I just got engaged about a month ago, here's my story :) I was traveling with my mom for her birthday, and I knew my boyfriend would pick us up from the airport. Our flight got delayed, and we weren't going to get in till 11:30pm. When we got off the plane,i noticed my boyfriend looked very nice, ironed shirt, had put on cologne, hair looked perfect. I figured he was just excited to get me and had just taken a shower. I walked over to baggage claim to get my suitcase, and when I came back, he was down on one knee. He was so nervous that he didn't say a long speech or anything, but just asked what my answer was. Of course I said yes, and then realized someone was taking our picture. He had asked a photographer friend of ours to photograph the whole thing! It was an insanely sweet gesture, and I love him so much for it. I can't wait to marry this man :)

We fell asleep studying for finals in his dorm room. Middle of the night, he elbowed me a bit. I thought he was waking me up so I could sneak out. Instead, he mumbled, “You wanna get married?” “Sure,” I replied and went back to sleep. When we woke up, we were both like, “Did we just get engaged?”

Our engagement was very low key and I guess he never actually said "Will you marry me". To set the scene where it makes sense, you need to know a little of my husband's history. From the age of 2, everyone significant in his life left, his Dad abandoned his family when he was 2-ish, his big sisters who were like surrogate Moms ran away from home when he was about 7, his Mom passed away when he was 22, he was divorced by 23. We started dating when I was 20 and he was 24. After 2 years and a lot of ups and downs, we were in the spare room at my Mom's house, his head was on my lap and I was playing with his hair. He looked up at me with his amazingly blue teary eyes and said "please don't ever leave me". I never have and I never will. This November will be our 22 year anniversary as a couple. (married 15 with 3 beautiful daughters) I think it would have been weird and out of character if he had asked me in a traditional way.

Yes---saving a wedding dress & veil is a Thing Penn! Mine isn't in some hyperbaric box. it's hanging in my closet and I can still fit into it because I'm about 80 pounds thinner now than I was when we got married 17 years ago. I think my veil is with it as well but I'm not sure on that. There's an Organization that takes wedding dresses and makes them into preemie christening gowns for babies who are still born or die shortly after birth. I might do that with mine eventually 😊

Is anyone else curious about Penn choosing to drive from Florida to Atlanta for Kim’s ring? Surely, I can’t be the only one; there’s likely an interesting tale behind that decision. So, I am several years late to this video, but am certain that many people would share in the joy of y’all’s Wedding Story!

So sweet... my husband proposed to me at the zoo. I absolutely love giraffes and he "adopted" a giraffe in my name and set up a visit. We went to the zoo for the day and did the tour, ending with an "animal encounter" in the giraffe enclosure. We got to go out onto the exhibit and feed the giraffes. It was super cool and so much fun. I got to feed and pet 3 different giraffes and see them up close. While all this was going on, one of the zoo employees was taking pictures of everything for us, so I have pictures of the entire thing. So, after we're getting finished feeding the animals, my husband hugs me and tells me that he loves me. I was so engrossed in the giraffes that I replied with a quick "love you too" and went back to watching the giraffes. He gets my attention again and tells me that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and proceeds to get down on one knee! I was in shock. He pulled out a little tiny giraffe stuffed toy with a ribbon tied on it's neck and a ring on the ribbon. He asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! A crowd of people started clapping and cheering as he put the ring on my finger and we hugged and kissed. We spent the rest of the day hanging out at the zoo and people kept stopping to congratulate us. It was an amazing experience and definitely outside of my husband's comfort zone as he is a very quiet guy.

My husband was deployed in Kuwait and he came home for 2 weeks. I knew he was planning on proposing but I was trying not to ruin his plans. A couple of days before he had gotten home I had come down with a stomach bug which unfortunately my husband caught. Valentine's day came around and even tho he still wasn't feeling well he went with his plans. He told me to lock myself in the bathroom because we were living in a hotel room. When I came out the bed was covered in rose petals and he started playing "Chasing Cars" on the guitar while singing to me. I started crying and when he was done with the song he slipped the ring on my finger

