Ken Ham and his team have a bi-weekly "news" show, reacting to the news stories of the day from a Christian young-earth creation perspective from the Answers in Genesis staff at his Creation Museum.
Morgan, Amy and I join Ken Ham, Avery Foley, and Bodie Hodge as they discuss aliens out there, LGBT leaders affirm that “no” campaign was right, lobster humanity, and more in this episode of Answers News hosted in front of a live audience at the Creation Museum.

Wow! The commentary here is just WAY too clever for me. I was a much funnier guy when I was an Evangelical Christian (I questioned the existence of a god and the "truth" of the Bible when I was 8...to my grandmother, who was also my Pastor. I was beaten for denying their god. After about two weeks of everyday beatings, I still refused to pray for forgiveness. It got so bad that my mother moved the entire family, so that she had a valid excuse to avoid the family church), but no one here would believe that (for lack of sufficient evidence, of course...). Now, strangely enough, it's the Bible that seems kinda funny to me!! AiG's interpretation of the Bible is so ridiculous, I'd call it "funny", if it wasn't so....not funny.

Our early founders were deists at best, I think people who lived before Geology, Paleontology, and Relativity can be forgiven for any "God of the Gaps" thinking, and most modern presidents (at the very least) accept the age of the Earth. Even Dubbya claimed to not be a literalist (though he had issues with the Theory of Evolution). We know Obama was no fundamentalist simply by the policies he supported, and Trump only uses Christianity for cheap political points among his highly credulous supporters. So, as far as presidents go, we may have never had a fundamentalist get elected to office, and if we did, it seems likely that it was in a time when science was still more or less mum on the age of the Earth. Though it is hard to say outright considering prior to the 1950s, religious belief was not the deciding factor that it is today when it comes to presidents. In fact, Thomas Jefferson rejected the divinity of Christ, and very little is known of Abraham Lincoln's religious beliefs. Though, close friends rejected the idea that Lincoln was a believing Christian. As far as Vice Presidents go... Well, we have Mike Pence. I think we can stop there.

We could have some fun here. Ken and his team are upset about a new Canadian law that says parents should respect kids choices on gender and sexuality. Obviously it covers a lot more stuff than that, but he doesn't car about the details. Now the law (from what I can gather watching this while cooking) also includes the child's religious choice. If we tell Ken, that people are trying to stop a law to do with respecting kids religious choices. He'll probably turn around and start defending it. While at the same time trying to condemn it.

15:57 _"... can you use the word 'inhumane' for a lobster?"_ so, here's the deal: "humane" originally meant "having the qualities appropriate to a human", which (ca. 1500) meant "friendly", "courteous", and so on, and shifted (by ca. 1600) to "compassionate". so, "inhumane" is literally "not befitting a human", therefore "cruel". it has literally *never* meant that the object of the compassion was a human. if Ken really wants to say that humans are a special creation, completely different from animals, this is the wrong point for him to take up. also, good job, Morgan, for focusing on what the word actually means *_now._* that's absolutely what's important; it's just that Ken is doubly wrong, on this one.

Tim Berry "The man tortured the lobster". "The man"= object of the sentence. "The lobster" = subject of the sentence. The (in)humanity is determined by the object, not the subject. "The lion mauled the wildebeest" - not an inhumane action, no humans. "The lion mauled the dentist" - also not an inhumane action, human is subject. "The dentist killed the lion" - has potential to be judged inhumane.

Scotland has NOT banned smacking children - yet. The legislation has yet to go through a mandatory public consultation period, before it can be passed through the devolved Scottish Parliament. In Scotland the people are sovereign, and if the public reject it, then smacking will NOT be banned. I am hopeful that it gets through. Let me tell you what our dear Scottish Parliament HAS banned which is harmful to Christian - the teaching of creationism in state schools.

The difference between the lobster and the fetus is that the fetus can't feel pain. Before 22 weeks of gestation the signals don't get through to the correct parts of the brain. And what doesn't reach the brain doesn't result in pain. It's the same concept that makes opioid pain medications work.

