I was in high school when this song came out and I think this was his only hit. Hitchhiking was safe back then. This song definitely has a 70s vibe. It was a great time to be young.

Music like this is pure bliss. This song is a gem. The entire 70’s music industry is like no other in history and never will be. Try going through every band from A-Z and from 1970-1979 and you will never doubt that this decade can ever be topped by any other decade. Plain impossible and plain fact. Greatest Hits of all time and Chevy Van is just one of them.

Chevy van came out in 1973 i loved this song 🎵🎶❤️ I was a run away at 15 & hitch hiked from Arizona to Mexico seemed this song was playing when id get in another vehicle.Lucky to be alive ,this song brings back my youth.

In the late 70s-early 80s, people would customize their vans, inside and out. On the outside, many had incredible airbrushed artwork with a nice gloss finish and nice chrome. On the inside, many had beds and other amenities and often custom windows including fish-eye bubble windows and other interesting windows. The vans were very cool and they had rallies where you could walk through and check out 100s of nice custom wheels. Good times!

My dad had a big ass 1 ton van he jacked up & put huge tires on...it was so hard to drive...every time you hit the brakes the front end would bounce like crazy. But it would go places my friends couldn't drive their cars to...like the big rocks down by the river where we used to party. One summer he let me drive it anytime I wanted & I would pick up my friends & we partied all weekend on those rocks. I knew it was over the night I heard a familiar voice say 'hey isn't that Bud's van'...city cop that hung out at my dads shop all the time...of course he ratted me out!
