Pat said he's using a mod to upscale the textures (even more than the official HD release upscaled them) so these aren't the original Gamecube graphics. Also yeah it's easy to have nice graphics when they're all jpegs. I'll never understand why prerendered backgrounds died out.

3:16:23 I love the huge amount of Pat's random bursts of "This game is so good" when playing this. And he did this also back in TBFP days too. So it kind of makes me wonder why REmake isnt his favorite RE, but instead RE2 and REmake 2. Is it too spooky for him? Because I get that. You cant be as relaxed in this as in RE2. To me, this game is to this day, by far the scariest RE game. The way the zombies move and look is somehow really disturbing. And the isolated dark mansion's atmosphere is really on point. For me, this is the best RE game. It's just the perfect, pure survival horror game.

Its cuz RE2 holds a special, sentimental place in his heart. Hes talked before aboutbhow he played RE2 years before RE1, cuz he found it for $40 instead of $60 at a used games store soon after release and just barely got his mom to buy it. He mustve replayed it tens of times as a lil tike. That kind of attachment is hard to let go, and yknow what? Its alright. RE2 is still a great game.

It's definitely emotional value. He's called this one the best of the classic RE games several times even, but RE2 will always have a special place in his heart. Not to mention RE2 IS still extremely good, it'd be different I imagine if it was RE1 that he had that old emotional resonance with, this game would likely usurp that feeling entirely. But because he can look back at RE2 as a solid second place in quality, that emotional connection pushes it up just that little bit more for him. REmake is definitely my favourite of the classic styles as well, though I've not yet been able to play 3.

Also if he edit out dull repetitive parts, split them up and put timestamps on… any type of effort, really. But he openly stated multiple times that KZbin is nothing more than archive for him for "subscribers that missed the stream", so they would continue to feel some kind of personal connection to him and desire to drop money at all times which is why even reading off-stream messages for him is more important than any gameplay. It's all about cult of personality and not gaming.

I beaten the switch version of thisa few weeks ago for the first time, once on hard as jill, and then on real survivor as chris. Surprisingly, it wasn't as hard to play as some of the other RE classics such as RE3, dying only about four as jill, twice as chris in remake; in RE3, I died about 10+ times due to the dodge mechanics betraying me, whether I wanted them used or not. Defensive Weapons make the game a lot easier. Honestly prefer Chris' Flash Grenades for popping heads with the handgun the most, especially since I fucked up the lockpick element and couldn't get the revolver. Wish more games made use of them.

So, there is one area of this game where I prefer the PS1 version, and it's the fucking spiders. Not because I think they were done better, necessarily, but because I am a big baby bitch when it comes to spiders, and it's easier for me to deal with a low-poly rendering of them than the near-photorealistic monstrosities we get here. Granted, that does mean this version is doing its job better as a horror game, but it also presents a giant roadblock for me in wanting to continue the game.
