THIS is how videos on this kind of topic should be done - methodical, informative, clear and concise. Anyone could do this at home now. Love your 'cheeky' attitude as well Chloe. You speak at a pace that is easy to follow, your enuciation is crystal clear and eye contact with the viewer kept us engaged all the way through. I hope you get paid big bucks - seriously. Many YT posters could take a lesson from your presentation skills.

Swap the french press with an Aeropress for the 'espresso' (uses much less coffee but still a good strong shot) and this is what I do every morning. Buy a cheap french press with a plastic handle and you don't have to faff about taking the glass out of the holder. I got one in Tesco for £5. My flat white is: 24g fine ground espresso blend coffee 60g water (just off the boil) stir for 10-20 seconds then brew for 2 mins 200g of whole milk For the textured milk, I do just what is in the video, but after plunging I pour the milk into a metal milk jug as this gives you better tap and swirl action.

@ConfusedOilPainter Fully aware it's not a real espresso, hence the use of ' ' around espresso.

I do this with a Moka pot and it feels like it tastes much better than when done with a French press. Aeropress makes a decent strong shot as well, and there's a decent accessory that lets you add more pressure on the coffee so you get a bit closer to espresso, although obviously not the same.

To froth the milk I purchased a really inexpensive battery operated handheld frother. After ftothing the milk I put it in microwave to heat and while that's hesting I make the espresso like coffee using an AeroPress Flow Control Filter or the Fellow Prismo filter attachment. Note: I do not make 10 or 12 ounce (300 or 360 ml) drinks. I make 6 ounce (180 ml) drinks because I prefer a higher coffee content. I'm not trying to drink milk with a little coffee but I want coffee with a little milk.

A friend of mine told me to put it in the fridge or freezer, because it wouldn't age so fast due to the cold. Can you confirm this?

Getting coffee ground to the right degree isn't proving easy - though I might ask one of the local roasters to do some. The other problems for me: I have only one very large French press - it's not my preferred method for home basic coffee, I use a German cone instead. That French press, though, is not in a metal frame, unlike my partner's more sensibly sized one which is, and I find it's not easy to get the beaker out - if I could get another one of that size but in a plastic holder, I'd be more likely to attempt this.

The way I do it; 1)water in boiler. 2)2-3 table spoons coffee and add to press 3) milk in pot, max heat, 4) pour hot water, 5) milk off stove 6)press coffee and pour in cup 7)fast clean of press 8) pour milk in press, give it a few pushes 9) pour milk cream in cup. I don't measure anything at all anymore. But I did initially, until I knew when X-part was done, then y-part was ready. Try that approach, and you feel like it's an art🙂

it's not the same & doesn't taste the same tho . espresso coffee is made by forcing hot water through the grinds under pressure , the coffee grinds in a French press / plunger / cafetere just float around in hot water similar to tea in a tea pot . the result is noticeably weaker & waterier ( it tastes very similar to perc' coffee ) .