I was a DJ at a parents with out partners dance, I was also quite broke in those days. So in the middle of Always and Forever I stop the music and the gang of dancers come to a halt and look up at the stage where I was. I took up the mic and said "All of us here hope that one day we will once again find that very special person that will complete our life. For myself, I was told by my ex that no one will ever love you again, and for awhile I believed it. Well tonight I want to tell all of you here that I have found that one special person." The entire room was silent, you could almost hear a pin drop. I looked over at my wife to be, she was wearing a short spandex black dress, it was the 90's. I knew I was going to do this and I had practiced all the different lines that I wanted to use, but when it came right down to it my mind went blank. "Katie I said, you have taught my heart how to love again and I cant think of anyone that I would want to spend the rest of my life with...Baby, would you honer me by being my bride? There was momentary silence that seemed to hang in the air like one of thous word bubbles. Then a smile came across her lips and she said YES! I jumped from the stage and ran to her and with the 25 cents ring I got out of a vending gumball machine I put it on her finger and promised to do better soon. She still has that ring 30 years later, and though it has not always been an easy road blending two families, we would never want to change it.

This was so cute. My husband and I grew up together (3 and 4 years old). So it was almost Halloween and we were carving pumpkins like we had done for years. He had picked them up for us and put them out on the kitchen counter. I started carving the lid off of mine and opened it. I love the smell of a freshly opened pumpkin, brings back so many memories. I looked inside and saw a plastic baggie with something inside. I jumped back in amazement and looked at him and said. "There is a prize in my pumpkin!" I pulled it out and it was square so I then thought it was a candle and how did they grow a pumpkin with the candle inside? (He really should have rethought the proposal at this point for me being so ridiculous) He took the baggie and opened it and asked me to marry him. It was so awesome. He has been my bestfriend for 39 years and we have been married 15 this coming September. Two beautiful girls in that time as well. Thank you to your family for being so much fun for our family to watch.

We also got engaged in Central Park on a boulder at 11:11am. We were so excited and it was such a surreal experience that we jumped up, took a picture on a nearby bridge and ran out of the park. haha Because we also assumed we would always remember that exact spot we didn't notice any nearby landmarks. Every year on our anniversary we go back to Central Park and try to find that spot using the picture as a guide. It's such a fun, sweet and hot and sweaty tradition.

I just watched this video. I loved hearing your story. So, my husband proposed 10 years ago this week (Friday). We were at the beach with my family. He'd been planning it for a while and had told my whole family that he was going to propose. We had just arrived (within the hour) and I had gotten into the pool with my 14 month old nephew. He got me out of the pool and said "Let's take a walk." So, still wearing my bathing suit with a pair of shorts over top and my hair a hot mess we went for a walk on the beach. I knew that my sister and brother-in-law were cooking dinner at home so I was trying to hurry us back while still being in the moment. I started telling a story about when my cousin was a little girl and us walking on the beach and he stopped. The moment felt different all of a sudden. In my head I was screaming "stop talking" but I kept telling the story because it would've been weird to stop mid story. When I finished he said "I'm so glad to be at the beach with your family. Do you know what else will make it special? I'm going to ask you to marry me." He never actually said "will you marry me?" Hee Hee. We started hugging and kissing on the beach. It was really sweet. We then went back to the beach house and my whole family (mom, step dad, brother, sister-in-law, 2 step sisters, 2 brothers-in-law, step brother and nephew) were piled on the car port waiting for us to come back. It was hysterical. My stepdad allegedly asked everyone what was going to happen if I said no. HEE HEE Such fun memories!

So, my husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in July 2017. We got married while in college. He left a message on my answering machine asking me to marry him. He said, "This will be something for our kids to hear in the future, will you marry me?" Since we were broke college kids, we went to Kroger and got a ring out of those gumball machines. I still have the answering machine tape and that janky little ring in a box in the attic after all these years :)

My beautiful bride and I started going to a singles Bible study. I went to check out single girls. Yeah I know, not the best motivation, but a better place to look for woman than a bar. She noticed me, I was a little slower to notice her, a week latter the group went bowling and I was at the score keepers table and she asked me to "teach her how to score." Well it worked, I asked her on a date. We live near the mountains, so our first date we drove up to a lake in the morning and spent hours walking trails and talking, then ate a picnic lunch. Then that afternoon driving back to town she said she said she wanted to cook me dinner. That evening she was making spaghetti sauce and asked me to open a cupboard and get noodles. I opened the door and the noodles dumped and it was like the "star trek scene; 'trouble with Tribbles'. I got a noodle shower. She was laughing so hard she was crying. She came over and wrapped her arms around me, and i blurted out," I love you, will you marry me?" Our first date, she asked me;" what took you so long to ask? That was 28 years ago and 3 kids. I love her more than ever. She is my best friend.