Great fun as always. I know that many Christians say that the we no longer need to follow the laws in Leviticus and Deuteronomy (usually in reference to mixed fiber clothes and eating lobster) because of Jesus' sacrifice wiping the slate clean and creating a new covenant with man. However If Ham uses that as a justification for eating lobster, then we must also apply this to the laws against homosexuality in Leviticus. If he uses that justification then he puts himself in a bit of a sticky pickle in regards to his view on homosexuality. If he does not invalidate Leviticus then he is also in a bit of a sticky pickle because not only is he violating God's law by eating Lobster, he is doing something far worse to God as he is leading others into sin by encouraging others to eat lobster and thus violate Gods law.

spamfilter32 It doesn't really make theological sense anyway. Jesus claims that He's not there to overturn the Mosaic Law, but the human sacrifice part of Christianity only really replaces all the verses and verses of barbecue recipes from Leviticus as the "sacrifice to end all sacrifices". Later we get Paul claiming that circumcision only needs to be metaphorical to help his sell to the Gentiles. So it's the immutable law of God. Until you decide it isn't. As long as you say Jesus told you in a dream.

Since the bible is one big lie, and Christians base their lives on it, I have yet to find an honest Christian. They will happily tell any lie if they think it promotes the bible. "What harm would it do, if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the Christian church… a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie, such lies would not be against God, he would accept them." ~ Martin Luther (1483-11-10 1546-02-18 age:62)

The list of conquerors is not a short one. When not slaughtering and enslaving each other they were being slaughtered and enslaved by Egyptians, Hittites, Phonecian/Philistine/seafaring Canaanites, Arad Samarians, ( Syrians), Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks (even the Maccabees didn’t fare so well although we got Hanukkah out of the deal), and the Romans. And nobody at that time period did well against the Romans. Ya think people might understand that Judeo-Christianity is not a religion that does well with adversity. It may be why the “pie in the sky”, is such a prevalent doctrine. “Cat got dead, dawg done runaway, wife’s at the neighbors, car repossessed, and the mortgage is way overdue. Hey, at least when I die I git tah see Jaysus!” or some such drivel.

"Humane" refers to the way humans are expected to behave with empathy and compassion for other conscious beings, whether they be humans or other animals. The word has the same derivation as the word human but it refers to how humans are expected to behave rather than how they can expect others to behave towards them. So a human can treat a lobster inhumanely but a lobster cannot act inhumanely towards a human.

It is so great to see Morgan with you again Paul! She was awesome as always but somehow even better. Maybe it was the waiting that improved the final product but I will go as far as praying that we dont have to wait so long to see her again next time.😂 Amy was fantasticly informative and entertaining. I cant wait for the next episode. My heart breaks a little in the final seconds of every video and heals again with the first few seconds of the intro song of the next episode.😄

Isn't it amazing how so many "Christians" deliberately misunderstand the meaning of Peter's dream in Acts (Ch 10? It's been a long time...). Just because the unclean food is being used as an analogy, doesn't make all food available for Christians to eat. But if they choose to eat whatever food they like, they can't hold onto anything else in Leviticus as a rule by which to live their lives. Except for the 10 Commandments - that's what I was taught was meant by Jesus when he was being "scolded" for breaking so many of the 640+ laws (I heard an Orthodox rabbi saying that he wasn't sure exactly how many there were, and no rabbi he knew did either. I think he took a punt on 648 total). The reply was in effect - I don't do absolute quotes much these days. The memory isn't what it was - to follow the 10 Commandments and the 2 he added. Love thy neighbour etc, and turn the other cheek. The group of commandments to which he was referring makes sense if it's the 10 we know now, as not killing, cheating etc fits in best with his rules. I don't remember him saying that to pick and choose his teachings was ok, or picking on a group of people was fine by him. But - for Hovind and his ilk - he did order people to pay taxes! No, Kent, he didn't mean only to give Caesar his own money, it was to give anything that wasn't God's to whomever issued it, so stop using that as an excuse regarding being a bloody criminal!

I'm all for corporal punishment, but let's not be selective about it to children. I want to be able to hit my co-workers, fiancé and constumers if I feel they behave in a way I deem unwanted. What ? we have a law against useind phycical force against other people called battery or assault ? NO way corporal punishment is biblical and MUST be used universially. Oh and how dare you not alloweing to smack my child against a rock if she curses me, i feel persecuted. !!

Have you noticed how incredibly fast everyone on Ken's team talk? I reckon it is both a strategy, don't let the words sink in and pause for thought, and also very easy for them since all they do is regurgitate the same BS program after program. They have no interest in learning anything, they have no interest in expanding their knowledge of anything, it's all just hey-ho-off-we-go-same-old-same-old. Obviously, having made a living out of peddling this utter rubbish for years on end, I can understand they just want to continue doing so till they die instead of getting an education and a proper job, but still...

