Thank you so much for posting this! It's helped me a ton with my Ranger. When I go to your Mobilytics, the gems assigned are almost completely different like with Lightning Arrow, it has Martial Tempo and Lightning Infusion instead of Pierce and Chain. Is this because you changed them again based on the high lvl you are?

@scienceofsound yo! Really glad it's helped. Yeah, I've messed up there, I should have made a new guide. My advice is roll with pierce and or chain until you start to feel it fall off e.g not clearing screens fast, then switch to the setup on mobalytics. I've tweaked since the video and have another one scheduled to drop which will explain the changes. Keep an eye out!

Some of what he said is bad international. Poison isn’t an alimony that triggers the 15%, only the thunde, fire and ice. If you hold ctrl/alt over the skill you can read what everything is. Also, lightning skill says it cannot chain. You cannot make it chain with a chain support gem from what I’ve seen and read.

Been running something similar, but I wasn't sure which support gems to use for the skills. I did figure out scattershot on lightning rods is the way to go, just wasn't sure how to scale my lightning arrow. I am playing as a merc, and ideally I want to get Gemling Legionnaire to equip scattershot on my Lightning arrow to proc the damage faster (assuming that's how it works.) I was thinking of getting a staff for weapon swap to have cast on shock, but I'm still theorycrafting. I really appreciate the video. Thanks for the content and keep it up sir. :D

Gemling Legionnaire isn't a very good Ascendancy. Support Gems have no Levels or Quality and even some Skill Gems don't get much from Quality/Levels. The bypassing attribute requirement Passive is also basically useless, because you need the Attributes to use the weapon that the Gem goes into anyways. Overall it's a VERY build-specific Ascendancy and doesn't do much outside of that. Also, it's a permanent choice. Lots of players are re-rolling already because of how mediocre the Ascendancy is.

Just FYI as long time POE player here, anything that has pierce can not chain, it can pierce first then chain but you are reducing your damage by like 80% at this point, and that is multiplicative damage reduction not additive. I would just use pierce as it does way more damage and will still easily set off all of your lightning rods. Otherwise pretty nice looking build.

Chain on lighting arrows do not work. It only reduces DPS but do chain. You can check this on the skill projectile stats. However it increases the beam chain

@@dorianwx4483 so, the best thing you can do is get 2 lightning runes and use them to get flat lightning damage increase. The example in this video works too but you'll get better pay off with lightning runes. I only learnt this myself and will include it in my follow up to this video. A bow with with both is really nice!

I have the electrocute support on my lightning rods. and i have a deaths harp bow that is outputting shitloads of arrows so shitloads of rods that pretty much instantly electrocute the mobs. and i am running the aura that gives a frenzy stack when a electrocuted mob dies. which is keeping my frenzy stacks on max permanently.

why not put envenom on lighting arrow instead of the penetrating skill? you'll get that extra 30% dmg on an entire horde by having 2 ailments on them and by having the 2 passives that increase chance to apply an effect on an enemy the % to poison an entire horde is 72%. I also have orb of storms which is a sorceress skill that places a lightning orb which attacks automatically but will also bounce off an extra attack for every lightning attack in range. I paired this with lighting arrow and lighting rod to get multiple hits at once on a single enemy, and this applies to multiple enemies that are packed together too I'm not high level enough to see if poison lighting is viable but we will see.

Quick question as i'm a noob (never played an arpg in my life lol). I'm on ranger as well and i just reached a point in the skill tree where i'm ask to allocate "weapon set skill point". The options are "Main", "weapon set 1" and "weapon set 2". I don't think fully understand what this means. - Did you allocate your points in "weapon set 1" or "main" ? Since i can see you aren't running a second set of weapons ? - Also, i put everything in Dexterity i suppose? Is there anything in the build that's going to require Strength or Intelligence later on ? Cause so far at lvl 14 i have: 7 Strength, 51 dexterity and 26 intelligence.

You'll need Int/Str depending on what Gear you run exactly, but you can just swap out some of the Dex nodes you've already picked into whatever you need (requires a bit of gold), whenever you need it.

Lightining Rod at lvl 17 is utterly useless. Same with Lightning Arrow. I get much better dmg from Poisonburst arrow on single target. MUCH better.

This is an early mob-clear build, not a single-target boss killer build. And a bunch of mobs is most of what you'll be fighting during the Campaign. A bit later on you get your single-target DPS as well, but you could always just spec some Support Gems into Poisonburst for bosses early in the campaign, no one's really stopping you.

Arrow can't, but the arcs are chaining good. But I tested and for me it's not worth it using more chain, it deals less dmg. It's better to use another support gem, like penetration or more lightning dmg

There's a sidequest you do for Finn in Act one that'll take you to complete rituals in Freythorn, once you kill the boss at the end you'll get an item to use and permanently gives you 30 Spirit.

You’re basically running what I made, except I take advantage of envenom on the basic attack for bosses. It does like 3x the damage the lightning does. So I’m basically doing what you’re doing for aoe, but ST is stronger with poison. Also the poison nodes are right beside the electrical nodes too. Double poison stack with all the bonus dmg… bosses melt with it and you don’t use any mana.

The biggest issue with the game for me right now isnt that you need a 100% optimized skill tree and abilities, BUT that the aweful straight up frustrating item drop rng completely stops me from poppig of. It took me HOURS to finally get a decent bow only to find out that it 100% boosts physical damage while now my build is a lightning based. And I cant reroll. Honestly item drops and the lack of rerolling are a MASSIVE issue with the game right now

Look at the shop and do some basic crafting, I got a nice bow from just picking a base of A2 vendors, there's a guy that sells you the bow with "shoots +1 proyectile" which is insane, then you roll it a few times with AUGS until you get 2 good mods and regal that, if you get a good mod on your regal I would just exalt slam it. Before A2 you don't really need to be looking for good gear as anything pretty much works