My husband proposed to me in my apartment. He had been married before, and I had a child with someone before meeting him. I was 35 when I finally got married. I couldn't find the right guys. Anyway, he was looking at me oddly and got quiet and he was almost shaking. I was like what the heck is going on. Then all of a sudden he got down on one knee, proposed, and his son put the ring on my finger. It was so special because our kids were involved. We have 6 combined ages 21 down to 5. The 5-year-old is the only child we had together. We have 3 still at home, and they are your kid's ages then the 5 year old. I think the most special proposals are the ones that aren't out of this world with so many people around. The sweetest ones are truly with just each other or the people who matter the most to you are around. Great Job Penn!!! Love you guys and you've made a beautiful family!!!

I had a boyfriend that actually introduced me to my husband. The boyfriend I had Josh was very abusive. And he introduced me to my husband Tadd a week before Josh got arrested for beating me. Tadd and Josh weren't really good friends they were just acquaintances. I Remember when I first met my husband tadd I thought he was cute. It was until after Josh went to jail that we started hanging out more. I wasn't used to somebody being kind to me. I loved how close he was with his family he was very family-oriented. I had actually had a dream one night that he proposed to me on a horse-drawn carriage in a park at winter time. I had told my best friend about it who then told her boyfriend who told Tadd. When my husband I met we were both in a bad spot in her life. So as soon as we started dating he moved in and we have been together ever since. We met in 2004 and married in 2006. We have three beautiful children together. And let me tell you when I run into my ex boyfriend Josh I remind him how happy I am. It's amazing how out of something bad something so good can happen.

I'm from Florida. I had never seen snow before and it started snowing through the day at college. He had ignored me the whole day (bc he was prepping a Star Trek ring box, communicator) and I was irritated at him. He came and convinced me at the end of the day to go on a walk, I nearly refused lol. He walked me among the tall trees on campus and I jokingly face planted in the snow....I mistakenly thought it would be soft. As I got up red faced and looking a mess, I saw him on one knee. I have no idea what he said, I just nodded and said yes. It was so sweet. 💖 He then pulled out the obligatory donuts and we shared our first kiss. We're celebrating our 5th anniversary together soon. I was expecting to get engaged when my husband and I did, but I was definitely thrown off because he let us stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning watching movies the night before. I thought, there's no way he's going to propose to me tomorrow when I will look like I've been up all night, even with makeup. But then he took me to Fort Lee Historic Park and proposed to me while we looked down at the George Washington Bridge. He got his siblings and mine to hide and film the while thing. I was pretty surprised when they jumped out because I told him I wanted it to be just us, but retrospectively I'm glad he didn't listen to me. After we all took pictures together, he took me to his parents' house where our families were waiting, and we had a surpise outdoor engagement party (which I totally wasn't expecting, because COVID). They had decorated the backyard a LOT while we were gone, it was beautiful! That was at the end of 2020, and we just got married almost 5 months ago.

My husband proposed to me during my first trip to the UK to meet his family. We went to a fair in Bedford, England (really traditional English fair) with his Mom, Dad, Sister, and her boyfriend (now husband). This was the 3rd day we were in the UK. I had ONLY just met my in-laws.... and ONLY just started liking tea! We had a lot of fun walking around checking out all of the exhibits and at one point we moved into more of a wildlife section (owls, eagles, and peacocks) and other random British fowl. The next thing I remember is sitting on a bench that is attached to a tree which has some sort of thatched roof and he is on one knee proposing - randomly there is a peacock behind him with feathers extended. Of'course I said yes and we've been married for 9.5 years. :-)

One of our first dates was a trip to Rock City and Ruby Falls. We dated, then were just friends, and then dated seriously again. So fourteen years later, he suggests we drive around and look at the fall leaves. Kind of odd since it was the middle of college football season. When we were at the top, where you can look out and see ever states, he proposed. I was teaching elementary school at the time and my students said I got my rock at Rock City. In our first journey there, I bought a See Rock City birdhouse. After we were marriedm my dad got it repainited with WILL YOU MARRY ME on one side.

