Pentatonix | Bohemian Rhapsody | Reaction Video My reaction to this stellar cover of the Queen classic.

This video is a metaphor for how they got started singing on KZbin. Just 5 people on a couch with a camera. Then endless touring to build up a fan base. Achieving success beyond their dreams. But, ultimately, at the end of it, they are still just 5 people singing on a couch.

This right here is the best description of the video I've heard so far. Nicely put 'Hello, It's MK, your Neighbor'.
@musicfanatic65584 жыл бұрын
@MK Exactly right! And near the end they situate themselves, in order, as to how the group formed in the beginning; On the cushions, there is the trio (initially best friends) of Scott, Mitch, & Kirstin together and then Kevin & Avi on the back (Added later to form PTX). Those wonderful people are genius!

Hi! I just spent the last hour or so going through all your Pentatonix reactions so far, and may I say that you are my new favorite reactor! The speechlessness at the end of this reaction is my feeling exactly specially for this song. I love watching The Evolution of Pentatonix Reactors! Please don't be put off by the bad comments, you just continue doing you. Hope to see more of these reactions. Speaking of evolutions, check out the Pentatonix evolutions: Evolution of Music, of Michael Jackson, of Rihanna, of Ariana Grande, of Beyonce, of Pentatonix!

They specifically styled their arrangement as a tribute to the original Queen version, from the sound and harmony of the opening, the right-left fade on "easy come, easy go", the piano transitions, guitar solos, shadowy "underlighting" on the "Silhouetto of a man..." sequence, etc. They strived to hit every major beat of the original video (watch Queen's original of this and see just how closely they tracked to it!) They really nailed it. Nobody's ever going to top Queen's performance of it, but I think this is the best cover of Bohemian Rhapsody I've seen.

Bill Godwin-Austen and a capella at that. It's what made this so amazing

I read somewhere that the guys from Queen saw the video and said Freddy would have been so happy and proud of them.

Your not being able to speak after hearing what they can really do with a great song is heard loud and clear from your heart.
@klayers15554 жыл бұрын
Hard to really appreciate how brilliant this performance is. Take an iconic, instrument heavy song performed by one of the best rock bands of all time...oh, sure, and then do it acapella. Always amazing and a great display of their talents, both individually and as a group. Thanks for the reaction!
@michellecole63254 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Their vocals, harmonies and utter unison...totally crisp! They fill the space so completely, it's easy to be halfway through a song before really recognizing that there are no instruments.

Avi and Kevin were roommates and had an old mustard colored couch. They used to sit on that thing and write. It was actually used in some of PTX early videos. This is an homage to that couch and their beginnings as a group. Another fun fact is that Daft Punk was filmed in their closet and kitchen. It cost 400 dollars and they won their first grammy for it.

Avi and Kevin were brought in later by Scott, Mitch and kirstie who had sang together from high school and earlier.

These guys can all do astonishing sound effects. There's a hilarious clip of Mitch imitating the sound of a sharpie pen, Kirsty singing I'm a single lady in whistle tones, Avi playing an imaginary flute, Kevin of course everyday, Scott doing a jaw dropping I don't know what with bass notes and chest thumps.
@VivaCohen4 жыл бұрын
You made me laugh out loud when you said, "Holy ----." lol My reaction was the same the first time I watched this. My jaw was on the floor. This is definitely one of my favorites by them. Brian May from Queen complimented them on this :O
@LethallyBlonde914 жыл бұрын
I knew you'd be beyond blown away when you did this song. It is truly incredible. Another good one is Macklemore & Lewis' "Can't Hold Us" or Macklemore's "Thrift Shop." Avi is amazing in both and so is Kevin. The beat just don't break and don't stop. Lol.

Dude, you didn't have to say $h!t, the look on your face said it all, all the way through the video. Had me literally LOLing, while I was like "...yeah, right?!!" I busted a gut when you finally did stop the video for a well placed "HOLY $H!T!".

I love that you just ended it like that. Nothing can really be said to follow probably the best cover of that song there's ever been, so that was just perfect!

