time hearing shicd and omg.

TEETH- "Don't question the value of a gift. The proverb refers to the practice of evaluating the age of a horse by looking at its teeth. This practice is also the source of the expression “long in the tooth,” meaning old." Someone once said something about looking at a horses teeth before you buy it. I guess it determines health and age? If that is true, than it would determine financial value? Like she say's in the song, "Show me what you got." She mentions things like money, sex, religion, addiction. I think she's telling her man to show her his teeth in the way of saying, "I need to look under the hood before I purchase the car." This is just my interpretation.

Bad Romance: Fear of love, specifically loving someone so much you not only tolerate all the bad stuff, but you crave it. Alejandro: Fear of men/commitment, what they might do to get her for themselves. Monster: Fear of the realization that she might not be able to have a safe, secure relationship with a good guy for her need of an aggressive, philandering, dangerous guy with a huge **** ("I've never see one like that before . . .") Speechless: Fear of death, specifically that of a loved one (she did write the song for her Daddy afterall, who was going through heart problems before Gaga finally convinced him to go through with the surgery). In particular, it's about a loved one who thinks he/she is invincible and who don't realize the affect his/her death might have on others. Dance in the Dark: Fear of fame (though Gaga might dispute the idea that this album has anything to do with fame). More specifically, what affect the public eye has on the insecurities of someone (corruption, self-esteem, suicide, murder). Fear of being watched, or just wanting to have some privacy. Telephone: Fear of commitment; just wanting to have fun and be free/sleep around--the dance is her freedom, but this freedom is always under attack. So Happy I Could Die: Fear of alcohol and its consequences; also, fear of pride/loving ones self so much. (Don't worry about anything, just drink and ********** and it'll be ok). Teeth: Superficially about oral sex; really, it's also about fear of the truth, and wanting to confront this truth no matter how harsh it might be.

So Alejandro is for Alexander McQueen. The song song Alejandro has a dual meaning: Gaga saying goodbye to her past lovers and it representing her fear of men monster on the album, to say goodbye to them. But also, its a love letter to her gay fans and her love for them. The music video goes more into this interpretation> Alexander McQueen was a fashion designer who committed suicide because he couldn't come to terms with himself being gay. Alejandro is the latinization of that name. Fernando could be just an inside joke with Fernando Garibay who produced Dance in the Dark, and Roberto could be Rob Fusari, the only actual ex on the song. The music video shows just how Gaga used to fall hopelessly in love with gay guys and never be able to do anything and her struggling with her faith because of it. Honestly, I might just have my own interpretation here... 😂. TBH, I think Monster could be a song that referenced Gaga's sexual assault. Interesting interpretation of Dance In the Dark, I always thought it was a continuation of Paparazzi. The media and the press is the boyfriend spoken about, and she can't be herself until she's out of the prying eyes. And she names a lot of stars that died because of fame. That's what I thought. Well So Happy I Could Die Gaga said it was her Fear of Alcoholism, and its her needing to work but being trapped in a drunken state of mind. And that's a huge fear of hers, and me honestly, there's no control when you're drunk.
@alexandervelez95074 жыл бұрын
you’re def not alone on that monster thing. ever since i first heard it i got such a dark vibe from the lyrics.

Fun fact: Dance In The Dark was a tribute to Lady Diana the Princess of Wales. In the line Gaga sings: "You will never fall apart Diana, you're still in our hearts Never let you fall apart Together we'll dance in the dark." Gaga pays tribute to the late Lady Diana. She touches on dark themes like death, body image and self-doubt in her own life. She says: "The record is about a girl who likes to have sex with the lights off, because she's embarrassed about her body."

I've been following Gaga since she started and I was 10 moving into the Born This Way era and future eras she does reference herself a lot like how you saw in Monster hen she said Just Dance. Common themes in Gaga albums are: we are always given at least 1 ballad. The Fame: Brown Eyes The Fame Monster: Speechless Born This Way: You and I ARTPOP: Dope Joanne: Million Reasons Chromatica: 1000 Doves (Piano Demo) The constants use of "Ma, ma ma ma" seen in Poker Face, Bad Romance, Marry The Night, MANiCURE, Come to Mama and Alice. Starting here we are given a series with songs: Dance In The Dark is the older sister of Marry The Night Telphone is the older sister to Aura Earthquake (an unrelated leaked song) has parts that were used in Fashion Of His Love. Overall with Fame Monster, we were given the darker side of Gaga which is her showing fears and her showing what it truly means for her to express her art and the downside of it all.

I don't think " Dance in the Dark" is about aging. As you spelled out in the subtitles: it's about feeling insecure of your appearance andyour appeal in general. And others' contribution to that. "Baby loves to dance in the dark (a girl who only can blossom and be alive when no one is looking, maybe have sex only with lights off, out of fear even a person that should be intimately on her side will judge and criticise her), 'cause WHEN HE'S LOOKING she falls apart". It's about insecurity inflicted by others. But not for a specific reason. It's a general judgement and a general fear, because of it.

Shirtless drunk reaction? Is that happening? Lol. Great reactions man. Been enjoying the Gaga Discography Train. NF would be an amazing rap artist to do a dive deep. He has such a loyal fan base and his music and videos are straight fire. All 4 albums.
