To go off of Charlie's and Kaya's plane rant, I've read that the fear mostly expands from the fact that everything is out of your control. If something goes wrong there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. This tends to make people fear a certain factor more. So when the topic of car accidents brought up by Andrew, they got defensive because most people believe they could affect the accident directly and minimize whatever damages are done. A reasonable person would believe it vice versa. I would be more relaxed knowing an expert could handle any and whatever plane defection could happen and way way more freaked out knowing that people think they can single handedly stop a car crash in a road where everyone follows the unwritten law of society

Y’all don’t know how planes work. Planes use a ton of fuel, but if it is a commercial passenger plane, the gas mileage per person is better than cars. Those 2 crew mates I assume didn’t fly their own separate planes so emissions are not doubled. A private plane however is horrible because it is not enough people per plane for the mileage to be good enough. A solar boat does have better gas mileage though

I work in Tel Aviv airport in Israel, and you guys didn't even get into how strict security is here. For starters, whether you go by train, car, or taxi you go through a checkpoint even before entering the terminal. Then, before checking in everybody on the flight - passengers, pilots, flight attendants, and marshals go through security questioning (the thing with the 1-6 sticker), and while race is the primary factor these guys also check how you speak, if you seem nervous, if what you say is trustworthy etc. Questions usually arrange with what did you do, where you stayed, who you were with, etc. These are pretty much to check those aspects and see if you build a consistent profile. 90 percent of Israelis even Muslims get a 1 or 2 , it's usually foreigners that get the most attention. Every luggage being sent to the cargo hold of the trunk goes through pressurized screening. And a lot of plainclothes security personnel. Serious business. Considering it's probably the most targeted airport in the world, no surprise that these measures are being taken, it's really just an hour of extra inconvenience for maximum safety. Last incident was 40 years ago. Also you can bring liquid with you on the flight so that's nice

@@scitechian These two things are not the same: 1. What are the odds of getting hit by a car two days in a row? 2. Given that you got hit by a car yesterday, what are the odds of you getting hit by a car today? In the second scenario, you are only measuring the probability of getting hit by a car for today only. They are independent, so they don't affect the probability of the other. In the first scenario, you are measuring the probability of getting hit by a car two days in a row. You are measuring completely different thing in this case.

@@robobrain10000 Precisely. It's nearly impossible to get hit by a car two days in a row, irrespective of how likely it is to get hit by a car on any particular day, even if you were already hit by a car yesterday.