As a musician/producer, there are bands/groups that inspire me, and then there are those that just make me smile from ear to ear (picking my jaw up off the floor before). These guys do both. This usually happens when after listening to a group for a while, I stop listening for mistakes. I'm just wired that way I guess. Big fan of them, and I can totally relate to your reaction. Blessings

My favorite explanation for the couch moving: All of PTX's videos in the early years had them in this configuration on a couch. With this song their taking us on a journey.....
@janetranslates4 жыл бұрын
Ha! They got you! This song was suggested to them years ago, but they didn't want to do it until they felt they could do it justice. I don't know whether you didn't speak at the end because you couldn't or because you felt there was no need. Either way--perfect. I should be in bed right now--or working on a book I'm editing--but I saw new videos from you and I can't help myself.

Great job although I would have Loved to hear your thoughts from the heart at the end. This song was a masterpiece all done with 5 voices and a great producer. Their ability is amazing. I have watched ever video they've done and the reactions. I've also watched all their performances with other artists and their solo performances. You've got so much perfection to view. These 5 have the best voices around and span many different types of music. You are one my new favorite reactors, you are so right about your opinion. If more people just listened to the music, everything else aside. They would hear these songs in their entire beauty. You are great with what you're doing, keep doing it and dont worry about the people with narrow minds. Love your stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVED your facial reactions listening to this! Mitch did such a good job on this. I rarely like counter-tenors but I love how he does it with such ease. Then add in his guitar sounds holding the megaphone (which he didn't use-watch them perform it live at a concert) and it's just perfection. May I suggest their Michael Jackson video. Your reaction to the sofa cracked me up. I see someone explained it.

I had the same reaction the 1st time I saw this.i think I rewatched it like 10 times one right after another. How can 5 people do all those sounds and vocals and sound that good. Glad you saw this. I was lucky enough this summer to see them live. Keep doing what your doing man. no matter what you say or do, there will be some douce bag that's going to be negative. Your doing just fine.

😂 Mitch's "guitar solo"! he does that with a normal microphone in concert. Someone coined the phrase "Guitar Grassi" and it stuck. It would take far too long to type out every little bit of "omgosh!" mind blown moments.. but I agree with your reaction. 😨

I have watched every reaction to this song I can find, just to see people's faces when "Guitar Grassi" lets loose. Yours is one of my favorites, because I said the exact same thing! Welcome to the Pentaholic family. If you haven't seen them already, please react to Love Again and Run to You. Two completely different styles, but both incredible. Love Again is a club type jam in the same vein as Daft Punk - only more; Run to You is a slow song with only vocals - no beats or bass drops, but absolutely stunning. (See, I warned you ahead of time..."the black guy don't die in this movie")

Kevin Olusola, the beat boxer from Pentatonix, has his own channel on KZbin; he does what he calls KO covers and does videos of putting his covers together. My two favorites are Down and Don't Dream it's Over. He is so talented it's down right scary but think you will really enjoy watching him.

Crazy and unheard of these days, I know. Popular music being performed with crisp, understandable lyrics, by folks with a mastery (not concert) of these foreign things like dynamics, diction, phrasing and musicality. All could (and some are) solo in their own right, and could jump from this to a technically complicated classical piece without missing a beat. Their fashion sense is occasionally a little eclectic for me...but whatever. And even Matt, new bass, is a grad from the prestigious Berklee College of Music and was a member of their premier a capella group. I have gone back and listed to the original recording of many of their covers, and got to say, that can take a piece that was pretty niche, like Kanye West's Love Lockdown, which I didn't really care for, and add depth and musicality to it and open it up for many more to appreciate. They have expanded the genre of a capella, but also have expanded hip hop to more, and taken artists such as Queen and even the Buggles to a younger generation. Ps- sometimes I worry about you and that tooth pick, that you're either going to swallow it or stab yourself when you sit there with your mouth hanging open like a codfish. 😁 Though the duck lips face that the end of Aha! Was pretty good too.
