Bend over backwards! Wonderful expression! Excellent description for my uncle's behavior when I visited him in Saint-Petersburg. I'd never been there before so he drove me and mum everywhere, cooked pancakes for breakfast, stood in the queque to the museums, let us search the city more and took lots of amazing photos of us! So when my English pen pal arrived, I bent over backwards to organize his journey in Russia as comfortable as I could. I cooked dishes of Russian cuisine, showed interesting places and told gripping stories. It's difficult to be a friend))

Perfect video as always!👌 Using some of the expressions, I announce that my dear English teacher has been always there for me since my father passed away! She kind of held my hand to get stronger afterwards and I could not thank her enough... As days passed, my family met halfway to have a responsibility to keep an eye on each other. :)

To tell the truth we often might have an argument with someone on the Internet. But! Under these videos, we really learn how to meet each other in the middle, and, at least, how to be there for each other even on the Internet. So, these are really great videos at least for that reason...

One day, I pretend I'm totally broke with a hope finding a truly friend. 1 year ago, when I walk through the street, I run into my old friend and I tell her that I'm a homeless, I don't have house and food. finally, she walks me to her home and gives me the foods, she shows me the ropes and takes me under her wings. she holds my hand I love her. eventually, i find a truly friends.

When I took part as a team member in my scientifical project at the University, our German partners bent over backward to help me. would u mind telling me please the difference between (toward/towards, forward/forwards, backward/backwards )?
@jimcausey78655 жыл бұрын
Toward means you are moving in the direction of something. For example, I am heading towards your house. Forward means in front of you. For example, I am moving forward, means I am going in the direction that is in front of me. It can also mean you are proceeding with a plan. We are moving forward with our plan to build a house. Backwards means moving in the direction behind you. I am walking backwards means I am taking steps moving in the direction behind me.

@@w.w7974 I'm sorry. Americans don't understand English 😀 My wife is Brasilian and when she asks me about English I don't always know the answer. I found this explanation in several places. "According to the Chicago Manual of Style, the preferred form in American English istoward without the -s, while the preferred British English form is towards with the -s. This general rule works with other directional words, including forward, backward, upward, and downward, along with afterward."
