Absolutely beautiful my friend. I love the relationship between you and your Volvo and all the journeys you have conquered together. My family has been attached to volvos for many many years. I have a ‘86 240 wagon in cream color with the m46 trans that I bought from the original owner and she is in pristine condition:). Watching this in preparation, going to see a xc70 D5 AWD :) If all goes good I will own one of my dream vehicles :) I used to have a XC90 and have driven XC60, C70 however XC70 still is the most beautiful! (I have a soft spot for the V90 CC ocean race edition). I love this video just showing what the XC70 can do with pure relaxed atmosphere, it is amazing well done!!

Just amazing. It blows my mind! This is why Volvo Cars company decided for their new investment in Slovakia. I bet they must have seen this video! Great exteriors, indeed! Lakes, High Tatras, countryside.... Anyway, when you sleep in the car - all windows are closed and the air is still okay for sleeping? I read once that sleeping in the car with windows closed is totally ok, no need to have any space for ventilation. What is your experience, please? When considering your sleeping overnight @ -11°C, I guess you have it always close to the top. Don't you? That carbon soot in the engine - is that common, even when driving properly, not even on low revs? No issues about it? DPF after 340k km - no prob? My serviceman told us this MYs 07-13 are reliable and robust. Sorry za toľko otázok, famózne video. Vďaka a pozdravujem. Milan

Hi Allen, thank you for your comment. I was with my wife to see one XC90 but to our surprise in XC90 was less sleeping space :-/ It is a big car but in the trunk is a more space in XC70 also with a nice flat "floor". So for me is XC70 the best camper Volvo (for V90 CC I don't have enough money) :)

@@VolvoCamperLife It's a standard 3.2 - non-turbo. I have spent thousands on this car and I'm close to selling it and giving up on it :-( When I first bought the car it had a number of problems. The worst problem was a jerky/violent shift between 2nd and 3rd gear (it's an automatic). I took it to an automatic transmission specialist (Wellington's one and only) and they replaced the valve housing. It now shifts fine. The rear diff bearings were worn (common fault) so I had those replaced. Now it's nice and quiet. But.. there's always a vibration on the car which usually feels like wheel balance. Going uphill at slow speed (30kmph) at around 1400-1600rpm the vibration peaks like a judder. It's noticeable in 2nd/3rd gear the most around that rpm but you can always feel it up to around 2000rpm so it's there the whole time when cruising at 100kmph. It's even there when I knock it into neutral. I've tried all sorts - disabling the AWD.. rotating the wheels.. replacing engine mountings.. going back to the automatic transmission guys for 2nd and 3rd opinions but nobody has a clue. I suspect there's a worn bearing between the engine an torque converter - I'm sure something is out of balance in that area. Given that the gear changes used to be so violent I suspect something has worn or become damaged during that time and the previous owner probably kept driving it that way. Given how few of these cars there are in NZ and the lack of skill that seems to be locally available (other than the skill of taking money) I am faced with getting rid of it. I wish I could just "borrow" another transmission and see how it behaves. I truly love this car but I'm not making any progress in sorting this out. There's nothing worse than an annoying judder/vibration on a car that is so perfect in so many ways.

I came as imigrant to sweden and own V40 2014 and people always ask me, damn you are new and doing well but how you afford to see all those places? Well i dont drink i dont smoke, and i dont pay hotels. I just manage to overnight somehow in my car in the woods, even tho its cramped it is very silent. I am thinking of getting a xc70 tomorrow and leaving V40 to my wife.

@@VolvoCamperLife Well V40 actuall on the inside is 99% the same in looks and quality as V40, i only like V70/XC70 because of more space. I had an A6 C7 before, it was amazing car but too much investing. I sleep in the car almost every second week when i go somewhere. Sometimes even more. But not so much in winter as in summer. For example if we go on a road trip we sleep in it every day for like 2 weeks. No i did not exchange it because the one i went looking had turbo whistle noises, which is common problem on V70s

I read a lot of hate to these TF-80 and TF-81 and then one day I will go try it - not bad at all for me.. just a angle of view, personal preference :)

Yes, it is noticable. I also measured about -1.5dB at same speed on same road. Also the music sounds much better. Now I driving all the time with the roof box and this is difference too thanks roof insulation 🙂

Is your lovely Volvo was a unconfortable noisy while u dreve it faster or when the engine goes over 3+ k PM or wher is on a speedway and that is the reason for put that noise isolation, or is just yout disision to improove the car. Hi, the car was not very noisy even at high speeds. The main reason was an increase in the quality of music reproduction and thermal comfort when camping (combined with insulating foils in the windows). A bonus, very pleasant improvement was in the noise from the roof box, it emits a significant noise at higher speeds and thanks to the insulation of the roof, it was partially suppressed. Overall noise decrease was not more than 1.5dB because it wasn't a full body insulation.

Thank you Andrei. Yes, we love this car 🙂 I'm very happy with bike, I have this model from 11/2020. Before that I had carbon Ghost Lector 7700 and I chose Rockrider now for great ratio price/equip (or power or how to say it :)). For that price is really good. I chose between this and Merida with same components and Merida was more than 600€ more expensive. Only two things are bad: cables/bowdens under the frame and only 160mm brake rotor at the rear. I changed it to 180mm but there is reason for 160mm. With 180mm rubbing rear frame with brake caliper 🤷🏻‍♂️ .. I solved it somehow but it is annoying.

Hi Jeff, it's a insulation foil which is using as roof insulation material in houses. You can find it at some building materials shop. Cut by the measure. It is pretty cheap and effective (roll 20x1m cost about 30€) 🙂

Thanks Pietro :) It's a XC70 MY08 (year manufactured 2007). It's D5 AWD with AT, Summum, brown color ;)

Did you notice a big decrease in cabin noise after the insulation and sound deadening?

Yes it was recognizably better and big change was music reproduction too. I had in plan change also speakers but after deadeding it was no longer so necessary. High Performance Sound audio stage now playing quite nice (acceptable for me). When I buy a new car I will want to do complete soundproofing - also floor, engine bay, etc...

I have the same HP Sound trim level in my new XC70.. It's biggest culprit I find is that its way over bass-boosted. You want to cut both 60hz and 200hz (its considered mud freq) quite a bit on both EQs and then even fiddle with the Bass amount itself. Also it lacks clarity in the mids, so it can be fiddled around in 2khz region...@@VolvoCamperLife
