Usually I find myself very critical of stand-up, especially when the performer plays off his/her identity (like race, gender/sexual orientation, handicap). I hope for jokes where for those factors do not matter and the jokes being about anyone's experiences. Recently feeling myself open up more, accepting that shared experiences (like race, gender /sexual orientation, handicap) ARE defining a person for a large part, besides the unique individual experiences. Your performance, which includes factors that identify you (even if it is not down to the individual), was a pleasant mix of both avenues (pure personal vs shared identity). I think this is my favourite comedian on the Late Show so far. It's a difficult room to perform to, with the formal audience, cameras, etc, and a lot of people don't quite manage to pull it off. Pedro's quiet self-deprecation and racial humor is perfect here!

I am always anxious when I see a standup comedian perform for the first time. Most often than not I feel disappointed. But this guy, Pedro, sounds amazing. His jokes in this bit were all personal, but the way he delivered it and the final hook steals the show. He reminds me a little of Rodney Dangerfield, but less loud and a lot more laid back.

I don't understand why they get comedians on to do a -5 min skit!! It's very difficult to loosen up the audience and have enough time to be able to build up the bit. It's not fair on comedians, it's like asking a band to just play the first 1/4 of a song!!

I'm really conflicted. Mr. Colbert must really hate comedians. I'm torn between blaming him and the comedian. He doesn't give them enough time to develop their comedic genius. And they're not funny within 5 minutes. However this gentleman does have potential if allowed sufficient time to develop its jokes. I wish this program would have more comedians with enough time to develop Fair entertainment. Otherwise he might as well not have any at all because he can't seem to allow him to be funny within 5 minutes.

I hadn't watched the video before commenting and am surprised that LSSC put on someone that wasn't very polished! But saying that it could be his first tv appearance and he was uncomfortable. His last jokes were his best, which in a way suggests my analysis was correct. I have seen other comedians on here that we're poor in quality but I think it's Colbert giving up and comings a chance to get noticed.

He certainly does have a chance. He's been out-raising every other Democratic candidate for the entire election cycle so far, and every single poll from credible sources putting him up against Trump show Bernie is favored between the two. If you'll notice over the last few days, because of his massive fundraising benchmark recently, even the mainstream press is beginning to take him seriously and acknowledge he has a shot at winning. More importantly though, Bernie has massive support among young people, and he's bringing a lot of new people into the political process who would never have voted otherwise. I happen to be one of them thanks to his run in 2016. Because of that, he tends to perform better in actual voting than even the polls suggest he will, since polling only calculates using "likely voters."
