I actually met the casting director for kids bop myself he was at a summer camp when I was like 10 years old or something. It is true that he has no sense of humor. When he was introducing himself to me he asked if I liked kidz bop without telling me he was the casting director. I told him that I honestly hated them and the kids were a little obnoxious. That is probably why he would not talk to me for the rest of the summer camp

Fun fact: the reason why there were adults in the original albums was because they were a group called "Kids." That's why it was called Kids Bob. They also had 4 kids in the studio because one of the members was babysitting at the time and somewhere along the line the crediting for the artists was lost in translation. Originally it was supposed to be "by Kids + 4 kids" but then the slogan ended up being what we know today. The group Kids quit later on because there were too many kids running around the studio and now they're an empire.

I was pretty little when KB hit the market. My parents immediately gave it major side-eye and never let me engage with it, for a while that included not watching the commercials. They saw it as a “child star mill” which to them was the equivalent of a child trafficking club. Which I mean…they weren’t totally wrong about that. They were really vigilant about stuff like child pageants and modeling too. Idk how much of a rabbit hole KB actually could be, maybe not at all. But I do share the perspective that any industry that relies on children’s looks/talent for profit does need to be under heavy scrutiny, or just not exist.

I worked at a concert venue that had a Kidz Bop concert. Those kids have serious stage presence. Even if they’re lip syncing it takes serious skill and talent to dance and perform for a whole two hour show at that age. And the crowd of kids were totally juiced seeing them - I also gained a lot of respect for the group after seeing them. It’s honestly a lot of fun, and would definitely recommend it to anyone with young kids.
