i buy physical media because i love having artwork and memorabilia for things i like, a lot of games and movies i dont mind having digitally, but for the ones i really love i HAVE to have the physical version i'm also the guy who buys strategy guides. not a lot, but i have a collection of older ones and a few newer ones. i mostly love the artwork and comprehensiveness of the guides, having top down maps with weapon locations for halo is honestly great. when i was a kid i'd take guides to school or in the car, so even when i was away from the game i could be reading about it and learning about it and getting excited and looking at screenshots. even just recently i bought a mega man 11 guide, its a beautiful hardcover with a print inside, interviews, artwork, basically like the DVD extras for the game, so if you love that stuff then i think having that sort of thing is great, i love art books too

some people have really ass internet & most of the game is already downloaded when it’s a physical copy and takes way less time for them. my friend downloaded RDR2 digitally and his download speed was literally going from 55hrs to 99+ back and forth while mine only took 7hrs in total physical and my internet is even more ass than his. that’s my view on it. plus collecting. the only thing i like getting physical is games. everything else doesn’t really make sense to imo

Kaya I want nothing more than to tell you how wrong you are about Pokemon. There is a whole community of players that take Pokemon very seriously. We play the games with different challenges like Nuzlockes, but there is also a whole competitive scene. We use Pokemon Showdown to simulate matches and build optimal teams built around the meta game. There are tiers and the like. There's also VGC which is the official format endorsed by Nintendo that is done in doubles. I don't personally play it, but it has its own meta game.

In defense of Pokemon Let's Go, they were open about the game being a casual Pokemon experience right off the bat. A more traditional Pokemon game is coming out next year. In fact, Pokemon Let's Go is the antithesis to the Diablo Immortal situation. They were honest about what it was right off the bat and promised that there was something for hardcore fans coming up. The Immortal announcement wouldn't have been as damaging if they announced Diablo 4 after, which was in the works mind you. I do hope the new Gen 8 Pokemon game doesn't use Let's Go's art style though.

Kaya, I get what you're saying, I agree in a vacuum they should take the money and use it to treat the children. However plenty of charities refuse money everyday because the source of the money conflicts in some way with their public ethos. Sometimes this doesn't make any sense, but sometimes it's a calculated decision to dissociate themselves with these groups, on the assumption that they will recieve a greater or equal sum of money in the future. St. Jude's is a fairly big charity, and they have to carefully culture their public perception. The risk of being associated with "nazis", at this time parricularly, is substantial; people can be irrational, and headlines rarely feature corrections. At this point, it'll be standard protocol to refuse that money, indeed many charities refuse large donations out of hand that don't come from an anonymous donor or a fundraiser that is not registered with the charity. It's dumb, but it's what it is. Public perception is valuable, and working to cure children of cancer can not be enough to weigh the court of public opinion on your side, if you are seen to be associated with undesirable groups. I hope the fundraisers here redonated the money anonymously, but on their part it may well have been their own publicity stunt, and the rejection might be met with hostility.
@midshipman86546 жыл бұрын
psychopurple Thank you for explaining this rationally. Buying something physically allows it to retain it's original price partially. Lets say you buy a game digitally, after beating it it's just going to sit in your digital library forever. But if you have a physical copy you could sell it again(albeit with a small loss). There's also the collectors aspect since having a nice box-art on your shelf is a lot better than just the name in your steam library.

Why buy physical things? Maybe because you actually own it if you buy a physical copy, if you buy something digital, as far as I'm concerned you don't really own it. A physical copy you will always have, it's as simple as that. That's why companies like Sony and Microsoft push people to buy digital shit, to try and out stores like Gamestop that sell used copies. They want to have complete control of the product, they don't want these companies selling their used copies when they could get all the business and traffic. Not to mention with physical games, why the fuck would I want to install the game with my WiFi, when I could just buy a physical copy and play it instantly. As for movies, buying a bunch of digital movies that aren't even tangible seems silly to me, movies you can only watch on one device. Have a digital collection of movies is just silly and not even satisfying, you don't really own shit. All those streaming sites for music, yeah, you don't really own it.
@emileroberge94596 жыл бұрын
Rogue Planet i disagree, you also own a digital game, theres no difference between your game being on your hard drive or a CD.
@RoguePlanetSounds6 жыл бұрын
@@emileroberge9459 No, there is actually a big difference between the two. maybe explain why you think there's no difference? You don't own it, there's a such thing as digital management rights. If you have a Steam library full of 600 games, they can take that away with little recourse. You don't really own it, it's even in the terms of service with companies like these. All those games, or music, or movies could be gone at any moment if you have to buy content through these companies. Convenience obviously wins most people over, but I just prefer having a physical copy that I have in my possession. Not something purchased through a company that is in control of whatever I may have purchased.

On the games, I prefer physical for the simple reason that I can take my games to my friend's house or to parties because nerds parties play games. Of course, I also prefer games where all the code is on the disk and you don't have to sync to the internet to play it or update it every 3 days. Shit like that ruins games imo. They're just too much hassle to play at that point, especially if you just want to play offline and not get interrupted by anyone.

Many mental illnesses are so interconnected by symptoms that one can easily lose oneself in this and actually apply the symptoms to themselves without really having them before hand. Psychotherapy is better in this situation as you can address your issues one by one and try to solve them one by one as well and you can find out with time if you really fall under the spectrum of insert mentall illness here or don't.

The reason why I buy the physical games is because I'm poor as f. I'll buy a game, play through it, then sell it for almost the same amount as I bought it for. If it's a 2nd hand game, sometimes I even make money on them once I'm done. Most of the switch games are at locked prices (have been the same price or close to it since release) so 2nd hand copies go for quite a lot. You can buy them 2nd hand then sell them afterwards for no money lost at all alot of the time. I can understand why you guys prefer digital though.
