I 100% agree with Charlie's take on The Rock's appearance on Joe Rogan. He was so careful and tried not to take any solid stance on anything, especially with recent geopolitical events happening around the world. I watched the entire thing because I wanted a little deeper insight into The Rock's mindset, especially with all of this recent chatter and speculation of him running for President one day. Watching that podcast I came away that The Rock is not a principled person, that he wants to please everyone and not get on anyone's bad side. I see why people like him and would want him to run for President, because they can pick out the aspect that they like in him, but I did not see in him a true leader that's willing to make a tough decision, upset half of the country, and live with the consequences of his decisions.
@thekamotodragon9 ай бұрын
i've been thinking for years that the Rock is fake af because he always presents a false persona in every public appearance he does (which is most celebrities to be fair), but thank you for bringing up that Joe Rogan interview because that's also what really cemented it for me. I couldn't believe watching that how spineless he is. Joe would talk about something controversial, and he would REFUSE to comment on it or say anything, even when it was about his "home", Hawaii with the fires. I mean that's actually pretty sus tbh, since a lot of people think those fires were on purpose so that rich celebs can buy the land, but everything in that interview was like that. Joe would softball him the easiest responses on controversial topics and he would just go "yea, that's terrible" over and over lol.

Thats whats ultimately so unintentionally funny about all of this: why is this the message he wants to spread? Even if people bought this, and somehow didn't remember the past 2 times he's done this (to say nothing of many similar social media stunts he's done over the years), whats the message he wants people to know here? That he's, as Charlie said, ascending from the realm of the gods to grace us mortals with his presence? Grace our lowly food with his god tongue? Like...that's what he wants everyone to know in order to like him? The message is so weird no matter how you spin it. The disconnection really is so much deeper than just a trip to a fast food joint, this seems to go to his very perception of his own humanity or something.

In a way you can also see this in his movie career. At the beginning of it he actually played roles that varied to a certain degree, but ever since he had his "breakthrough" he basically only took roles where he could play himself (or the way he sees himself). I don't even think that this topic is that meaningless. There are lot of people, especially younger ones, that look up to those famous actors, athletes etc. and I wonder what they take from it when all their "idols" are nothing more than walking and talking marketing puppets.

I still remember seeing Doom the first time, and being pleasantly surprised by the twist of the Rock becoming the main villain. Thought it was impressive he was willing to play against type at the time, and kind of let Karl Urban take the spot as hero of the story. Damn shame his ego apparently got on as many roids as his muscles.

I think Batista has better acting chops. Like, he made me fall in love with Drax, and he was pretty good in Dune as the Harkkonnans assistant. The Rock used to be fun, but now he just...plays himself. It's not fun with him anymore. He needs to go back to his roots, he's forgotten where he came from

@@Demonlord4546it’s not even a question, both Batista AND John Cena have already cemented themselves as better actors than Dwayne is. Maybe if he had stayed on the path he originally was on, but he’s deteriorated so far from that that it’s not even a question anymore.

I have attained a respect for the local In n Out after they rose to my challenge. I asked for extra onion, but phrased it as "I want enough onion to where your colleague looks at the burger and asks what youre doing.". I received an whole sliced onion between bread. The meat was an condiment at that point.
@willow.bell.illustration9 ай бұрын
Whole onion is actually an option there normally. They can put it on chopped, whole, cooked or uncooked. I change it up a lot.

My favorite burger joint knows who I am regardless of who’s taking my order because someone in the kitchen is always working and has seen my order before. I tell them I want extra pickles, like a whole handful of pickles, an alarming amount of pickles, like once you think you got enough, add a couple more. But 8 times out of 10 the waiter taking my order knows who I am. It’s that 2 out of 10 time, I sort of just tell the person to tell the kitchen that there’s this girl who’s stressing about an absurd amount of pickles and they’ll get me what I need
