I think because people expect them to sound the same as they did at 16 lol, even though its clear that they've always had a lot of influences/been into many genres (I mean look at PFA or HalfNoise). The lyrics are still as angsty as ever, and I actually appreciated the juxtaposition of 'upbeat' music with depressing lyrics.

she's done such beautiful things with whatever life has handed her. her mind is flowery and full of ideas. she questions life with such depth of intuition, grace, dignity, and LOVE. she seems to have become really solidly planted in her identity but hotly questions anything coming at her with a passion i can only hope to have for life. she seems like she'd be a really good friend to the few people who have been lucky enough to know her that well. she is a brilliant artist and lyricist. sometimes i just think of what my favorite artists are doing at the present moment. paramore, fall out boy, my chemical romance, the killers, pink floyd, led zeppelin, dizzy wright, wiz khalifa, the wonder years, modern baseball, twenty one pilots, green day, radiohead, cage the elephant, the misfits, nirvana, the grunge scene which is so overlapped it may as well be one giant band... this is one of my favorite groups out there because the music is so alive and so good at doing what music does best

i think this music is timeless. i think hype fades away over time and people in the future will appreciate this for what it was at the time it was created. a good next move. this is so exemplary and iconic for me and artists like me because it shows just one great succinct example of a good album well into the artists' career. these are tumultuous times in the industry, which has just relinquished a heavy reliance upon hard copies, leaving artists to try and find the next best way to integrate themselves and set their dreams free. paramore was one of the first bands to take a 360 deal from a record company. thats a bold move and a hard decisions to make and it taught everyone a lot about how to make your dream come true these days in the real world.