"done in love, not abuse or anything" Killing everyone on earth IS abuse. In no way was it love. It was out-of-control wrath. If somebody killed their child to discipline them, we would lock them up for decades.

Did Ham really say that there was some way to understand the Bible not based on ancient Near Eastern mythology? Like there is some other way to understand it? I was going to hop over to Ham's channel to discuss that, momentarily forgetting why that is impossible. This female cartoon--her idea of the history and sociology of Judaism and Christianity is really based on the Life of Brian? It would take about two hours to respond to her little Gish Gallop there (after 3:40 or so). While creationists obviously intend to deceive, I will give her the benefit of the doubt and suppose shes is just speaking out of ignorance.

Did you notice in the corporal punishment section that all the AiG people were basically just saying "Yup." to each other? There really isnt a logical or moral argument in favor of it, just a collective desire to adhere to tradition without critically examining if it is a good tradition. When it comes time to actually defend it, all they can muster is an "mhh-hmm" so they dont break with the social order.

"Coroporal punishment isn't abuse." Ha ha ha I'm laughing because he has such sad delusions. Certainly my parents spanking me quickly taught me to obey my parents, but it was out of fear, not out of respect. I still to this day will not discuss anything with them in which I know they would not agree and would cause an argument, because any time I tried to defend myself and explain my actions or what happened when I was younger, I was slapped and told to "stop talking back." My parents have improved over time, but I do not trust them so we do not have a close relationship at all even though it appears we do because I call them at least every other week if not every week. I don't like to say I was abused as a child because I know it could have been much worse and that ultimately my parents do love me, but I definitely won't agree that they were justified to spank, slap, or put soap in my mouth. If I have kids, I want to try to teach so that they can develop discipline instead of "disciplining" them.

While I am all on board with rights and equal treatment - I don't think anyone, in a democracy can require me to respect anybody or anything. Respect at the level of the individual is something you feel or not. Much like belief. I can however be expected to act civilly in different ways in different social or professional roles, and recognise rights, or conform to legally acceptable behaviour. But I sure as shit can't be required to feel or express respect for anyone if I don't feel like it. I do not respect people who hit their children or effing spouses. Nor do I respect the beliefs of religious people. I may or may not respect them as persons, based on their actions. I do not expect them to respect me either. It is not a right I have. It cannot be ordained. Respect, like trust is earned. As for social roles I am a teacher. When I am working, my personal feelings of respect or the lack thereof are usually irrelevant. If they become too difficult to handle it's up to me to leave the situation, it'snot the problem of anybody else. So should we curb our actions, based on roles and situations? Of course. The demand here should be that I act professionally. Not that I fake respect I don't feel. In that situation it is a private matter. But in public discourse, as a citizien I think I have every conceivable right to my opinion. And so do the people I most disagree with. And I am sure as shit not going to respect what I don't respect.

8:50 on the subject of corporal punishment i like to tell the story of my school where caning was the norm, we used to hide the teachers canes or shred them, but we still got a whacking. the part of the story that's relevant though is that we had a competition to see who could get the most canings in a month, so that's how effective sadistic punishments are, we were going out of our way to get into trouble, all we took away from that was how to be effective bullies. we had teachers that quit cos they got tired of being threatened, we had at least one who had a nervous breakdown, and a supply teacher that had already gone through hell came back full time for some reason, but he only lasted a term, so much for bible stories in morning assembly. on the other hand we had a gay english teacher, a little old lady who also taught english, and an art master who influenced my whole life, who NEVER had any trouble, they had us enthralled. if you have to use force to get people on board, you're doing something wrong. when pain is inflicted in the name of love it's usually called bdsm. when i hung out with people from the bdsm community i found them to be supportive, intelligent and caring, you have to have trust if you're letting someone tie you up and whip you, but a common theme, most not all, was abuse at an early age, and often as not from a family member. beating your children is not going to help them become well adjusted. 9:30 thank bastet you cleared that up. although i know, or used to know, a lot of women who enjoy being spanked, and several female authors who make tidy sums from books around the subject. it's all a matter of taste.

Paulogia, first I want to say that i agree with many of your critiques of Ken Ham and young-Earth creationism from a scientific viewpoint. Nonetheless, as a Christian, one of the things I was wondering is, have you looked at all of the documentary evidence for the New Testament? It's a mistake to assume that just because a literal interpretation of Genesis is false that this means that Jesus didn't rise from the dead, and I pray that you will reconsider your stance with respect to the New Testament.