My parents got engaged in Central Park. My dad had his friend hide in the bushes to take a picture of the engagement. They had to hike through the blizzard snow with snow up to their shins/knees with my dad secretly texting the friend he had take the pictures to find him. My mom was like “can we stop now” she was wondering why he wanted to keep going. Then my dad got on his knee and proposed but you mom was really close to shedding a tear but she never cry about anything. At the end we are a happy family and my dads friend got an amazing* picture! They were in New York City for my dads birthday.

At my second marriage at age 52, my husband planned to propose on this mountain ridge where we went on the first time we saw each other outside of work. It wasn't a real date, but no one else showed up for the ride. He wanted to propose on the same valley view turnout where we noticed something interesting together the first time we were there. He stopped at ALL the turnouts looking for the same one, but he couldn't find it, and he finally just chose one with a good view to propose. It was fun because there was a young couple to our left, and an old couple to our right, and we were in the middle. He didn't plan that, but I loved it.

12/24/2008: we went to Christmas Eve service at Northland Church in Longwood (since you guys met in Orlando, I figure these details will resonate with you). Then dinner at Cheesecake Factory in Winter Park. Dessert came and had "Will You Marry Me?" written on the plate. He then got on 1 knee and said "Let me do this right..." when it was done applause came from a group of older women with Jersey accents. was perfect❣

My aunt made (or had made) part of her gown into a ring pillow for her sons' weddings.

We'd gotten engaged in November, but I didn't get a ring. So it's Christmas, we're with my family opening gifts, and it's been the custom in my family that the MOST special gift gets given last. So he hands me the little box- in front of my whole family - and it's my ring. I didn't know he'd picked one out, so it was really the best surprise ever.

Our engagement story. I performed on stage in Oliver the musical. At the end of the Bows the director got on stage and asked everyone to take their seat for special occasion. My boyfriend got on stage. He went down on one knee. He had a box in his hand that was made of framed photos of weddings. inside the box was a Boyds bear, holding a pillow and on top of that was a ring. He asked me to marry him in front of the entire cast and audience. He had also booked tickets for many of our friends to see this. But not one of them had a camera! We had to re-create the moment for a photo which made it into the local paper! We have now been married nearly 17 years with two amazing children.

My husband and I have been married going on 7 years now. He decided to ask me like this.... we were laying on my sisters bed watching despicable me one and he looks over at me and said hey if we are still together in 6 months you want to get married and bam ... thats it lol

My husband and I were living together and expecting our first child. We had agreed we weren't even going to think of marriage until after the baby was born because we didn't want anyone (especially our child) to think we were getting married because of the baby. He came home from work and said "hey, this lady at work says she will pay for our wedding if we get married before the baby is born, wanna get married." My answer was "I guess so...I mean we are going to eventually anyway." We got married one month to the day before our daughter was born, and my husband never did collect from the lady at work. :) It might not be a glamorous story, but it is ours. Still in love nearly 12 years later.

This isn't like a cool story, we just kind of laugh about it now. I wanted a family ring and my dad refused to mail it, so my (now) husband went to work on a Friday (got up at 6:30), drove to the closest major airport four hours away after work, "slept" in the airport, got on an airplane at like 6am, met my parents for lunch on what was essentially a really long layover, flew BACK, then drove the four hours home at got back at 1 am on Sunday. Over the weekend, I got a stomach bug, and he didn't sleep. We had all sorts of meetings that Sunday and barely saw each other. He told me afterwards that he almost got down and proposed the second he saw me because he was so nervous holding on to the ring (it's old). We ended up going to my apartment to hang out for a bit, we talked and he just proposed sitting there on the couch. The photos are HILARIOUS. He's SO TIRED.

My husband and I had dated for 6 1/2 years (never lived together as we each had a son) and he got transferred from Tulsa to Memphis. He was like “will you come too?” I was “not unless we’re married “ Him “will you marry me?” Me “yeah” So we ran off to Memphis and eloped. Mom was not happy she missed the big day. 22 1/2 years later I still think she’s a smidge upset 😘

My husband made a slide show of pictures of us. Within that slide show he had a picture of "will" then some more of us, then "you", and so on and so forth till me was written on his hand backwards in a mirror photo of himself. Then when the slide show was done he was on one knee with the ring in his hand and my daughter standing right next to him.
