Sprint Series: Coach Joe and Emmanuel Dawlson, sprinter from Sweden will walk us through technical issues that are specific to sprinting whether you're an endurance runner, a team sport athlete or sprinter.
In this new video, Coach Joe will be exploring how wearable resistance can help you tackle two common running issues: Overstriding and Understriding.
Overstriding occurs when your foot lands too far in front of your body, causing your heel to strike the ground first. This can lead to a braking effect, making it harder for you to maintain your momentum and potentially increasing your risk of injury.
On the other hand, understriding is when your feet land too close to your body, causing you to take shorter strides and potentially reducing your speed and efficiency.
Remember, while wearable resistance can be a useful tool for improving your running form, it's important to use it correctly and gradually increase the amount of resistance over time to avoid injury. With patience and persistence, you can use this technique to become a stronger, more efficient runner.
Tune in!

Hello coach. New subscriber here. Wanna ask what is the simplest cue/coaching point on how to teach low heel recovery during starting from block? Been struggling to teach that to my 11 y/o son.

Hi Coach - with our calf sleeves we load on the front of the calf so the athlete can ‘feel’ the weight and be aware of the leg staying down. In this case the load assists them in keeping the leg down during those first steps out of the block. It’s working very effective right now !

Joseph, is this track in Malaysia open during the day for people who want to use it for training? The last time I was on vacation in Malaysia, most of the tracks were either locked or had a guard outside who stopped anyone not affiliated with the Malaysian track and field association from entering.

this is wrong. physically and technical.. overstriding is the result of what happens earlier in the stride cycle and contralateral. The lower leg will cast out naturally if the athletes powerfully switches thighs. Extension and Flexion both have to occur simultaneously and powerfully. You can't extend your hip/thigh powerfully if the other side isn't flexing powerfully.
