My only issue really with the Colorado they made the beds universally smaller but didn’t make the back seats 2-3in. Further back. A bigger cab would be nice. The difference a few inches would make. Lol story of my life.

Yep. And they will soon be alone with this. As I'm pretty sure the next gen Taco and ranger will still offer extended cabs. And Ford has been testing a crew cab with long bed (LWB) which is something they have never offered. GM says there is no market for that. More like GM wants to stream line production to max profits. Because I see plenty of Frontiers and tacomas with CC LWB. GM's plant at Wentzvill can only make about 100K trucks a year. Its not even close to that with all the constraints and supply issues. The real reason they don't care about making a longer bed is they have no issue selling the short boxes with the limited capacity they have. The real reason Toyota is number one is they have two plants and literally have twice the capacity. The twins are very popular but GM has decided to keep the single plant. Meaning buyers will likely pay full MSRP or more for a considerable time with the limited supply. Silverados are starting to see 5-6K dollar discounts. But then again they make over half million of those/year. GM is perfectly happy keeping supply low on the twins and keeping the margins high. This is why this new truck is not really a very good value IMO.

Honestly, if I was going to haul people bigger than a 12 yr old regularly, I wouldn't get something so small. Minivan or crossover for pax. And if I needed a truck, I'd get a full-size. You just can't create space where it does not exist.

Totally agree on the piano black plastic. WHY do manufacturers keep using it? It collects dust like no other material made and when you wipe it off it scratches so easily. No headlight switch doesn’t bother me. I never touch the headlight stalk in my Tacoma that has auto headlights. No sliding rear window is a bummer. For $50k that should be included.

Yeah and Ford had a test mule as well for a long wheel base crew cab with long box. I always love how government motors will tell us what we want or say "there is not enough market for that? Says who? You GM? Or maybe scary Mary (ceo)? Love how they assume we are "OK" with not having a physical switch for the head lights. No extended cab option. Or only offering that crappy smallish gauge cluster on 90 percent of the builds. To get the full size cluster you have to pay north of 50 grand for a ZR2 AT4X or a denali. Yet every single half ton gets a full size cluster. Even the work truck. Also love how they totally knackered the bundles on the Trail boss. If you option the power seats that option goes away if you upgrade to the evotex seats. Like GM does not want you to have both 8 way power seat and a nicer seat covering. They intentionally gimp the bundles. And there is no option for fog lights on the trail boss. That was the real deal killer for me as that creates a saftey issue. Obviously they do this to encourage buyers to pad up their purchases buying a ZR 2 or a Z 71 to get the most basic of features they may need.

The shifter is on the right because it's taller than the drive selection knob. If the knob was on the right, you'd have to reach past / over / around the shifter, busting your knuckles in the process. Then everyone would say "Wow GM is stupid for putting this shifter in the way of the knob". I'll agree with Jill (?) on lack of right arm rest, though -- That's a big one for me and honestly I didn't check it for my deposit-down Z71. Now I gotta go recheck!

I agree. The only mid size body on frame available in the US is the 4 runner and it does not offer three rows. And is why Toyota can't make enough of them. They get huge addendums on every one they make. The rest seem to think we need another uni body FWD POS. GM makes loads of that crap. They are the worst in fact. At least Ford made the Explorer primary RWD again like God intended. Still uni body though. But I'd take that over anything GM makes as far as mid size SUV. Also why the police like them. Oh I forget the Lexus GX 460. Basically a luxury version of the overseas Prado. Also a body on frame with the bullet proof port injected V8 with equally reliable 6 speed. Those two toyotas are the last of the line as far as japan built rugged last forever type of trucks. Right up there with the land cruiser. BTW, Toyota will soon be updating them. Just a quick comment from my perspective for almost 20 years other than to set the lights on automatic I don’t even touch the light switch so much so that in 21. I rented a Nissan versa for a week. It wasn’t until the third day that I realized I was driving on only daytime running lights, because I never think about the light switch. Now, for example, touch my volume knob, even though I have radio controls on the steering wheel and I might lose it.😂

I don't like any of the electronics. I just want a speedometer, tachometer, and gauges for fuel, oil pressure, and water temp. I could do without the center screen all together. Other dislikes are the lack of a bench seat and only being available in a crew cab. I would pass on the hole in the roof also. I do like the steps on the rear bumper. I don't know why everyone wants to overcomplicate it. Manual tilt telescoping and manual seats are fine. Once I adjust them they are never getting adjusted again. They really should just call them 24 models, because it will be 24 before the dealers actually get one.

12:30 I've never heard of a power tilt/telescoping steering column / wheel. 13:31 Driver grab handle on the A-Pillar has rarely been offered in any GM vehicle. On a small truck like the Colorado / Canyon, I can see how it might mess with visibility for the driver. 14:45 WOW, that's TALL for a mid sized truck. 15:14 The "head clearance" thing would be an issue for me too. Any time I test out a new vehicle, I pay attention to that aspect of it after I get my seat adjusted for proper driving height.

DIC could be better. No reason all models should not have the larger Denali version and be able to reset ODO, fuel economy, etc. Light switch doesn't bother me at all, I never touch it with Auto lights anymore, you'll forget shortly after driving it. I would also like a driver grab handle, just nice to have. And I didn't realize that floor is that tall, a step would be nice but that Denali step is huge. Why no retractable step on a Denali? And no Supercruise? That would have separated the Denali from the others instead of cheating AT4 buyers on the bigger gage screen.

Its worse on the taco because of Toyota's design language. That is they favor a lower chopped roof line with high floor with the seating mounted closer to the floor. Its a common complaint that drivers don't like on the taco because they sit lower with their legs angled more straight out instead of downward. But Toyota never changes it because they sell well. I test drove it a few times and it was a deal killer. Plus that transmission is a total mess. Its a torque starved, early shifting, hard shifting gear searching pile of crap. I actually test drove it a second time because I could not believe toyota would put their name on something that crappy. But the second test drive confirmed it. That was a rather short test drive. Overseas I've driven the Toyota Prado and Hilux. Great trucks. Hopefully the next gen taco will address some of the long term issues. While they are at it they need to toss those rear drum brakes which is becoming a joke in 2023 lol. In fact I think they did replace them on teaser photo that Toyota released. The cab also looks like its a bit higher as well. They should address the torque issues when they put in the 2.4 turbo and the hybrid motors. I think they might finally get the taco back on track in 2024.
