I think the reason it's not as popular is that it hurts quite a lot. When I was 16 and my first partner broke up with me I was understandably upset, it was my first idea of what a relationship was and I felt rejected. I listened to this song then, it had just been released, and I couldn't stop crying. Now at almost 23 I look back over anyone whose ever made me feel rejected or sad and think of this song. It's like a quiet contemplation of how in denial people can be when someone breaks their heart. Luckily, since growing up I have discovered that it was mostly hormones and not real love exactly (as is often the case when we're kids), but the memory of those feelings remained and this song still comes to mind when I'm let down that way in my adult life. So maybe it's not popular because people don't want to confront that raw pain that comes at the moment of break up. The song doesn't come from or end on a position of strength but a deep vulnerability. Songs like TRY are hopeful, and SO WHAT is a ''SCREW THIS!" approach to the subject, but 'I don't believe you' is the moment when your at your weakest and can't let go. People fear to show that.

Right here with you….and I disagree with so many others when they classify this song as a “break up” song. To me, it isn’t…whatsoever. Instead, it’s a song crying out the BS to the husband/pseudo husband/the ONLY/the ONE whose promises you believed…even after they’ve shown you their fear. Fear of a or another “fully committed” relationship that expects, takes BOTH people giving 100% of each other. 50/50 NEVER works…that’s a set up for a failed relationship right off the bat because one ALWAYS compensated for the lack of their partner’s 1/2/50% meaning they give 100% ALL the time and FOR the partner who is slipping in some way. This is a song about OWNING up to our OWN shit, taking care of “said shit” (therapy whaaaat?) and then applying it. Giving nothing less than 100% of what you have to give, what you promised to give and at ALL times…. Especially the hardest times. Me and my GF of over 8 years loved Pink and this song hits so close to us. I felt I had to leave her it was so hard to do but drugs and her un-treated mental health issues had made it miserable for us both. She couldn't accept me leaving and said many of these exact lyrics to me. She waited desperately for me to come around while I hurt her with my words and she in turn hurt me back in ways she knew she could as her drug addiction spiraled out of control. l broke the poor girls heart and am haunted by things I said to her. All the horrible things she did to me cannot match the pain that my words at that time caused her. After a while, we tried one last desperate attempt to reconcile bc there was still so much love there even if it wasn't likely to work. She died 3 days later of a drug overdose while I was asleep 6 feet away. Me trying to leave her broke her heart and made her stop caring about anything. This song hits so close to home for me. I was leaving the love of my life to help us both I thought. I told her we both needed help and we were toxic for each. I could not convince her I did only want it to be temporary which is the greatest failure of my life. I ended up losing her for ever and not a day goes by i don't wish i could see her again. A part of me died with her and I'll never be whole again. So think hard before u leave a person who truly loves u. It is such a rare gift.

This song hits home for me. My ex fiance cheated on me 3 times lied to me a lot and beat on me and mentally abused me. I was pregnant and lost our child. He shot himself in the mouth and lived and I stayed and cared to him and he still tried to hit me so I finally broke and left. I'm with someone else now and he makes me feel safe and every time we're together I feel happy again.

Strangely this song came into my head on Wednesday. It was because of some of the lines, like "I don't believe you" and "It feels like one of those bad dreams where you can't wake up", as well as the overall meaning of loss in the song. But it's not over a person. My cat died too suddenly, it's still difficult to think he's gone. I want to wake up and have it all have been a terrible dream. Doesn't feel real yet. I don't/ can't believe it. I'm a hermit most of the time, and now my house is so empty I can't stand to be there. RIP, you were my perfect companion. Can't believe you're gone.

This song hits me really deep. I don't know why but when she sings "I don't believe you" it brings tears to my eyes. Pink's (Alecia) voice in this song it's an amazing combination of raspy (the spice) and purity (the beauty). Yes she is my favorite female singer. There are so many great ones, but she has a special place in my ears.
