And that they all look pretty much like, well a "Raccoon" basically. I bet that warrant didn't even specify what species of "Raccoon" the agents were authorized to search for and seize and if that's the case and NYS doesn't regulate ALL 3 SPECIES of "raccoon" then that warrant was flawed! And if you kept any wild animal for yourself without getting it to a certified rehabber, no wonder it won't leave. Humans feeding it is all it knows and would probably die without you now. One of the worst examples of government overreach in the last 25 years. I had never heard about this squirrel before this but what the NY DEC did is an absolute betrayal of the public's trust. Their whole purpose is to protect the community by looking after the environment; this had no impact on that goal. Accountability is now. Names, resignations, and terminations are in order. The whole department needs to be audited if this is how they think they're supposed to use taxpayers' money and resources.

I get accidentally bitten by wild squirrels on almost a weekly basis (I feed them peanuts and they sometimes confuse my fingers with nuts) and I'm fine. And Fred was an indoor squirrel only. Where the f*ck did he supposedly get rabies from? This seems like a power-move to me.

I'm really sorry I never got to come across your videos sooner, and I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember in 5th grade (over 25 years ago now but i still remember and miss him) my teacher had a pet squirrel named Litte Buddy and for may years so many of us students couldn't wait to be in Mr. Sirmons class so they could be a part of Little Buddy's life for a school year. This little squirrel was so smart, and well trained, hung out on out teachers shoulder and wandered the room as we all worked. When he passed away, I remember we all had a big funeral where everyone who was ever part of his life who wanted to and was able to, joined us at the school. I cry for you, your family, Peanut and Fred! 😢 May their memory forever shine bright in all who loved them! ❤

Your squirrel brings back fond memories. I had a pet squirrel named "Peanuts" as a child. It would climb me like a tree and sit on my shoulder like a parrot eating peanuts. This guy isn't the first person to own a pet squirrel. My heart breaks for you and for your loss.
