Absentee owner, Kim Krohn, has an "I don't care attitude" that has poisoned her staff and left her salon rudderless. Even though her house is in foreclosure, Kim barely spends time in her failing salon and her staff have checked out too.

Kim reminds me of me when I was depressed. Thing is, I didn't even know I was depressed and I acted like I didn't care about anything. Later I realised I acted like I didn't care, because I could not handle caring about anything else besides trying to make it through another day.

This show is structured almost IDENTICALLY to Kitchen Nightmares, and that's not even a joke. The overseeing and overhauling, the out of pocket family therapy, the stubborn in-fighting, even down to the seemingly unrelated team-bonding-outing. Like you could take the transcript of this show and replace "salon" with "kitchen" and no one would even notice. It's crazy and I love them both.

Yeah i thought the same too. Id say she has post-partum from her 2nd child and its never been dealt with therefore has gone on and turned into depression for sure. I think that too, plus, the way she said: "I can't do it, I don't know how to explain it", she looked defeated. And I think the social pressure put into women to be always 100% ok, always 100% at work, with the kids... It took a toll on her

That p.c. garbage about getting permission for a hug.. Don't give up your power to someone that is so petty that they demand you ask permission to hug them, like they are God's gift. I don't know jonk so. Someone like that doesn't deserve a hug, or a handshake.

This owner uses her kids as an excuse, but she has just gotten used to being lazy. Her poor husband, seeing him cry broke my heart. I'm so glad the salon is still open and doing well.

Kim has left the building. She's clearly depressed and overwhelmed. I don't think she was mentally or emotionally prepared to be a Mom and run a business at the same time.

I'm suprised Tabatha didn't reccomend the owner to make Phyllis a (part time) manager at the salon. Even if it's just for when she's on vacation. Phyllis comes off as a natural leader and I think her work was even better than the owner. I'm glad she was asked to give educations to the rest of the staff though.

i used to act like i didn’t care as a defense mechanism all the time, i still does it occasionally. it always made people really mad, but if i didn’t act like i didn’t care i would have a panic attack. it’s a bad defense mechanism because it just pisses people off and they normally don’t realize it’s a defense mechanism

She may care, but doesn't care enough to save her business like her life depended on it. She's in a big, deep ocean using her husband as buoy to keep her head above water while he slowly drowns. She has to paddle for herself. This "defense mechanism attitude" is a copout. It's denying responsibility. She should exercise some humility, swallow the pride, listen to the people who work for her, and learn from experts who know better.

I’ve been a stylist for 12 years….I am apalled that a stylist doesn’t know what cross checking is, or they have not heard this term around the salon. In Cosmetology School when I learned how to foil we never used a board…as Tabitha stated stylists shouldn’t have their client working and hand their foils to them! I feel for this owner, I hear her…she is a mom, so am I, a mom of 4 and I’ve owned my salon for 7 years! Im used to not sleeping much, and always running on empty! It’s what I do because I love my job and I love being a mom….every day is a struggle! Both of my jobs are full time!
