Hands down I still think the BMW I8 is a much better car... yes you got yourself a sports car with the NSX... but if you can't enjoy it long term I'd get rid of it or change to a C8 (much more comfortable) I8 + C8 is the best combo

Glad to see a dedicated NSX upload Pat.👍 First, everything is relative, especially when comparing it to your i8. But 300 miles to a tank is definitely not horrible. Hey, you don't want to be left when all the other Supercar Owners are stopping for gas, do you?🤔😉 Second, as you know, I'm a Vette guy, but I'll never forget the first time I saw and sat in your i8. WHOA, I loved it's design, stance and just overall look. Third, so, you don't like having to stop in the NSX to quench your thirst. Hmmm, necessity is the Mother of Invention. Strap a well insulated thermos to your chest, you can than customize it so that it take a long flexi-straw so that you can drink at will. You'll not only quench your thirst, but you'll be drinking and driving with both hands on the wheel. Safety matters you know.😁 Fourth, so now your worried about getting colder and then having to stop, AGAIN, to get your warmer jacket stored in the trunk. Okay, this is an easy one. You said you're already uncomfortable in the NSX because of your shorter stature. Just fold up your jacket and sit on it. You're now more comfortable and secure knowing that you'll be warm. You can also follow this procedure in the summer time to insure your comfort. Just use a lighter weight jacket, or even two for that matter. Oh yeah, you don't like being able to "move around" in the seats because of the Alcantara. Just use leather jackets. See? Easy peasy.🤣 Fifth, as to NSX's tires, just get all-season's for them. Sixth, as to your liking that the i8 is a grocery-getter. Hmmm, no, no no. You leave both of these cars in the garage and you take the Sport Trac. Seventh, it kinda sounds like if the dealer gave you a dollar for dollar buy-back option for up to 1k miles, you might, just "might" have returned it.🤔 Ultimately when all is said and done, just buy yourself a winter home in Florida. The NSX for Florida and the i8 for the nice balmy Pennsylvania winters.🥶 GREAT upload Pat. Do let me know if there's any other items you don't care for with NSX. I'm an excellent problem solver.🤣 The Man of Few Words is out. Save the Wave👋

I am very surprised that the Acura NSX does not have the range of a BMW i8. While the MPG is not as bad as the 13 mpg city V10 Audi R8, the mileage range is still limited by fuel tank size like other Supercars in the market such as the Audi R8, Aston Martin Vantage, McLaren 570S, and Porsche 911.

I had to read some of your comments before I commented. It did sound like you didn't like the NSX. So, I'm glad you answered somebodies comment about why you compared the two because they are not even the same cars catagory. I have both a 92 NSX and the 17. Are you on the NSX forums? Best
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yep, I'm on the forums and FB groups and am absorbing as much info as I can. It's an awesome car but my expectations were way beyond what I experienced. I thought it would be a replacement for the i8 but they both achieve different results. It's definitely going to have a place in the garage and on the channel for quite some time. But a lot of folks thought the i8 was going to be sold because of the NSX. Definitely not happening.

Had an i8 in 2016-18, it is an exceptional car in many ways. The doors opening upwards is a great design, aside from the cool factor, given the length of the doors, if they opened like most car doors do they would take a lot more horizontal space.

i8 is a great car and would be my choice for a daily, however the door issue is quite a problem in the UK, as the parking spaces are so narrow. The NSX is the choice for the driving performance and the noise it makes, plus its a stunner and a very rare car. Your a lucky chap Pat, enjoy both to the full. 👍

Hi Pat great video. I drive an i8 also and just wondering -- you refer to a cooler you use in it in this video. Is there a good one for the i8 back seat/floor space? Or do you just use one that roughly fits on the seat?
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 3 жыл бұрын
I purchased a neoprene cooler that works great for the space behind the seat. I can put two rows of drinks and an ice pack in it with no problem. And they're cheap and collapsible, so multiples can be purchased to permit food and drinks. I love these. amzn.to/3wsXIhu

Interesting you find the NSX seats and seating position uncomfortable. Yes, the alcantara in the seats (if so equipped) makes it difficult to slide in or out, but that is by design. It’s designed to keep your butt and back planted in the seat during high speed cornering. With the alcantara and large side bulstering, I stay in the seat even with aggressive cornering. I do agree with lack of interior storage. It can be frustrating. But just about all mid-engine exotics suffer from this. Maybe Lamborghini and other exotics have even less storage than the NSX.
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 3 жыл бұрын
I think the curvature of the seat doesn't match my back, making it uncomfortable. I'm 5'7" and I think the seat may have been designed for someone taller. So I try to reposition to get more comfortable but can't. It's a tough situation because I truly do love the car. I just wish it fit me a little better.
@TessellationRow
@TessellationRow 3 жыл бұрын
@@PatsGarageOnline I worked on the engineering development team for these seats. Surprised you’re finding it uncomfortable at 5’7”. It was designed to accommodate taller people but not at the expensive of making someone of average height uncomfortable. The semi-analine seats were great. The alcantara I found to be a bit aggressive with the bolsters. Unfortunately can’t do much, other than adjust your seating position, slight bend in the knee. IIRC the hip point will go up slight in the H (get higher) as you slide the seat forward.

