They’re both words of greek origin. ‘Pan’ means all, ‘dora’ means gift, while ‘demos’, which became ‘demic’ in mid-century english, means “people.” Why? Because ‘pandemic’ is something that affects all people as opposed to an ‘epidemic’ which affects a large population in a given part of the world but not all. The name ‘Pandora’ though, means gift to all. And I don’t know but I think she was the first woman in greek mythology or something. Pretty bad to call her that, for more than one reason.

Hades and Persephone are on Zoom using a giant projector Athena set up, Hermès is busy doing everything ever so he has a little phone on his chair. Everyone else is here. Hera: So, we all know what’s happening, right? Everyone nods in approval. Hera: Good, so- Athena interrupts: We all know that this level of bad can’t really have happened all at once without having been influenced by some outside forces. So, who did it? Everyone looks at Ares, Apollo and Hermès. Apollo and Ares in sync: What? Athena: Well, we’ve got the god of plagues, the god of chaotic war, and the closest thing to a trickster god in this pantheon. So... Apollo: Ok, first of all, Hermès and I would never do something this bad. Ares, maybe. Ares: Hey! Wtf man? Dionysus: Second of all, of the two of them had a third partner it would’ve been me. I mean, come on. All of you have seen me and Hermès consoling Apollo after his lovers die. Athena: You mean Hermès and I. Hermès pops back in: Third of all, Apollo hasn’t made a disease since the 1300s. And that was a prank we decided to pull on the Chinese gods after a particularly drunken night that we later used to inspire the Hangover. Plus, it wasn’t meant to be a plague, but then that asshole Genghis had to come up with that new strategy of his. Point is, we didn’t do it. Hera sighs sadly: You know what? I believe you boys. Go sit down. The male trinity: Thank you. Hermès pops away again. Athena: So is it wasn’t them, then who? Everyone ponders for a bit. Hades: Hey, Zeus? Zeus, having been taking a nap, wakes up startled by Hera nudging him. Zeus: Yeah? Hades: Weird thought occurred. It’s a shot in the dark, but, do you remember Pandora? Zeus chokes on a drink he was having: Clk! What? Hades: Well, after Prometheus gave man fire, you ordered a girl be made to open a special box filled with a bunch of evils. Everyone else remember that? Everyone nods yes. Dionysus panics: I don’t. Apollo whispers: You were drunk. Dionysus: Ooooooooh. Athena: Zeus? Dad? Do you remember that? Zeus panics, turns into a woman for some reason(I had to explain it somehow) and runs away. Zeus: I’ve got to make a call, meeting dismissed! Ares: Alright! Now that he’s gone, can we go back to discussing how we should bring back the duel? Everyone groans loudly while Zeus hastily calls the only female contact in his phone not related to him he has in the “don’t call” category.
