I absolutely love that this guy Mike shares his knowledge on every single detail on restoring this Shelby. It's been a pleasure listening to his genius mind through this entire process. He just showed the world you don't take a Shelby Mustang anywhere else but to him. His knowledge is out of this world. He is a perfectionist at his craft. So awesome to listen, learn and watch every minute.

Well, I've done a ton of how-to's in my auto journalism for car magazines. My pet peeve was always how-to's that left out steps. So, I would get detailed in my how-to's for print, and a lot of that was to fulfill my curiosity of the tech, so same for video. Jason would have the tools and parts laid out when I arrived, usually around 9:30 am to 10:00 am and man we covered ground by the time 4:00 pm rolled around. Round trip to his shop is 204 miles. He works steady, no stopping, tools organized, parts laid out.

It's getting exciting. Jason is not only a great restor but his knowledge, recall, and ability to remain true and unfazed while doing the work on camera is truly highest level. Jerry I'm really happy for you ! Your dream nearly realized. Thanks for taking us on the journey. My favorite car of all time. Cheers Doug 😎

It's amazing how just the bottom stripes really make the car come alive. The headliner/ windshield installation steps/carefulness is outstanding. It really shows you have had to do this many times before to get them just right. Thank you for the vid, really starting to look like a car

What a beautiful car. I csn only imagine what it will look like when it’s done. Basically better then new. I always loved fixing and building vehicles. My buddy owned a body shop and I used to be there every day off and on weekends cause I truly loved doin paint and body work. I’m by no far the best but I’ve gotten lucky and did several nice repairs and paint jobs.

If someone had told me in September 1967 that these cars would be so special today, yeah I would have said your nuts. We made the rounds to all the dealers in the fall every year on a certain day. They brought all the next year models out to show. Mustang, Camaro and the MOPAR muscle. As a 17 year old all I could do was dream.

A rubber mallet will save your hands! Take it from a trim guy! The pattern you're talking about is called Crater which mimics the surface of the moon most commonly used as well as tetra that had a criss-cross pattern . Until the crappy boarded headliner became cheaper faster less labor intensive but usually doesn't last as long as the (ribbed headliner) that you are installing!

I've been waiting for this video Jerry. It's so cool to see you get your Shelby. I'm curious as to what you think about it now since you actually knew Carol. Did you ever think you would own one? And what do you think he'd say about it? I've told you before that I grew up in the 80s around my dad's 64 Sting Ray,my uncle's 70 ss 396 Chevelle,and my mom's 70 Mustang....but now at almost 50 I'm thinking my dream of a 66big block Vette and a 70 Chevelle may not be possible financially. I'm ok with watching guys like you who are legends in my mind , getting yours! It sure is pretty Jerry!!!!😮😊

Maybe I can run across car for you. Send me an email - jerryheasley@gmail.com. What would Carrol tell me? In 1987 I bought a 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra Roadster. I'll tell you exactly what Carroll told me then. I told him I'd been saving to buy a 289 Roadster, a real one, not a kit. And he said, "Well you better hurry. They're going way up in price." He was right. I had that Roadster for 27 years.

@thewriter2549
@thewriter2549 6 күн бұрын
Do you mind going back to the video and listening when Jason explains why not single stage paint. I can't explain it like he can because he is experienced. I know that I thought single-stage acrylic enamel was the most durable, best paint option until Jason went over this with me. Then, I read about the advantages of base coat/clear coat and I see where it is much more durable, easier to repair and most of all the shine, wow. I mean over a half century has passed. Paint is much better today, like tires are much better than they were in the 1960s.
