I usually support Parvathy in what she speaks and thinks. But in this I cannot back her. Islamic extremism is real. Show casing that isn't Islamophobic. Just like criticising Sangh Parivar isn't Hindu phobic. Trance, the movie, isn't Christian phobic either. I think, making the central character of Take Off, a muslim, actually made the whole story less islamophobic

The director has the freedom to make interpretation in his/her content, with exception of not discriminating/insulting a specific group or community.... and how changing the main character's caste makes it Islamophobic ? The story's theme revolves around Muslim surrounding so they decide to make the lead character a muslim where's the wrong in it ? Soubin's character in Sudani from Nigeria is a muslim, is that islamophobic ? Also that film even shows a glimpse of Nigerians lifeand their sufferings, do you think that film has racism in it ? While I understand what he is saying, cannot quite agree that writers are not conscious of the sensibility they are promoting and that is why they write sexist dialogues like the one he was mentioning. Writers and directors have to take responsibility for what they are writing. It is not that they don't know what is not politically correct, they write in sexist/homophobic/casteist jokes because that is considered normal. Change will happen only when the writers and directors take responsibility for what they create and don't glorify marginalizing a gender/community/sexual orientation. In this matter, I respect Parvathy. She doesn't come across as defensive, but more introspective. She also owns up to her mistakes, which other creative artists/directors do not do.

Director is the captain of the ship 100%! But the general public mostly check in the following order when they planning for a movie......., who are the actors ( the male 1,2 then 3rd female ( rarely 2nd) and 4th position only the ordinary people check who’s the director! I’m not saying it should be that way, but that’s the reality 🤷‍♀️