Dnt forget this channel is about the i 8. And i 8 owners.
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 4 жыл бұрын
You're right. I started this channel to dedicate my time and attention to the i8. What started out as me just showing people how to do an oil change, turned into several months of showing the ins and outs of the i8. I considered creating a new channel for the NSX. The problem is that the i8 channel wouldn't be getting much new content because I'm actually running out of content for the i8. I can vlog driving around in the i8, but I don't think people really want to see that. Thankfully, the content here will be timeless for everyone that is considering buying an i8 or who owns one and wants to do DIY work to it. I think that's the most valuable information and it has been extremely rewarding to publish that for i8 owners and prospects. But, to start a brand new channel with the NSX, getting 1 or 2 views a video, is depressing. I'd probably walk just away from creating new content and spend my time answering i8 questions from owners on here, Email, Facebook and Instagram (which I spend more time on lately rather than creating new content). I admit, I spent a lot of time trying what to decide to do. I also talked to other KZbinrs and we all agree. It's hard to transition into something new and not feel bad for our OG viewers who have supported us this whole time. I hate letting people down, but I have to be OK with making me happy. And looking down the road, that means I will eventually have to sell the i8 so I don't lose my butt on depreciation or maintenance costs on it, and purchase new and exciting vehicles that I can drive and maintain, while showing the world that these cars are actually something people can work on and maintain without breaking the bank. Eventually, I may get tired of KZbin and give it up, as it's a hobby and not a business. But, I hope that whatever I do produce in the future is entertaining to the majority of my viewers and if not, I completely understand why some people may unsubscribe and turn to other content creators. It's inevitable when the content just runs out on whatever subject is primary, and that's depressing to both the creator and the viewers. Regardless, I do sincerely appreciate each and every view and comment where I can engage with my viewers. It means a lot that anyone would take several minutes out of their day to listen to me.

I've never been more fascinated by any other car than the NSX, second to the new Supra. I would totally daily drive the both of them until the wheels fall off, lol! It'd be easy to say that those two are easily my dream cars. I'm excited to see more in-depth coverage regarding this car now that you own one! That said, I'm very curious if at some point you'd be able to do a driving feel comparison between this model you have to the 2019 revision! I have some other minor questions if you don't mind me asking- How do you feel about the infotainment used to the NSX compared to the i8? In searching for the NSX, did you ever consider looking at models using the Carbon Ceramic brakes? Considering your use case, would that have made sense as an option?
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 3 жыл бұрын
I'll be uploading more content with the NSX, soon. I've been learning more about the car and discovering some issues as I've been doing some projects with it. I don't know anyone with a 2019 or newer model but if I have the chance to drive one, I'll definitely do that and hope to upload more info. The NSX comes with carplay but I don't use it (a positive), the audio settings require me to navigate a lot of menus just to change bass/treble (a negative) and the navigation is Garmin (a negative) which complains that I need to upgrade my maps every year at a steep cost. The i8 requires aftermarket installation of carplay with Bimmertech just to have it (a negative), the audio settings are simple to change (a positive) and the navigation is BMW (a positive). Both systems have great sound but you can hear the i8 much better due to less noise coming from the engine and better sound insulation. Regarding brakes, my NSX has the carbon ceramic brakes. It just happened to be an option on the used model that I bought, but it wouldn't bother me if it had the metal disks. For street use, there really isn't that much of a difference, but for track use, there is less brake fade with heat on the carbon ceramics. That said, if I ever track the car, I will be purchasing metal discs and new pads just for track days because folks have worn out the carbon ceramic discs on the track and that's incredibly expensive. For street use, the carbon ceramics should last 100k+ miles, easily. I do have to use extreme care when removing the wheels and working around the carbon ceramics as any chip in the rotor can result in a replacement being necessary. It's $15k USD to replace 4 carbon ceramic discs versus $3k USD for 4 metal discs.

I'm not a big supercar enthusiast myself, and horsepower monsters, even purely electric ones, don't move me much emotionally. Still, I find your initial analysis very interesting. So the NSX seems to be more of the raw approach, while the i8 is the technically more intelligent car. I'm very curious to see which of the two will ultimately stay longer in your garage!

I don't know about this guy....The NSX has the MOST comfortable seats out of any car I have ever owned. It is great on long drives except for the storage issue and it has better visibility from the inside than the I8. I am a decent sized guy and would say I have about 60lbs to 80lbs on this guy and have no problem getting in or out of the car.....I also average close to 30mpg in some cases with a car jus short of 600hp. So take his review with a grain of salt.

finaly someone pointed this out! Ive read on almmost every nsx video here on youtube, that the seats are VERY comfortable! One guy litteraly was blown away as he sat in he said: Wow the seat are som comftable compared to the r8 Audi seats. Honda seat were always unusually comfortable. My friend has a prelude 3rd gen. Said: Most comfrotable seat he ever tooked place in. MY Accord CU2(acura rsx) from 2010 has seats like a office! Huge hugging and comfortable. So maybe the owner in this video wasnt to clear or specific when he said that.
