This is a win-win scenario. A less experienced detailer can feel comfortable completing the job well, and the results satisfy most clients.

Great advice firstly. Honest and straightforward. Many people make it look easy doing correction becouse they have the experience and the right equipment. From a beginner perspective it looks easy and harmless, till you couse damage to clients vehicles. Great advice to go for enhancements and build experience

As someone who is just starting out this is exactly what I was looking for. Some of the cars are new so the idea of already pulling away from clear coat so early in the cars life is really not appealing. Especially when I'm really looking to just provide a little more gloss and shine. Thank you again for another amazing video.

Great advice. Most people are shocked at what you can do with a DA, a good cleaner wax and a medium polishing pad... and it's not like it goes back to ugly the first time it's run through a car wash either. YT and fear of criticism has done lot of harm to the benefits of enhancements. I think the pendulum is beginning to swing back with pros like you and Scott from Dallas Paint Correction speaking out.

And this is why proper maintenance is important. Washing with plenty of lubrication and not marring the surface in the first place, is crucial. My personal car is black. The RIDS and wash marring drive me nuts, but the thought of removing clearcoat and giving it less protection is worse. Maybe I'll just take it to the body shop and have it sprayed with 7 layers of clear 🤔. But seriously, this subject matter is really what sets you apart, Brian. Great vid to help people breaking into the business. Thank you.

Great video, Brian! Funny timing too, as I just sold a "paint enhancement" yesterday. Though, I called it a "deep cleaning." - Same idea, though. For this job, I'll be using Ultima Final Polish on a soft pad, and follow it up with Ultima Paint Sealant. Owner of the daily driven car isn't looking for scratch/swirl removal, just a nice cleaning and maintenance washes every other week.

Yup, now I am thourouly confused. Some of the more obsessed, NY/L detailers dont seem to mind ripping through all the clear on a car. Now they are working on 100k plus super cars, or their dad's WRX??? But still, no concern at all for retention of clear coat. I suppose that's why they sell and buy new cars every 6 months, they don't care about how it will look as the clear coat deteriorates on the next owner.(esp. A 2009 Honda S2000 w Black, uber soft clear. I was even cringing as I watched 5 guys tag team that car:) Alot to consider, and learn! Thanks for the video... most of us are working on daily drivers, or our own cars. It is really great to see someone who lives in the real world. You and Scott need to do a podcast or something, you two are on different pages in the same book!

Talking to the techs at PPG R&D...They claim a vehicle needs 2 mils of their clear coat to completely protect the base coat. Factories barely get 1.75 mils on a new car currently. That tells you everything.

During the pandemic, I have picked up detailing as a hobby. I have invested in an Maxshine M15 and now have so many products that I have confused myself. I have everything from foam to C2V3 and some cuts, polishes, waxes, sealant in between...and don't really know when to use use what. To complicate matters I have two cars that must remain ungaraged and get horrible Northeast water spots that drive me crazy. You have now introduced me to one step and paint enhancers...great more product!! Can you give me one resource and product list to restart and get it all straight in my head??? Thanks Guy!! I appreciate it.

Very informative video. I’ve always wondered if professional detailers have a different way of completing the front facia of an vehicle. Do you use a smaller buffer, different techniques? Thanks for any advice. I am not a professional but I own a flex with the original 6 inch pad assembly. I usually detail my own personal vehicles, making minor corrections such as swirl marks, scratches and stains. I want to prep a brand new vehicle for ceramic coating. I do also have a smaller Griots buffer 3 inch I believe but it is a random orbital I believe and not as effective..

I was under the impression that Sonax Perfect Finish is similar to menzerna 3800, with both of them being "jeweling" polishes, no? Thank you this is terrific advice, especially with arm speeds, pad selection, diminishing abrasives. If I heard correctly, you're saying to use an orange cutting pad with an AIO, is this to get more cut? And you suggest it's more aggressive on paint removal than an enhancement polish; if you use a polishing pad similar to what would be used with the polish, would the AIO be less aggressive and comparable to the polish in terms of paint removal?
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 5 жыл бұрын
It would be less aggressive...which is good with newer cars. They do not even spray on enough clear to completely protect the basecoat. So what we remove ...makes it worse.

Hi Brian was just contacting today because I was wondering if I could get some microfiber recommendations for buffing off optimum no rinse or rinseless washes because unfortunately I'm on my 4th rag company microfiber and everytime I go to buff onr off it leaves lots of lint and is very frustrating. This would be my 5th time washing them by themselves with microfiber detergent only and hang drying them each time and would be awesome if I can get pit in the right direction for achieving no lint buffing fir rinseless washes/spray wax removal. Thanks in advance for your help

No. I prime with a quick spray or two with Angelwax QED.
